Why are teachers so important to SchoolRP?
I believe that teachers play a big part of the SRP community. Teachers are there to help the students to find their potential and to make sure that the students are able to get their education and be able to move forward with their schooling, they also are there to help the students find their skills as well to help them become better adults in the future, Not only that but they are there to be leaders and help shape the world of the eyes of teenagers. Teachers are the backbone of the board's education. They are found to be role models to the students as they help them develop the needs of the outside world. To this day, teachers are known to be everything in a community, rather than being a parent, or being a cashier at a store, there is always someone being a teacher to another adult.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?
Yes.

Do you agree to undergo teacher training if your application is successful?
Yes.

What’s your character’s full name?
“My name is Sarang Maru.”

What is your character’s nationality?
“Oh- well I’m a Korean-Spanish woman.”

What is your preferred subject to teach?
Design Tech (Workshop)

Describe your character.
Sarang Maru is a bright, intelligent 4’6” Korean-Spanish woman with soft, muddy brown hair that falls past her shoulder alongside chocolate colored eyes. She’d stroll around the hall, known for being gentle hearted that makes students and colleagues feel at ease around her. Outside of the classroom, often finds herself enjoying activities such as knitting in her free time, using it as a way to reflect and unwind herself. Though currently single, she holds onto hope to one day find a husband who she falls deeply in love with, someone who’d share her dreams of raising a family together with. Sarang has dreamt of being a teacher since she was a little girl, when the mind was still free. She enjoyed watching and helping her teachers in any way that she could and would even play a make-believe teacher to her stuffed animals and dolls. As she grew, her focus on becoming a teacher did as well.. She studied hard and graduated high school as the Valedictorian, making her parents and siblings proud. When deciding which college to attend, she knew she had to pick the one with the best education program, which is exactly what she did. Finally, after many years, she was done with school and was ready to start her journey as a teacher. She worked in a small town high school for a few years, gaining some experience before deciding to move back to Karakura where her family was located.

What is your character’s outlook on students and co-workers?
Sarang Maru looks towards students and her co-workers with utmost respect and empathy! She believes that every student has potential waiting to be discovered, no matter the background or their learning pace. With a touch of patience and slight encouragement, she looks towards creating a supportive environment where the students can feel safe to express themselves and grow creative! As for her colleagues, she values the teamwork and kindness in the workplace. She enjoys sharing ideas, learning from others and believes that a strong team sets the foundation for a successful school community.

What is your character’s motivation for teaching?
Sarang Maru’s motivation for teaching comes from a lifelong passion tailored towards creativity and the desire to inspire the next generation to think with not only their heads, but with their hands as well. As a child, she found joy in crafting and building.. Turning just simple materials into structures. That joy turned into a purpose as she grew older, realizing how powerful design can be in helping students express themselves by solving real world problems. For her, teaching is more than just a job.. It’s a way to pass on that spark of innovating.. confidence.. care for every student who walks into her classroom.

ROLEPLAY SCENARIOS

A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?
She approached the student with a calm manner, crouching beside the desk to speak at eye level. She’d offer the student other ways of explaining, namely visual aid by showing pictures.. “Mymy.. Could you see me after class so we could talk over the material at your pace?” She said with empathy, making the student feel supported but not singled out. Before getting up from her feet she would place a hand on the students shoulder giving them a way of support. Standing on her feet as she would speak to the others in a light happy manner way " Alright Class, Remember if you need any help, don't be scared to ask, or to raise your hand and i will come over to you " As she stepped away from the student that was struggling a little with understanding the content.

A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?
Sarang paused her statement, the student in the class being too loud for her to continue in this moment. “Miss Jin. Could you please calm down and focus on the topic? This will be on the homework and you’re currently distracting your peers from learning.” she stated to the young woman before her. She waited for a moment before continuing her lesson, only to pause once again as the young woman continued being disruptive. “Miss Jin, what did I just say? If you continue this behavior, I’ll have no choice but to dismiss you from class. This is your last warning.” With that, she continued on with her lesson. She didn’t enjoy having to discipline students, but knew it was necessary to host a good class and keep the students in check.
If the student were to continue from there, as stated previously, she would dismiss the student from the class since they were given two warnings beforehand and told on the final warning they would not receive another.

Provide at least two interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject.

“Tiny homes.. BIG Ideas!” - Popsicle stick challenge
Each student or small group will design and construct a miniature “Tiny home” or a functional structure using popsicle sticks, glue and basic crafting materials given out by the teacher. The goal is to teach design principles like structure, stability and space efficiency. Sarang would encourage students to draw inspiration from real world structures, guiding them through brainstorming blueprints and bringing their ideas to life through hands on building! This activity promotes teamwork, awareness and problem solving in a fun, yet engaging format.

“Stitch, stitch, stitch!” - Knit your own pair of.. mm… cozy socks
In this project, students will learn the basics of knitting by creating their very own custom pair of socks. Sarang will begin the class by teaching basic knitting techniques such as casting on, knitting, purling and shaping the heel. Each student will choose their own yawn color and pattern (Striped, solid, ribbed etc.), allowing the students creativity and freedom to go ham! Through the project, Sarang guides the students in reading knitting patterns, fixing common mistakes and letting them understand the structure of clothes. Not only will students gain patience and precision, but they’ll walk out of the class with some cozy handmade socks they can wear with pride.
