Describe your activity on the server:
In all honesty, within the past month or so, I haven’t been as active as the average player. Between school, extracurricular activities, and devoting myself to real-life commitments, it's been difficult to dedicate consistent time to roleplay. With that being said, SRP has been something I genuinely enjoy, and I've been eager to throw myself back in and become involved again. With the holiday approaching and all my real-life commitments coming to an end, I'm willing to change that and believe I’m ready. I plan to use this time to reconnect with the community, take part in more IC events, and improve what I have enjoyed most on this server: roleplay. Despite not always being the most active player in the past, I'm reliable when it comes to committing to something. I'm hoping to gradually grow more comfortable initiating roleplay scenarios as opposed to just throwing myself into ongoing ones. Overall, I want to be there for the server and watch it grow as an active member, engaging in any way I possibly can. I believe that, alongside a more open schedule and renewed sense of motivation that I have, I can become a consistently active and valuable part of the community.

tldr; busy the PAST month, active now and will continue to be active

What is your motivation for applying?:
In general, I’ve been wanting to apply to KPD for some time now: about a year or so. However, the one thing that held me back was my fear of rejection. I will be transparent. When I originally wanted to apply, I didn’t have the best reputation due to GangRP. With that being said, I do believe that people only got to see me on a surface level, allowing such opinions of me. Although I will admit I wasn’t the best, my GangRP peak was about two years ago now. Over the past year, I’ve been through a lot, hard launching me into a new level of maturity. With that being said, you never know what will happen until you try. That’s when I decided that I was committing to applying to KPD. Along with that, like I mentioned in my activity, my schedule is now completely free, as I have completed everything I really needed to this school year. This reassured me that now is the time I should apply.

What knowledge do you have of police work?
Although I have never been in the faction, I have had multiple encounters with KPD. Whether it was because I knew people in the faction or because of my own experiences with the criminal aspect, I’d say my knowledge is pretty solid.
For metagame purposes, I’m not putting the meanings down.

Main Division Ranked Highest to Lowest. Everyone starts as a Cadet and slowly works their way up. They also have the choice to change to the detective division

Commissioner -
The highest-ranking officer and head of the Karakura Police Department, regardless of the division. They handle the bigger decisions, like events.

Captain/Detective Superintendent - The leads to their respective departments; these two are basically the 2nd-in-command to the commissioner. They manage everything in relation to their departments.

Lieutenant- The higher-ups of the police force. Their main job is to monitor the lower ranks and to notify the captain or Commissioner if anything bad is happening.

Sergeant - Another one of the many important roles in the force. I don’t know much about this position, but if I'm correct, they train the new cadets.

Corporal - The next step after being a PO, Corporals are responsible for helping things run smoothly, along with the regular police duties like POs.

Patrol Officer - Patrol officers are regular officers who have just passed their 2 weeks of training. They are expected to perform regular police duties.

Cadet - Cadets are the lowest rank, consisting of those who are newly accepted. They are yet to take their evaluations to become a PO and are required to undergo 2 weeks of training. They are not allowed to patrol on their own under any circumstances; they must be accompanied by a higher-ranking officer. Because of this, they tend to stick to tasks such as desk duty or taking reports.

