CURRENT LANGUAGES YOU KNOW: Potuguese and French (i would like to not speak portuguese anymore, to be French and JSL)
LANGAUGE YOUR CHARACTER KNOWS: JSL
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER KNOW THIS LANGUAGE?: When Cece landed in Japan, she was amazed and impressed by the culture, folklore, language and typical foods of this new country. Even though she took some Japanese classes while still living in New York, she wanted to get deeper into the culture and arts of Japan. So, everything she could learn, she worked hard at it. With that ideal in mind, Cece started taking all the courses she could find. Japanese cuisine, Martial arts, Spiritual meditations, among others. And it was in one of these courses that she met young Yui, a little Japanese girl who was accompanying her parents to pray in Japanese temples. When introducing herself to a girl, she realized that young Yui was speech-impaired and even though she knew Japanese Sign Language, she used to communicate through a small yellow notebook, as few people knew the sign language. Delighted by the girl and outraged by the situation, when Cece arrived home she enrolled in JSL courses online, where 3 times a week she met with her teacher and her classmates to learn this language. One day at the temple, Yui arrives at Cece giving a message written in her little notebook, Cece then smiles and responds using sign language. Thrilled and enthusiastic, Cece and Yui became great friends, connected by that language that is so important for society, integrating the speech-impaired and connecting people just like Cecília and Yui.
