Who are they? Where did they come from?

• Who are they? ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Chances are that you have seen the band around, or even heard of them! Well, it’s time to introduce you to the hottest band in town. 5MC is a Karakura-based pop-rock band composed of four members, whose names are well-known. Sébastien Monzetsu, Seikyo Khang, Daehyun Lee, and last but not least Nobu Uemara are the official members of Five Missed Calls. However, there is indeed more to it than just four College students taking on the realm of music by storm. As stated in a 7/29/2025 interview, it was revealed that there are a total of three managers working hard backstage to run the show! Their names are Leni Rowan (Outfit Handler), Hanamura Hamada (Performance and Media Manager), and Yuna Khang (Oversees Practices), each one playing an important role in the success of 5MC. Quoted by Daehyun Lee, “They’re the real reason we function.”



• How 5MC Formed as a Group ──────────────────────────────────────

The answer is simple: Five Missed Calls formed with a few bored students and a dream. Sébastien Monzetsu, a former band member in France, found himself getting back into the swing of music when in Karakura, inviting his friends along for the ride too. Originally, the band was seemingly capped at 3 members, not to have any more additions. However, something seemed... missing. A pianist? Nope. An Otamatone player?! wHaT eVeN iS ThAt?! Jokes aside, they were missing a bassist. That’s where Nobu Uemara steps in to fill that role!

• Behind The Scenes ───────────────────────────────────────────────

It's to nobody's surprise that 5MC has much of its fame due to the stunts that they have pulled off to perform in front of an audience, many even labeling the bands as ‘The most daring group in Karakura’. The real question is, is it all that it seems to be? Did they really pull off great stunts like hijacking a school intercom without assistance? Just pure ambition? Let’s get a closer look at what it takes to set up some of these famous performances. On 6/06/2025, a crackle would be heard as the intercom came to life in Karakura High and College. Allegedly, the group had hijacked the school intercom to announce their show in the auditorium. Planned? It seems so! Behind the scenes of the hijack, a member of SLT had given the group the go-ahead to use the intercom to announce their show and stage it to look intentional. A clever way to make their names known, but that's just the start of their rogue strategy; who knows what other plans they have in store for us! ​

Is there anything more delicious than tea? No, I’m not talking about matcha or chai tea, I’m talking about the type of tea any diva adores, DRAMA TEA! And what’s better than some insight into a certain incident that happened on stage? On a Summer beach performance, an incident occurred where a blonde female was seen dragging Sébastien Monzetsu off the stage; what happened? Was this just a fluke? staged? Or maybe something more. . .

It seems as though the incident was hostile. What was exchanged in words between the two will be a mystery. An interview that was hosted with the band and that blonde, where a few awkward glances were exchanged. Perhaps a signal to move on? Okay, but you all know that reporters are nosey. Best to keep it real. That blonde was definitely NOT thrilled with Sébastien Monzetsu devoting an entire segment of 5MC's performance to... serenading her? Watch the interaction as we lapse into an interview with the band and managers!​

──────────────────── Interview ────────────────────

I was invited to the Shinsei Seinaru Monastery's onsen, to be greeted by the band members of 5MC and one of their managers, Hanamura Hamada. I was taken aback at first, only now realizing that my higher-up must've forgotten to email me about the change in location... The interview was indeed intended to be a 'hot tub' interview. Not to worry, we made sure not to disturb the shrine grounds' serenity by making sure nobody was around during this. With the onsen completely to ourselves, the boys swiftly jumped into the water as I propped the camera for recording. It was strange, but it ended up becoming a relaxing interview!

Below will contain the raw footage of the entire conversation. No edits, no bleeps, only the full video posted exactly the same as recorded for the purpose of complete transparency.

Zachery Carluccio began the recording. EVERYTHING seen and mentioned will be monitored.

"Thank you for coming!"
The reporter repeated,
"Five Missed Calls, and I'm seeing four well-dressed guys! Welcome, welcome."
He bowed gently,
"Say, how many members are in 5 Missed Calls?" - "Including the performers and the ones running behind the scenes?"

