Mayor Iwao Akihito was reportedly attacked while speaking at a press conference called to address the Onrain account “@people”. The account had been posting sensitive information about the local town government, as well as KPD, EMS, and even the school’s Senior Leadership Team. Mayor Akihito urged everyone to separate fact from fiction to prevent harm. He stated that they had been working with KPD to find out who was behind the account, stating that the former deputy mayor could not be ruled out as a suspect.
After the end of his statements about the ongoing situation, Mayor Iwao Akihito went on to take questions from the crowd. This was when an individual ran up to the stage holding a fire axe, and struck him in the back, before running off. Mayor Akihito was immediately taken to the hospital, while KPD pursued the suspect. They apprehended the suspect, and they are currently being held in custody.
The Mayor, seemingly in stable condition, made a post from his hospital bed: “Citizens of Karakura. They have not got me this time. We are going to do everything to stop this. Stay safe, we’re in this together.
