Describe your activity on the server:
OVERALL
I consider myself to be an incredibly active and well experienced role player within SchoolRP. I ensure that my routine within School Roleplay stays stable as to where I can log on for a minimum of 3-6 hours a day. Usually my maximum hours being limit to 18. Though yes, I do have a separate life outside of the server, especially when I am at school I make sure to equally balance out my schedules to where I can still maintain my high activity. I am rarely 'AFK' and instead engage in many roleplay scenarios on my other account and I am fairly certain that I meet activity requirements with as much time that I spend on the server daily. I have been roleplaying for about 3 years now.

What position are you applying for (Maiden or Priest)?
Maiden

What is your motivation for applying?
My main motivation for applying just curiosity on how this server runs a Shrine Monastery that is referenced from Japan. I know a lot about churches, which to my surprise there is a church in the town. Though when I look at the differences between the Church and the Shinsei Seinaru Monastery I see more than just a few. While yes they both worship things, the things they are worshipping about are entirely different.

When I first joined this community and began immediately exploring the map I discovered something known as Shintoism. Now when I first heard of this I thought it was just a fictional religion yet to my surprise it was real. It was real and it resonated with Japan's culture. I was obviously more curious about this and thought what it would be like to be a Shrine Maiden, yet every time I had the chance to apply I was busy with something else. This time I'm not risking a perfectly good chance anymore. I'm curious to learn more about what I already have researched about

Whenever I go to the shrine I am always welcomed. It never failed that someone doesn't welcome me and that makes the whole monastery feel warming and safe to go. The Maiden's are extremely friendly regardless of someone's background or own specific culture. They're happy to tend to a visitor of their home. I make it a habit to get a reading once in a while, surprisingly it works for me and it usually predicts what my character has or is going to go through in their personal adventures. The last few times I went I think they moved the Ema wall towards the upper level of the shrine. The Ema wall is what I assume people put their wishes and good words on. Wishing luck on family or themselves or being thankful for what they have.

What do you currently know about Shintoism? Are you willing to learn more about it?
There is not one bit of me that claims to know everything, though I have done my personal research to provide my best response for this question.

KAMI
Kami, also known as "Spirits" is the main heart of Shinto belief. Kami is a spiritual force that exists in everything. For example, natural phenomena, animals, human ancestors and objects, abstract forces! Some are considered gods and others are considered local. The way Kami is worshipped and how they behave shapes Japanese daily life. Just like there is good luck there is also bad luck, Kami can protect and bless humans roaming the earth in such a lively way, while others may cause misfortune and disasters if not respected properly. It is important to treat Kami with respect, the same respect you would want to be treated with. They do not live on forever, they need to be remembered to stay strong. This is why spiritual offerings are held and extremely vital to sustain the bond between humans and Kami

A Kami you may see often, are the Kitsunes. Kitsune in English means FOX but it typically refers to the supernatural fox spirits. Beings that possess intelligence and the ability to shape shift. In Shinto belief, Kitsune are messengers and servants of Inari Ōkami, the Kami of rice, fertility, agriculture, and prosperity. Kitsunes first appeared as sacred animal messengers of Inari Shrines. There you'll see fox statues everywhere often seen holding a symbolic item; A key (to rice granary), a jewel (for prosperity), a scroll (wisdom) or a sheaf of rice (abundance). As a Kitsune grows, it gets an added tail, up to nine.

TORII GATE
When you hear the word Torii gate, it is exactly what you think of, a gate. A torii gate is a traditional Japanese gate that is the entrance to a sacred place, most often a Shinto shrine. It symbolizes the transition from the human realm to the sacred world of the Kami. You may often see people bow down just before they enter the gate, it is a gesture of respect to the Kami. They are typical a dark red-orange color, to ward off evil and symbolize protection. There are many types of torii gates, the two important ones called, 'Shinmei Torii' and 'Myōjin Torii.'

There is only one right way to act around a torii gate, you always bow before entering and enter through the side of the gate. The middle is reserved only for the Kami. If you wish to leave you must repeat your bow again as it is showing respect to our different worlds.