Seikyo Khang just pulled out an unopened bag of seasoned potato chips from his pockets, tearing it open and began munching away above the water's surface. Without letting a single crumb fall in, that was somehow working out.

Daehyun Lee leaned back like he was gonna stay silent... until, surprise, he was the one getting thrown into the spotlight. A quick whisper from Seb sent him straight again.
"Oh, well!"
A slight blink, hand coming up fast to save face like he'd been so ready-ready all along. Fingers lifting with the count.
"You've got us four on stage."
A beat. Then three more fingers.
"Three more behind the scenes. Our managers. They’re the real reason we function."
He gave a light grin.
"So yeah, seven in total."

Zachery Carluccio eased into the warm, soothing water, pressing his back against the rock wall behind him.
"Aha! Three managers then. Sounds like grounds for a perfect combo in the whole performance scene."
He swayed his two hands as though motioning grandeur over the topic.
"Well then, who are they? And more importantly."
He pressed his palms together, forming a peace sign, but pointed at the group.
"Who are you?"

Nobu Uemara Interjected like he's been waiting all day to say this, excitement practically leaking out of him.
'Our three lovely managers are Hanamura Hamada, who sets up our performances and media. Yuna Khang, who keeps us on track for our practices, and Leni Rowan is in charge of our outfits.’
Scooted closer, wrapping his arms around ALL three of them.
'I'm Nobu Uemara, the bassist of the band!'
Placed a hand on Sebastien's head.
'Sebastien Monzetsu!'
Smacked the top of Daehyun's head a few times like bongos.
'Daehyun Lee!! AAANDD..'
Shifted to Seikyo, he only looked at his head and didn't touch it like the rest. He was cautious..
'And Seikyo Khang.'
Sat back down and leaned back, relaxing in the tub.
'5MC SUMMARIZED!'

Zachery Carluccio brimmed up a shut-eye grin before breaking out a chuckle at the group's playfulness.
"What a cast!"
He congratulated after fading out his cackles.
"It's a pleasure meeting all of you." - "I'm guessing one of the managers mentioned is…?"
Shifting his gaze to the side, he leaned his head before bobbing at Hanamura.
"Miss?"
He called out. He rested his posture once again before planting his sights on the group,
"And when did 5MC… begin? How did you guys ‘band’ up?"

Hanamura Hamada SCREAMED! She crossed her arms over one another while leaning against the wall. Wow, was that a sharp rock… Yikers. Poor girl stepped right onto it. She's fine! Totally composed and well put together. Dying internally, but hey, at least it didn't show.

Zachery Carluccio clocked that. . .
"Are you okay?"
The reporter seemed to have been lightly jumpscared by that scream. . . Eh! Bonus content.


Hanamura Hamada nodded quickly.
"MHM! I'm great."
The blonde offered a reassuring smile, even if her tone seemed wonky. Bare with her
"And I'm Hanamura, by the way. That cool manager who basically set this whole thing up. . ."
A hand came up, brushing her bangs out of her view.

Sébastien Monzetsu was surprisingly very used to Hanamura's screams of terror. . . I guess that's what happens after a long relationship #bringsebmuraback. Sebastien was calm and collected, making tiny whirlpools in the water as everyone else yapped. But oh, it's his turn.
"Oh erm! WELLL! I was in a band back in France, 'n had always enjoyed music. Mostly playin' it. When I moved here I had the idea for it, then I dragged Daehyun on board. . Then we kidnapped Seikyo."
A clear recollection of the events. It felt like years ago.
"Originally, we thought about keeping it to us three, buuuutt then our blue-haired Nabu found himself on the bass guitar. Even though I had to teach him a few things, he learned realll fast! Super proud of that one."
A big cheese.

Zachery Carluccio first gave a nod in relief that Hanamura wasn't hurt,
"Ah- Impressive!"
The reporter kept his grin as warm as the onsen they were in. Turning his attention back to the men, the reporter comments,
"Sick origin story."
Perhaps the hot tub vibe was getting to him? He'd seem a lot more comfortable now—enough to have him almost pass out!
"So I'm imagining you had taken an inspiration from elsewhere, yeah?"
He gestured with a finger against his ear as though listening to earbuds,
"Heard your music. 5MC definitely sticks to a genre, just can't put my finger on it myself. Tell me about it!"

