Edo Period(1604-1868)
In year 1604, during the Battle of Sekigahara, the Emperor at the time had pointed Tokugawa Ieyasu to Shogun. Ieyasu later established his reign in Edo, now known to us as Modern Tokyo. During that time, he had appointed an inspiring Historian named, ‘Itarō’. ‘Itarō’ would follow in the Shogun’s footsteps, tracing every important discussion, battle tactic, and courtships, all with ‘Itarō’ at his side. During a nightly stroll through the forest, ‘Itarō’ falls head over heels in love with a local woman underneath the canopy’s shadow. From that point on, ‘Itarō’ and this unknown woman would meet up under the cover of night and eventually, make a promise to one another. ‘Be mine, forever and always.’, from there, love blossomed within the falling leaves and the couple picked a name for themselves. To symbolize their courtship and love. ‘Mori’ would be chosen as their first child’s surname. Mori, meaning ‘Forest’ would live on through generations and decades in the Edo Period. The Mori’s would stay within documenting, but some branched off into the ways of the Shinobi.
During a family feud, the family would split and take on new names. Those who remained as Mori’s would call Tokyo their home for generations. Around 1810, The Mori Estate in Tokyo suddenly caught fire, as it was rumored that one of those Mori’s, who denounced the name, grew jealous. Jealous of the Mori’s and their high standing within the ever-growing town and its townsfolk. The Estate burned to the ground and the surrounding forest, their documents being burnt from the Early Edo Period, practically erasing them from existence. But, within the fire, a lone tree stood tall in the center courtyard. It is said to be protected by the Kami of Trees, Kukunochi. At that point, with embers burning at their feet, The Mori’s would rebuild. Making a promise they would rise from the ashes like a Phoenix. An immortal bird died and rebirthed as would The Mori’s, The Immortal Forest would be rooted in History.

Meiji Period(1868-1912)
During the Meiji Restoration, The Shinboi who denounced the Mori name eventually came back. After many family and council discussions, Three Branches of Mori’s were formed. Kin, Gin, and Kane were appointed as Heads of The Mori Clan. Kin, comes from the ‘Itarō’ Bloodline, the Historian in him would flow throughout The Mori’s who wish to gain more knowledge. Gin, the Newer Generation of The Mori’s, taking advantage of the wealth and power that The Mori’s had gained over the decades. And lastly, Kane, a returning member from the denounced name, took advantage of the shadows and word of mouth.
Kin was more focused on the histories and teaching. Gin was more focused on wealth and the luxuries that came with money. Kane was left alone, as much as his entire side of The Clan had received for centuries. Rage built up in his heart towards the other two leaders of The Clan. Using his knowledge of the past and the doubts of the current family, rumors would flow through the Three Branches. Firstly, Gin’s abuse of power within Tokyo and towards the townsfolk. Using his wealth and power to get everything that he wished, using it for his gain rather than the gain of the family. The rumors would cause his secrets to come out and he would eventually be banished from The Mori name. Causing shame in Gin’s branch, they disowned Gin and dispersed into the other two branches.
With Three, turn to two.
More rumors would surface themselves, this time on Kin. His Knowledge and History of the local area would cause some to worry about his mental state. Years before the Clans united, Kin’s Wife had sadly passed away due to an illness. This caused Kin to focus more on his studies and the teachings of the next generation. At first investigations, all would seem well within Kin and his branch. Until one day, Kin had been up on the nearby mountains, never to return to The Estate. Never to be seen again. It has been said he had lost his mind up in those mountains due to Amatsu-Mikaboshi, Kami of Chaos.
With Two, now turned to one
With Kane being in the shadows and away from those of earthly needs. He would be named the Leader of all three branches of Mori, leading them into the golden age of Mori’s. Those who saw Kane in this light would refer to him as, ‘Kane, The Hero of The Forest’. But those who saw his rage-filled heart would call him ‘Kane, The Metal Tongue’. Two sides of the same coin, Kane would set in The Mori Code; ‘To protect others, you must protect yourself.’
This would have many meanings throughout the years and decades, eventually, the code would stray from its original purpose and fade into; ‘To protect yourself, you must protect family’.

