Deep within the dark crevices of our town are the darkest secrets, ones that are often flaunted by those that behold them.
For as long as Karakura has existed, so too has its criminal underworld that thrives on and off. Many residents of each generation may be able to recall seeing those in dark attire and metal masks, or perhaps a victim of their escapades.
This will be an article focusing on the various hideouts that are sprinkled throughout the city that harbor crime and violence, something that hasn’t been openly seen for a few years now. Small territories that ring the bell to command bloodshed for who owns it and is thus the ‘rightful owner’ of that entire sector. Of course, one may wonder, will this affect the buildings that these bases of operation are attached to? That is something that remains to be seen.
I have personally entered each and every turf when their doors were unlocked, observing the race against time that each gang endured in order to claim what they desired. Surprisingly it is quite easy to enter such places so long as you hold no weapon, mask or crest.
Crime was arguably dying down up until this seeming release of these areas, which means that there was quite a surge in action from many gangs. Officers were seen constantly hounding these locations, though very few arrests were actually made.
Now, let’s get to answering the question clearly: these are criminal bases of operations for dangerous gangs that are known for maiming and killing. It is not ever advised to go near these locations unless you are merely passing by, and even then you must be quick lest you get their attention and suffer the possibility of being robbed or harassed. Beyond this warning, I will detail the locations and what gangs run them according to what I have gleaned from being inside.

A small office by the beach that has, for many years, been a turf. As many had known it, this quaint and unassuming location was called ‘Akihito Office’ and offered services to the public. Now, it is taken over by a gang known for its more professional appearance both in their attire and how they speak. Unlike many gangs, they do not shout ‘on top’ or hurl disgusting profanity at passers.
The office now totes itself as a security agency where you can hire protection for yourself, your family or even your business. Remarkably—and possibly due to being feared—they were rarely ever contested in laying claim upon this office.

Formerly known as Harada Autoparts, this used to actually be an auto-shop combined with a speakeasy. A speakeasy, to the uninformed, is an illegal bar that functions without a license or serves illegal alcohol that is banned within the country it operates in. Now, it is more akin to a dark damp dungeon that calls itself ‘The Crypt’ on a crude, poorly written sign above its door.
There is no legal or pleasant function of this building, however it is known for the immense struggles that three gangs had whilst attempting to control it early on. Many fights took place in the bar prior to its refurbishment and quite the blood was spilt over it, yet somehow a handful of its new residents are not the spitting image of your typical gang member. Many have a nicer exterior, though I wouldn’t bank on this nor encourage interacting with them.

The Tōge tunnel is rich with a criminal history that dates far back to one of our first Mayors, the Herringtons. Since then, it has been a hotspot for some of the most gruesome battles between man and—seemingly spirits as well.
Two doors are affixed to the tunnel that leads down into a broken and unflattering location that is held down by a gang with flashy attire and a crude attitude that commands your attention whether it is good or bad.
Naturally there is no positive or subjective function of this location since it is a partially destroyed tunnel that exposes the nasty smelling waters of the sewers. It is purely a base of operation.

To reiterate, these locations are akin to the long since decommissioned power plant where the wise choice is to avoid these locations as often as you can. Take this article as an educating warning from a reporter who had the displeasure of digging into each and every location.
That will be all from me for now. Thank you for your time, Karakura.