Seikyo Khang was tossing a chip halfway to his mouth when the moment hit, and chewing came to a slow halt. His jaw stiffened, and chromatic hues snapped up, locking into a deadpan stare, straight at the reporter, as if the questioning disturbed his enjoyment of fulfilling his stomach.
"We usually go with whatever suits the current vibe of our surroundings, but if we had to name a genre we tend to gravitate toward, it'd be pop rock."
Simple garage band, nothing extravagant. And he went right back to finishing that chip, swallowing it down, just to have some decent mannerisms.
"For our most recent performance, we leaned into summer vibes. Get the gist now?"

Zachery Carluccio gave a quick glance at the potato chips being flung at the male's mouth. Oh, how his stomach gargled at the sight—thankfully submerged underwater, the sound was concealed! Wait, was that turbulence in the water just now? ^^^^!
"Ah- aha, yes! I can see why you guys are trending."
He bowed his head. The reporter was keen on remaining as polite as possible while he was on the clock.
"Say, is 5MC signed with a company or some sort of record...?"
He trailed off as he slowly planted his sights to his left.
"If not, what devices do you use to promote the band? I even heard you guys invested in selling merch. Tell us more about that!"
This seemed like a perfect question to redirect at the head of media herself, Miss CEO Hanamura.

Hanamura Hamada was busy bobbing her head back and forth slightly to a song playing silently in the midst of her psyche. Though the latest question pulled her right from the lack of thoughts. Hanamura's green eyes diverted to the reporter, followed by her body moving with the shift, turning to face them fully.
"No record label."
She replied shortly, looking off to the boys for a second before shifting the focus back.
"That was one thing we agreed on from the start: they want to do what they want to do, and I'm here for it. I just keep them organized and on track."
Her shoulders lifted to a slight shrug.
"Merch-wise, that's another thing I handle. We have clothing, such as jackets and shirts... Track suits coming soon… Also, the poster everyone wants to get their hands on... We keep that one pretty limited and only sell a certain amount per show."
One hand dropped to her side, while the other remained crossed over herself.
"Not to mention more of the merch we have coming soon, like plushies designed by each of the boys, and a phone as well! We're also discussing getting a record that people can hang on their wall or something!"
ManagerMura to the rescue! Keeping that same smile from before adorned to her full lips.
"We also have a few companies that sponsor them, like Yona-Yona and Henki-Do! Very lucky to have them."

Zachery Carluccio raised his brows, hearing how much she had to say about this! She seemed to clearly know what's up! Causing a disturbance with the onsen's calm water, he brought his hands together and bowed in gratitude for the answer.
"How accomplished!"
The reporter commented positively!
"Heck, I might even get some merch for myself these days."
He itched the side of his neck before turning to face the guys again. He murmured
‘I wonder who my bias would be.’
Pouring thought into this now of all times was not the play—keeping it as a struggle for another time.
"Say, word has it that you've hijacked the school's intercoms for a flash performance.. Is this true? Did you need to go behind school leadership's back, or was it planned?"

Daehyun Lee let out a breath that was half-laugh, half, oh, we’re really going there, huh? Head tilting slightly as he met the question with that same playful calm he always wore when the heat got turned up.
"Technicallyyyyyyy, it was planned."
He held up both hands like he was surrendering, but the grin tugging at his lip said otherwise, mischief laced in professionalism.
"Kaito Akiyama gave us the green light for the whole thing, top to bottom."
His fingers flicked once toward the imaginary mic like he was reenacting it.
"And yeah, maybe we added a little something something of our own. Call it a signature. But every 5MC show's gotta feel like us or there's no point in doing it!"
He shrugged like that was obvious, like bending the rules a little was just the tax you paid for art that actually meant something.