Taisho and Early Showa Period(1912-1945)
With the new motto in place and the family rebuilding. Kane, The Hero of The Mori’s placed in a new law within The Mori’s. Stay within the shadows, do not let them see your next move. And with that, The Mori’s would fade into the shadows throughout this entire period. Not much was recorded with the family during this time, it was also during this time. Around 1920, during the First World War, A new Mori would emerge from Kane’s ancient bloodline as the new leader, Daichi Mori — a young War veteran, who retired to the life of a civilian after losing an arm.
During Daichi’s rule of The Mori’s and his own experiences within the world, he would go back to the old ways of The Mori’s. He would give the new generation the history of the Family and how they have survived for so long. Some would take this to heart and fall back into the ways of Journalism, eventually branching off into government and eventually, News.
During the 1940s, Daichi’s youngest son would be born. Being given the name of Seiji Mori, would turn the tables for The Mori Clan into something more interesting, something The Clan hasn’t seen in several decades.

Postwar Period(1945-Current Day)
Seiji, as the Current Head of Mori, grew up in a strict household of rules and laws. With these in place, Seiji would look towards becoming a Police Officer in Tokyo’s Edogawa Ward. During a traffic stop, Seiji would first meet his future wife, Asa Bando. A few more years went by as Seiji’s friends set him up on a blind date with one of his friend's sisters, that sister happened to be the woman he pulled over those years ago. Asa and Seiji hit it off and eventually, Asa would marry into The Mori’s. Becoming Asa Mori-Bando on public documentation, but to passersby, she would be Asa Bando.
Seiji and Asa would eventually have three children. Hayami, Ichiro, and Kenji in Tokyo. After Kenji was born, Seiji was offered a promotion and a new position at the island in the Izu Archipelago, Karakura. In his ever-growing family, he would take on the opportunity and move to Karakura with some of his close advisers. Putting his children in the school system of Karakura and focusing on his new job in Karakura. Life would be good for several decades. Until it wasn’t.
February 14th, 1999 was the worst year for The Mori’s since The Kane Reign. On the doorsteps of Karakura Town Hall, Hayami Mori would have been murdered out of cold blood. Seiji was drowned in grief and revenge, disobeying what his commissioner was telling him. He would look into the death of his daughter, this caused him to show signs of revenge. After Kajiyashiki was taken into custody and eventually moved to where he was now, Seiji would look through The Kajiyashiki Household to find love letters that were addressed to his daughter. Upon further investigation, he would eventually put everything together. Kiya had a crush on Hayami, being rejected a couple of times by her through letters. Kiya loved Hayami, but Hayami did not feel the same. Causing his mind to grow sick, sick from love.
At the end of February, Seiji would publicly retire back to Tokyo with his family. Leaving some Mori’s in Karakura to keep a lookout on the situation and how the town handled Hayami’s death. Hayami Mori is currently buried at the Karakura Church's Graveyard. It has been rumored that several Mori’s from the family had stayed within the town, playing into Lord Kane’s way of shadows. Hidden. Watching. Wandering. Seiji and The Mori’s would remain in Edogawa for years. Until Kenji had returned from his Trip around Asia with his wife and first granddaughter, Yuma Mori. Yuma would grow up closely with Seiji and she would hear about Hayami and her death. This would set Yuma on the path of knowledge, of a historian, of a news reporter. She is currently employed at Karakura News.
Her siblings; Sora, Shin, and Saran. Sora would be a Teacher for Karakura High after finishing her degree in Tokyo and wanting to be close to her older sister. Shin rarely contacts the family after he has gone into the Japanese Military, he only contacts and visits the family during holidays and around the celebration of Hayami’s death. It is unclear what he does for work. Saran is the youngest of the four and is currently enrolled in Karakura High, usually spotted around Sora or Yuma with his sketchbook.
As of current, The Mori’s. The Immortal Forest has re-rooted themselves in Karakura. With goals in mind for both Family and Friendship, The Mori’s is an ever-lasting storybook with many more chapters to come.