As for the ranks in the Shrine Monastery I am willing to learn more about them as I’m not very educated on their roles and responsibilities

Backstory
Born in Japan, Tsusuiteddo Feito grew up in a small and worn-down neighborhood at the edge of Osaka. Her childhood was full of quietness. Not the kind that comforts you yet the kind that settled into walls after the shouting cuts off. Adopted by a man who thought a child would fix the hauntings of his own failures.. Instead he often took his anger out on her. Money in her household was rare, the gaining of affection was much worse. Early in her new life she learned quickly that the safest way to survival was by staying quiet and small

Despite the chaos at home, Tsusuiteddo had developed much more curiosity and a gentle heart. Her favorite activity consisted of drawing on the back of the news papers her father discarded. She dreamt that one day she’d see the world beyond the dirty streets she’d grown up on. Yet by the time she reached high school her spirit to fulfill her dreams dimmed. Her light was dying beneath the constant weight of fear and exhaustion. She stopped caring about her good grades, hated to show up, stopping having faith in her future.

One day it all changed when she met Vitale. An italian boy who was merely just on a school tour for his culinary class. To her, he was bright, impulsive and full of life to give to her. He was everything she wanted to be. They spent a week together wandering forests, exploring the monasteries and talking about new dreams. His trip having ended too soon for her to process. He made a promise to her, to text every day. And for once someone did. For once someone enjoyed who she was deep down. The person she had to hide for her own survival. Texts became hours worth of a call, calls became video calls. The two of them had became best friends. Eventually he asked her to come live with him, in Italy.

When she turned 16 she packed up all her belongings into a small suitcase. She carried her sketchbook in hand and left without a goodbye. Yet in Italy she felt so free. Freedom she craved dearly and finally found.. Vitale’s family immediately welcomed her with warmth and greetings that she never knew existed. Though her Japanese accent marked her as a foreigner to Italy, she still smiled again.. Vitale spent months teaching her Italian from scratch. Getting help from neighbors.. All in the midst of it… She found love in the gentle chaos of his world. Found love with him.

By the time it was her time to go back home, she had been 18 and wanted to make more adult decisions. Her boyfriend wanted to meet the man who raised her. Yet what he was met with was not the gentleness he thought she had. Her father’s reaction was explosive. He merely viewed Vitale as a reason his adoptive daughter abandoned him and in the middle of a violent confrontation Tsusuiteddo found herself thrown against the wall, hitting her head. The injury left her with a chronic memory impairment, particularly affecting her short-term recall. Memories seem to fade within days and others come back in pieces. The most heartbreaking times is when she forgets her boyfriend, Vitale. Ever since then, she’s been told to wear a small silver locket with their picture inside. Their way of keeping her to remember the love they’d built from her past

Months after the incident the two in love moved to America for a fresh start. They married quietly just the two of them at a courthouse, promising that their love was stronger than what she could and couldn’t remember. Yet life grew complicated, Vitale’s work as a travel photographer kept him constantly on the move.. And his wife’s heart remaining tethered to Japan, the place she felt both a curse and root in

They made an agreement to live apart yet together at the same time. Maintaining a healthy long-distance marriage built on trust, daily calls and the locket that never leaves her neck. Tsusuiteddo now works small jobs in Japan, her education is unfinished but her passion never wavering.. She journals daily, sketching and writing about the life she may forget about tomorrow. A work of memory, love and survival. It’s become her ritual every morning that before she steps outside, she looks in her locket and repeats “This is who I love. This is who I am.”
CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE / SITUATIONS

How does your character act around shrine grounds? How do they interact with guests and other staff?

Teddo finds a liking to the green tea made in the shrine home. She often drinks it when she is alone. (It’s become quite an addiction..)

Teddo walks over towards the Tori gate as she spots new guests entering. Watching them bow before entering on the side she greeted them with a warm and welcoming toothy smile. “Welcome! I’m Tsusuiteddo, is there anything I can do for you ma’am?” She asks the guest and just as they say no she bows, nodding “Let me know if anything changes.” Teddo pivots just about to turn, yet before she could walk off they stop her with an “Um.. Actually..” She turns back, her smile hadn’t left at all. Did she love it this much here? Teddo steps closer to them, her head tilting as they ask about the Shrine. It had been their first time in Japan. Teddo gladly walks them around giving them an educational tour to her home.