Zachery Carluccio says,
"That's refreshing to hear! I couldn't have been there 'cause."
Gave himself a look downward before facing upright again,
"Yeah." - "But I bet it captured the essence behind 5MC."
He flashed a grin followed by a thumbs up!
"Now. . Since we're going into. . specifics." - "I'll ask this bluntly as I've seen you perform outside school! Each time, you guys show lots of passion to a special person in the audience.. what can you tell us about that? Who's the special person each of you sing for?"
Let's be fair, they never kept this hidden! Feels right to mention the topic in the hopes of brewing a certain interest. . to Karakura TV!

Seikyo Khang whiiiiistled.

Oh wow! The revealing question. EVERYONE should answer this, but I suppose Sebby Monzetsy should go up first. A small gulp, but no look of worry on his face. Name dropping. . or describing. Hmmm. . . Sebastien stretched his arms out, he's been sitting for a while.
"Well, last performance the guys added in a song to help me with a certain someone. I can never repay all that. She's a highlight of my life, and my number one best friend. A real firecracker too, can never really tell what's going to come from her next. Which I adore."
WOW! Clearly, that person is super special. Sebastien almost had a glimmer in his eyes from just talking about her.
"I'm sure you can guess, but it's our very own manager that's here."
No direct name drop.

Hanamura Hamada slowly turned away........
Seikyo Khang directed a finger at Hanamura, very discreetly, under the water.

Nobu Uemara grabbed a handful of Seikyo's chips from the bag. Afterwards, he shot him a sheepish smile. Have mercy on the blue boy.. He brought his attention back to Zachery and the camera.
'I would say, but I don't think she wants to be outed on TV..'
Waved to the camera for a moment.
'If you're seeing this, HI!'
Lowered his gaze to Zachery.
'So instead, I dedicate all of my hard work to my mom. If there's anyone that's my true motivator, it's her.'
Popped a chip in his mouth, practically swallowing it whole. No reaction, he just smiled happily.
'But I can out my mom, of course, Nahri Ryu! She's a detective in the KPD. She's the BEST.'
Put a hand over his heart, almost like he was about to cry. The boy loved his mother to death.

Seikyo Khang shot Nobu a razor-sharp death glare. He'd better watch his back, maybe even sleep with both eyes open. With a soft cough, his throat was cleared of any debris, steadying himself for a smoother delivery. And the bag of potato chips was rolled up tight at the opening, sealed; no more thievery.
"Everything I do is for my wonderful girlfriend; there's no one else I'd dedicate myself to the way I do for her."
Safe to say, Khang adored that woman to death, without a doubt.
"She's the hardest-working woman I know, beautiful beyond words, and the most important person in my life, aside from my sister, of course, who tirelessly works behind the scenes as one of the managers."
A finger jabbed in Daehyun's direction.
"And deals with this idiot.”

Oh, now that one got him. The second Zach asked, Daehyuns expression twitched, something between a caught smirk and a breath he hadn't fully let out yet. Maybe it was the way the steam curled up around his wrist as he dragged his hand lazily through the hot spring water, tracing a ripple.
"Most of the time, I'm pulling from something inside. Stuff I've buried, stuff I'm still figuring out how to say."
Voice stayed easy, but something about the way his eyes didn’t fully meet the camera gave away a little more than he said.
"But yeah. There are definitely songs meant for certain people. And when those come up..."
His thumb hooked against his jaw, brushing off water that wasn’t there,
"Yeah, those go out to Yuna, my girlfriend. She's the reason I even said yes to Seb in the first place, when he pitched this whole band thing to me."
A soft laugh fell from him, then flickered out before it landed.
"She's been there since way before any of this. Keeps me grounded. Whether she knows it or not."
He let out a slow sigh; something was obviously bothering him with the subject! But he didn’t elaborate. Next question!

