Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
Being a teacher is important because teachers shape the foundation of society by inspiring and educating the next generation. They’re not just passing on information but also helping students develop critical thinking, empathy, resilience, and the confidence to pursue their dreams. A good teacher can change the course of a student’s life, helping them discover their strengths and understand the world around them. Teachers provide stability, encouragement, and a safe space for learning and growth, which is especially important in a constantly changing world. By guiding students academically, emotionally, and socially, teachers build stronger communities and help create a better future.

In-Character Section
What's your character's full name?: Kayla Todoroki
What is your character's nationality?: French, English and Japonese
What is your preferred subject to teach?: English
Describe your character:
Kayla Todoroki has an unforgettable presence. With silver-white hair that seems to shimmer and striking pink eyes, she has a quiet beauty that draws people in. She’s naturally shy but observant, bilingual in French and English, which gives her a unique perspective and a soft, graceful way with words.
Though she’s reserved, she’s also deeply thoughtful, choosing her words carefully when she does speak. Her intelligence comes across not in how much she says but in the depth of her insights. Friends know her as someone who listens without judgment and understands on a level that few do.
What makes her truly unique is her mix of quiet strength and empathy, coupled with a natural curiosity about the world around her. As for her future, Kayla dreams of helping others, possibly in a field where her intuition and bilingual skills can shine—maybe psychology or writing. She may be soft-spoken, but she’s ready to make her mark in a way that’s all her own.
What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
Kayla Todoroki sees her students as individuals, each with unique potential. She believes that learning happens best when students feel understood and respected, so she’s patient, gentle, and committed to helping them find their voice in English.
With her co-workers, Kayla values collaboration. She’s eager to learn from others’ experiences and contribute to a supportive, positive environment. Though she’s more reserved, she looks forward to building real connections based on shared goals: helping students grow and succeed.
What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
Kayla Todoroki’s motivation for teaching comes from her own journey of adapting to different languages and cultures. Moving from Japan to France after her parents' divorce, she struggled to learn French and English, but her father’s support and the bilingual school they chose helped her not only learn but thrive. Language became a bridge that allowed her to adapt, connect, and eventually feel at home in a foreign culture. After her father’s passing and her return to Japan, Kayla felt the challenge of reconnecting with her Japanese roots and deeply understood how important language is in shaping identity and belonging.
Now, she wants to pass on that same gift to her students. She understands firsthand how language can open doors, create connections, and build confidence. As an English teacher, she’s driven to help students find their own voice in a new language, just as she did, and to give them the tools to navigate different worlds and perspectives. Kayla hopes to make language learning a way for her students to explore who they are, build connections, and feel empowered—just as it did for her.
Roleplay Scenarios
A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
If Kayla noticed a student struggling, she’d approach them with quiet encouragement, understanding how challenging language learning can be. She’d offer to explain things in a simpler way or provide extra examples, often using real-life scenarios to make the content feel more relatable. Kayla might even share some of her own experiences of struggling with new languages to help the student feel less alone.
If the student continued to have trouble, she’d suggest staying after class or meeting during a break, giving them a safe, pressure-free space to ask questions. Her goal would be to build their confidence step-by-step, helping them feel capable and supported without drawing too much attention to their struggles in front of the rest of the class.
A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
Kayla would address the disruptive student calmly, keeping her tone firm but gentle. She’d approach them in a way that didn’t embarrass them in front of others, perhaps by pausing her lesson to make eye contact and politely asking for their attention. If the behavior continued, she’d pull the student aside after class for a quiet conversation, aiming to understand why they were acting out and explaining how their behavior was affecting the class.
Instead of lecturing, Kayla would ask questions, giving the student a chance to express themselves and encouraging them to take responsibility. She’d work with them to set clear expectations and maybe even give them a small role in class to help them stay focused. Her goal would be to create a respectful environment where the student feels seen and valued but understands the importance of respecting others’ learning time.
Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
Kayla, as an English teacher, would love to make learning interactive and engaging for her students. Here are two ideas she might use:
1. Role-Play Scenarios: Kayla would create scenarios where students take on different roles in a story or situation—like a debate, a mystery, or an interview. For example, if they’re studying persuasive language, she might split them into groups to act out a courtroom scene, with some students as "lawyers" presenting arguments and others as "judges" deciding the case. This way, students can practice speaking and critical thinking in a fun, active way.
2. Cultural Exchange Projects: Drawing from her own multicultural background, Kayla might ask each student to research a country or culture where English is spoken. They could present on the country’s traditions, literature, or popular media, encouraging them to find something unique that interests them. As they share their findings with the class, it could open discussions about language, culture, and global perspectives, helping students feel more connected to the world.