Equipment
Explanation
Stats
Handcuffs
Handcuffs are one of the most essential items. They can be used as a temporary restraint or to detain/arrest a person.
- If the subject is stunned, it is honors.
- On the other hand, if the person isn’t stunned, it requires a roll to cuff them if they wish to resist.
- One block range.
- Cannot be mugged.
Stun Blaster
Stun blasters are one of the most basic items in the faction. The effect lasts about a minute before becoming unstunned. Adding to that, majors are gained if tased.
- Cannot be mugged.
- Cannot be used in water.
- About an 8-block range.
Tranquilizer
A long-range device that can temporarily immobilize a suspect for about a minute.
- Cannot be mugged.
- Has about a 25-30 block range.
- Requires a roll to be taken out when in range of a suspect
- Also requires an action, and if I'm correct, a roll to reload two darts into the chamber.
- Knocks a person out for a minute.
Body Camera
A camera that is attached to an officer's uniform that is constantly recording.
- Cannot be mugged.
- Waterproof.
- Able to be broken with a blunt or sharp weapon.
Baton
One of the few offensive items an officer has that is used in a close-range combat situation.
- 2 block range.
- Like other blunt weapons, it requires 2 hits to the head for a KO.
- Muggable.
- Must action to take it out if in range.
Police Radio
Used by officers to communicate through KPD and EMS. Often used to communicate with officers in other locations and to send codes.
- Cannot be mugged.
- Can be broken by blunt and sharp weapons.
Gas Mask
Utilized by both KPD and EMS to prevent effects from chemicals such as pepper spray.
- 'Immune' to pepper spray.
- Mainly seen when in riot gear.
- Can be mugged.
Riot Shielf
You are able to use the riot shield in two different ways: offense and defense. Depending on which hand it’s in, it depends on how you use it. When in your main hand, the officer cannot use an offensive weapon. But on the other hand (literally and metaphorically), the shield will be put aside, allowing the officer to use an offensive weapon.
- Similar to the gas mask, this is typically seen when an officer is in riot gear.
- This is another item that can be mugged.
Luminol Spray
Luminol spray can be applied to items to detect any blood that cannot be seen by the human eye.
- ItemRP.
- Must be actioned.
Pepper Spray
A device that is utilized by both KPD and EMS. Pepper spray is used to temporarily blind a suspect.
- Effects do not work on a person with a gas mask.

Why is Police important to SchoolRP?
KPD brings a sense of balance to the chaos SRP has in store. CrimeRP/GangRP is one of the biggest “factions” people turn to. With that being said, since the drive is so strong, crime naturally brings chaos. Without KPD, not only would the crime rates be through the roof, but EMS would also be completely overwhelmed. On top of that, everyone, no matter what RP they take part in, loses some sort of roleplay. Whether it’s EMS working as a team with KPD, gangs trying to overthrow the government for the 13755th time, criminals being interrogated, internships, potential school tours, and more. Police work adds more realism, something I know SRP tries to maintain. Adding onto that, KPD can also be a part of city-wide events, engaging the whole server.

Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are needed to attend or you will be punished?
I understand, it is my responsibility to be active and attend training as needed. Failure to do so will result in punishment.

What's your character's full name?:
“Hello, my name is Alani Keloha! It's a pleasure to meet you.”

How old is your character (if accepted)?:
“I am currently 25.”

What are your character's gender and pronouns?:
“I am female and I go by she/her.”

Please select your highest academic role at the time of writing this application:
(Grade-12/Bachelors/Masters/PhD):

“I’m currently working on my bachelor’s; I’m majoring in criminal justice, along with taking a few psychology classes.”

What languages does your character know besides Japanese?:
“I speak fluent Hawaiian and Japanese. I’m trying to pick up some Spanish, though.”
Describe your character; how they look, what makes them unique?:nookski_comm.png
Although not intimidating, Keloha stands proud at 5’2”, carrying herself with a quiet confidence that demands attention without needing to ask for it. Her long brown hair cascades effortlessly down her back, streaked with faint sun-kissed tones that catch the light when she moves. With a warm complexion and eyes that hold a subtle sparkle of mischief, she exudes an easy charm. Once the image of carefree college life, Keloha has grown into a balance of sophistication and comfort, her simple yet bold style reflecting both her adventurous spirit and her grounded authenticity. (NOT a real KPD uniform, it's the one jocks ran around in for fun. Also creds to bheom for art i love u)
How does your character act in a professional/casual situation?:
“I’d say I act the same in both professional and casual situations, calm and composed.”

In the past, Alani was the loudest in the room. With that being said, as she matured, she began to realize there was a time and place. Now the woman tends to be relatively meek. In a professional setting, she aims to get the job done and get it done right. In this case, she would speak when spoken to, refer to her coworkers only by last names, and collaborate as needed. With that said, she remains the same in casual situations, except she’s a bit more open. In a casual situation, she’d initiate more conversations, cracking jokes if it’s appropriate. She’d allow her personality to shine through, never failing to lose her spark from her college years. However, she still maintains a sense of balance. No matter how casual the situation is, she’ll make sure that she isn’t crossing any boundaries.