Zachery Carluccio was astonished by the colorful array of answers provided! Definitely material that will garner attention; no, this is THE stuff you're here for!
"Thank you all for s-sharing. ."
Is the reporter tearing up??
"Gah- the steam got in my eyes."
He wiped off the ‘definitely not tears’ on his face.
"You're clearly an inspirational lot by the way you sing true from the heart. We needed more of that."
He cleared his throat. . giving a quick glance to Hanamura. . and Sebastian. Oh, Zachery knew he was gonna get it after THIS one. .
"There's a video circulating online. . I don't know if you've seen it."
The reporter luckily tucked a phone near where the camera loomed. Revealing it, he would scroll to a video saved on his phone! The footage would play: A beach setting with a massive crowd of people, floaties, stands, and above all—a stage where the band stood. However, an interruption occured. A certain blonde clawing at the stage and dragging what seemed to be Sebastian off from the set! The video was caught by an attendee of the show, clearly, the video was bobbing as though the person taking it was running out of breath! Chasing after a pair running for the hills through a crowd of people. The footage ends.
"What can you tell us about this moment? Was there a falling out. . or. ."
The reporter teased with a glare between the two—he's aiming for that SCOOP! Too nosey? Maybe. . Heck, he's a reporter doing what a reporter does best!

Seikyo Khang had no comments to offer.
Sébastien Monzetsu side-eyed Hanamura
Hanamura Hamada whistled.
Nobu Uemara Gave Sebastien a supportive pat on the back. No words were exchanged, but it was time to spill the tea. He gave a stern, singular nod; it was time to be done.

Sébastien Monzetsu coughed. . .
"Well, you seee. . ."
He side-eyed the fuck out of Zachery. . .. . You soooo lucky he's on a peace and love journey today. Sooooo. . . lucky. . . . Trust you aren't safe. Time to lock in, all of that PR training was getting its use TEW. DAY.
"Just needed to have a conversation after the song! Thaats all. ."
A confident smile, not like anything happened. . . side eye. Didn't know this Zachery guy was a STALKER. Praying his phone dropped into the water, please and thank you.

Zachery Carluccio had a choice in front of him… whether to dig deeper or to refrain. After all, that was the most unlikely, most faked, but…. most interesting response the male could've chosen for this question! It opens doors, it opens doors... But, in the light of peace, and knowing that he may lose a couple of teeth if he dragged this on, the Italian chose to tuck the phone away. Nod. And relax!
"Right." - "Anywho, final two questions!"
The male lay his head against the wall behind him. Oh, how desperately he longed for a couch.
"Second to last, how's it like being in a band at Karakura? Do you feel as though your performances are well-received by the townsfolk? Mmnh, do you believe 5MC might even perform outside Japan one day?"

Seikyo Khang pried open the bags of potato chips once more, tipping his head back as he polished off the last of the crumbs, chomp chomp, basically, down they went. A singular finger was held up, mid-chew, as his gaze was focused on the empty plastic bag, silently telling the reporter, Zachery, to wait until he was finished chewing and swallowing every last bit there was yet.
"Being a band based in Karakura has been an incredibly rewarding experience. We never anticipated receiving such genuine support and appreciation from the community."
A brief pause between his words as he crumpled the empty chip bag in his hand, a soft crackle cut through the mere silence. Without much thought given, it was tucked into the pocket of his swim-trunks. And straightening his posture ever-so-slightly, he cleared his throat and continued on properly, like none of that ever happened.
"To know that people not only look forward to our performances but also truly enjoy them is very humbling. It's an honor to be a part of something so meaningful, and to contribute to the local music scene in a way that resonates with others."
Whole lot of yap for one day, move on, next question. His vocal cords were on their last leg, seriously, when was the next rest day scheduled? Because he needed it yesterday, and today.
"I truly believe we'll make it far beyond this small town, this little island. If we keep moving forward the way we do, without failing. There's no reason we won't."
A simple bob of his head, nothing more than that.

Zachery Carluccio says
"That's heart-warming to hear. I'm glad that things are working out beautifully for you—congratulations."
The reporter bowed his head sincerely once at the boys, once more towards the manager.
"As we near the end of this interview-"
WHY DOES IT HAVE TO END?! Shucks, it seems like more steam got into the man's eyes.
"-I'd like to conclude it with this specific question. What's next? What else can we expect from 5MC, seeing as you'll be on the news today? Where have you set your ambitions as a non-record group? And of course, you may mention any final words or personal statements to the people of Karakura."