You see a guest jumping around the roofs of the building and overall disrespecting shrine grounds, how would your character handle it?
Teddo spots a guest disrespecting shrine grounds by climbing buildings and jumping around on roofs. She takes a deep breath before approaching, softly yet just loud enough to grab their attention she asks, "Could you please step down from there and keep your respect to our Shrine?" The way she said our was inclusive on the guest too. She alone does not have this shrine. It is everyone's. Teddo waits patiently for them to gravitate back onto the floor, she never expects a sorry or an apology but understanding that they realize what they had done was wrong. Once the issue was dealt with, she heads back over to the Tori gate in search of new entering guests.. None seen, Teddo heads back into the house to make another green tea!

Why does your character want to become a shrine maiden/priest? What do they wish to achieve?
As someone who went through the things that she did in her life, she longs for stillness. Not the feeling of suffocating in her quiet childhood, but the kind that brings her a peaceful feeling and meaning to live a gentle life. Throughout her life she has been dealing with loss, the loss of her memory and the violence she endured daily. Constantly struggling to remember who she is and has become. Serving at the Shrine as a maiden represents her personal form of healing. Her own way of reconnecting with something sacred and eternal. Especially when her own memories are seen to often slip and crumple away.

Tending to offerings, she finds a belonging that doesn't depend on memory but on the presence of her spirit. Every bow and experience of the shrine grounds. Every devoted whisper becomes her practice of remembering. Not her past, but her soul. She hopes that devoting herself to spiritualistic practice she can find a way to forgive what originally broke her and honor love that had saved her, preserving her soul in something bigger than just her memory. Becoming a shrine maiden is her own way of channeling her pain into peace. For herself and a way to show others that there is a reason to seek light in their own darkness.
What are the core values of your character? (OPTIONAL - MORE INFO IN FAQ)
COMPASSION
Teddo's compassion was born from her past suffering. The home she grew in where love was substituted with hate and anger. She learned that it is important to show people the gentleness they deserve, the love she craved for so long. Because she knows what it feels like to not matter and be unseen-unloved, she naturally reverts her own experience into kindness to others. Especially to those who are suffering quietly. The people who think they are shielding it from others, the actions that Teddo can see very clearly. Her compassion isn't outgoing or loud, it is the way she listens. The patience she endures with others. The care and attention she shows to others. She isn't met with anger at her father, she believes that healing begins with being understood by those who may not.

FORGIVENESS
For Tsusuiteddo, forgiveness is not always about forgetting. It's about releasing pent up weight that burdens her and anchors her back to the memories of her past. Her father's cruel behavior that left deep scars, she refuses any hatred left to define her so to control this she instead sees forgiveness as an act of freedom. The freedom she always longed for as a child. Each day she practices it even in the smallest ways. She forgives herself for forgetting things, she forgives when others cannot change. And she especially forgives her father for not knowing a child would not fix anything. It's her own special way of letting go to let in peace over hatred.

RESILIENCE
Despite every hard choice and hard event - abandonment, trauma, memory loss - Tsusuiteddo continues to evolve. Her strength is not a fiery kind. It is a gentle persistence of herself that refuses to disappear especially when things get the toughest. She rebuilds herself every day through offerings and rituals, journaling and faith. Even if she manages to forget the past day, she begins again. The strength defines her most. Not because she barely breaks but merely because she always chooses to rebuild when she does.

CREATIVITY
Journaling and sketching is her lifeline. A place where she can jot down stuff she may forget in the future. Through drawing and writing, Teddo preserves what her mind may not be able to. Creativity gives herself a strong outspoken voice to save her when words fail. It allows her to reconnect to her truest self, each line, each word, is an act of her personal memory. Not only that yet it helps her memory rebuild.

LOVE
Love is a guide to her. It is fragile and forever, her relationship with Vitale, taught her that love can go beyond distance and even memory. And every day that she looks at the locket repeating her every day statement. It is love.. Not just romantic. Her love shapes how she treats others, it fuels her compassion, her forgiveness.. Her resilience and her love for creativity.