What is their outlook on the idea of co-workers & teamwork? :
“I love working with people, that’s all I know after all - I used to be on the football team!”

Although the woman matured over the years and simply.. Calmed down. Alani continuously thrives with teamwork. Previously being on the Spartan football team, it was engraved into her head that her team was her family. Whenever her team needed something, she’d jump to help. Now going into adult life, her pride still shamelessly sits with her. Even if it’s not like school rivalry, she acknowledges that they’re all working towards a similar goal. Alani believes that teamwork is necessary in an environment like this. In fact, she would prefer it that way. Of course, teamwork makes things run smoother and faster, but it’s also about the connections you make with people. Teamwork has the opportunity to make sure the job is done without mistakes, along with opening up the opportunity to create new bonds.

Life in Hawaii
Stubborn heart, stubborn mind - a phrase that structured the mindset Alani had so tediously put together. One that followed her like a shadow she never asked for but learned to live with. It wasn't something she chose, not something she was trained into. It was instinct, raw and unfiltered. A survival mechanism that she had stitched into the fabric of her childhood. A weapon. A shield. Whatever name people gave it, it was simply who she was.

Even as a kid, the world around her seemed to operate on expectations she never quite fit into - grades, test scores, class rankings. Everyone else treated these things like lifelines, but Alani? She had treated them as background noise, one that she could easily tune out. She had one focus, one obsession, one place where the pressure of everything else slipped off her shoulders.

Football. The grass seeping its way into the crevices of her cleats, the slam of her heartbeat in her ears, and the solid thud of the ball against her foot. That was her escape, her sanctuary. The field never asked her to be perfect. It didn't punish her for being angry or loud or even a little stubborn. It didn't judge her. It let her run, breathe, and exist.

Her home life wasn't a nightmare by any means. No shouting matches, no broken bottles, no locked doors. Instead, she had a rather nice house, a stable life, supportive parents whose love was steady even when their patience ran short. She had more than most kids ever saw - opportunities, travel, activities, a future she had never really cared to plan. It was a comfortable childhood, even if it wasn't always an easy one.

But that version of life lasted only until the day everything quietly, subtly, then violently shifted.

News of Karakura
She had remembered the moment her best friend told her they were moving to Karakura like a scar. One that ran deep, unforgettable, the kind of memory that lingers in the back of your mind and stings whenever you breathe too deeply. The announcement wasn't malicious nor was it dramatic. Just a casual confession over what had seemed to be a surface level conversation. One that had required a new city, a new school, a real chance at a sports career. One that Alani had so desperately searched for.

A dream realized.

Just not hers.

The idea of being left behind wasn't one that could be described as just sad. It tore something open in her chest. - the thought of watching someone she loved run toward what they wanted while she stayed stuck in the same place, on the same island, in the same exact routine?

Unacceptable.

Constant fighting
Alani had always been able to bend the world just enough to get exactly what she wanted. She had fought for things, demanded things, earned things, forced things. And now, more than anything, she wanted out.

Her parents, however, wanted nothing of the sort.

The idea of their daughter leaving home, leaving the state, the country? That was one that sent them into a spiral of unshakeable fear. They couldn't imagine letting their stubborn, impulsive child fly across the ocean alone. It didn't matter how carefully she explained her dreams, or how passionately she argued, or how many late night conversations dissolved into desperate pleas. Their answer was solid. Immoveable.

No.

The kind of no that didn't budge no matter how loud she screamed.

That refusal changed something in her.
Disappointment soured into resentment, and resentment somehow calcified into something hotter, heavier. A quiet kind of anger. The kind that isn't exactly the type to explode, but it still simmers, bubbles, and burns slow enough to poison everything else.

The house became a war zone. Arguments sparked over the smallest things and were quick to escalate into nightly battles. Voices rose, doors slammed, tears fell in frustration, not sorrow. Her parents insisted they were trying to protect her; Alani insisted they were attempting to cage her. No one won. No one even knew what winning even meant anymore.

Eventually, after years of a cold war the never quite ended, her parents finally relented.
But with a twist that she had never saw coming.