Sébastien Monzetsu was back to his normal posture. God, did the tea have to be about him? A final exhale of his breath before speaking,
"Honestly, for what's next? I have no idea. I think we might take a little break and do some planning together. When I first came up with the idea of the band, I wanted it to be a group effort. Nothin' really gets decided by one singular person. Rather, all of us, the girls included. If we feel like doin' it, we will."
A pause, maybe a little bit of thinking along with it.
"Do we have ideas? Maybe. But who doesn't like a good surprise when it comes to us? You're tellin' me you expected a stage in the middle of the ocean?"
A smile spread across his lips, the left corner turning into a slight smirk. He was most proud of that performance. He adjusted the way he was sitting, so it was full on straight. He had pride in this group, confident.
"Since we don't have a record label, we can literally do anything we want. All planned by us, with heart and soul attached like the backbone."
Was probably the most giddy about that. Sebastien has never really cared for fame, he just wants to play music alongside his best friends.
"Maybe you might see us in the upcoming months for the fall performance, who knows? We do have a lot of small pop-in shows. Stuff to just jam out to. I'd keep an eye out for that in case people have missed some of our older music, normally just replays."

It could have been easy to smile through it. Say something charming, funny, maybe wink into the lens, and call it a day. But Daehyun sat there, hand still grazing the water's surface. Cutting in after Sebastien.
"And y’know..."
His voice didn't carry the usual lift, but it didn't falter either. Just steady.
"It’s crazy to think about how far we've come. We started this thing because it felt good. Because it gave us a reason to breathe a little deeper. And now people care. They sing it back to us! And maybe that doesn't fix everything going on outside the songs, but it makes it worth it. So I just want to say, whether you're there for the excitement or for the heart, we really do love the hell out of you for showing up."
A small grin cracked at the end, not posed, not staged. Just there.
"And! Thanks for giving our noise a home."

Seikyo Khang raised a hand, offering a firm wave toward the reporter and camera. No parting words, just silence. It was vocal rest time for now, before Leni chews him out for straining his voice more than he already did, after the most recent performance. Prayers and hopes up.

Nobu Uemara Pointed to the camera and flashed a toothy grin.
'I LUH YOU GUYS!'
Brought both his hands up to form heart hands. peace and love, ladies and gentlemen. Went to reach for more chips and realized he didn't have any more.. Almost looked like he was gonna cry.

Hanamura Hamada shook her head.
Daehyun Lee stifled a laugh... Nobu aint real
Seikyo Khang scooted closer, just to RKO Nobu. Yes, Seikyo is attacking him moments before it fully ends.
Nobu Uemara FOLDED. LIKE A LAWNCHAIR.
Hanamura Hamada yells, "SEIKYO!"
Sébastien Monzetsu moved to avoid getting hit
Seikyo Khang says, "Nothing to see here." Hiding the evidence…
Sébastien Monzetsu RAN JUMPED ON SEIKYO
Seikyo Khang peaced out
Hanamura Hamada whispers, 'I swear they're trained.'
Hanamura Hamada yells, "SEBASTIEN!"
Seikyo Khang gripped Daehyun's ankle and yanked him in.
Hanamura Hamada covered her face. Hiding her laugh.
Nobu Uemara looked at the camera and mouthed. 'Send help PUHLEASE.' But some may not be able to decipher what he was mouthing..
Seikyo Khang pinched Nobu.

Zachery Carluccio wore a big smile; the size of Jupiter!
"It doesn't take an oracle to know the town is greatly excited for what's to come—for 5MC, for all music bands to later arise in inspiration to what you 7 have accomplished thus far."
He brought out his hands from beneath the water and gently clapped—ACK?! A look of pain!! His hands were COMPLETELY shriveled up like he'd been blasted by a flamethrower!
"F-. . Chii..." - "Thank you all for showing up to this interview and for the kind words said to the people. Have a good day, 5MC, and take that break!"
He went up and grabbed his camera, stopping the recording.

A lot to unpack there .. Wow! It’s nice to know that Ms. Hamada and Monzetsu are over whatever happened there in that video. I hope. Overall, it was a great time interviewing the bunch; they are all such amazing and talented people, and we all hope to see them again soon, whether it be on a stage or walking around town.