Her father gave her a smile she knew too well. One that grew even more patronizing, confident, and strategic until the words had finally flowed out of his mouth, "If you do go, you have to take your little sister, Leylani with you."

The words had hit her like some painful betrayal.

After all the fighting she had done, all the pushing, all the begging, suddenly Leylani was the one who got a free ticket? A pass to the life Alani had fought so hard for? No struggle, no sacrifice.. just handed the opportunity Alani had bled for?

It felt cruel. Unfair. Infuriating.

But Alani's pride was larger than her anger, and her determination was volumes louder than her fear. So she had swallowed everything down. Her resentment, disbelief, bitterness, and said yes. She packed her bags with shaking hands, grabbed Leylani's suitcase, and boarded the plane that carried her away from everything she had known.

Free at last.

Or so she thought.

Short-lived success
Karakura should have been a new beginning. Instead, it was treated as a magnifying glass over every unhealed wound she had ignored her whole life. Every glance at Leylani felt like salt in a wound that had refused to close. Her sister wasn't the cause of her pain, but she acted as the reminder. Of the compromise. Of the unfairness of her parents' words, the cost.

As time passed in Karakura, Alani became colder. Sharper. She shut down piece by piece. Leylani didn't understand. How could she? She was young, confused, and alone in a foreign place with a sister who felt like a stranger disguised in Alani's skin.

In an act of desperation, Leylani made one decision she believed would fix everything. She called their father.

And one random day, with no warning and no explanation, he showed up at Alani's dorm.

The betrayal scorched her. But reality doesn't bend for emotions. How could it? By the end of the week, her father had packed her onto the next flight home, whilst Leylani stayed behind in Karakura.
The life Alani believed she was meant to chase slipped through her fingers like water. Unstoppable, uncaring, gone.

Reform
Back in Hawaii, the silence hit her first. No arguments, no chaos, no distractions. Just quiet. And in the quiet, reflection finally had room to grow.

For the first time, she looked inward instead of outward. Looked at her choices instead of her anger. Looked at her future instead of her pride.

Time had humbled her.

She found discipline in unexpected places. Internships with the police department, long hours spent learning structure instead of fighting it, discovering responsibility in ways sports had never taught her. The work was certainly demanding. Strict. Unforgiving. But she had learned to finally embrace that. To use it. To rebuild herself into someone steady, someone focused, someone intentional.

Not the girl who ran from problems or toward chaos.
But a woman who could face both without even flinching.

Present day
And now, at 25, she finds herself stumbling back into Karakura.

Not as the furious college student clawing her way out of a cage.
Not as the stubborn girl who thought strength meant refusing to bend.
But as someone smarter, calmer, and quieter; however, she was not weak. She could never be weak.

Her bright smile returns as she steps into the doorway of her interview. The same smile she had worn the day she first arrived here all those years ago, carrying her anger like armor. Only now, her heartbeat thunders not with rage, but with a purpose.

She walks forward not as the reckless version of herself she was, but as the woman she had fought to become

Can you legally own a pocket knife in Karakura?
“No, it is not legal to own a pocket knife. If you were found with one, you would be charged with possession of illegal weaponry and sentenced to prison. The charge alone is a felony, and more charges could be added with signs of use on the knife.”

Name 5 medical items that do NOT require a prescription
The woman pulled out a notepad, reading out loud.
"5 things you can get without a prescription in Happy Pills Pharmacy: Melatonin for ¥3,000, Iron supplements for ¥2,500, Multivitamins for ¥3,500, Aspirin for ¥4,500, and Paracetamol ¥1,500."

If you see your co-workers physically abusing an inmate, what should you do?
“My first instinct would be to radio for another co-worker before stepping in, separating the two. If another co-worker is available, I would ask them to calm down our mutual co-worker and interrogate them on what happened. While they do that, I’d assess the inmate for any possible injuries. And if needed, I’d call for medical assistance, of course. If they’re okay, I would begin questioning the inmate myself, asking them for their side of the story. Of course, you can’t fully believe the he-said-she-said of a situation. That being said, I would personally check the cameras myself, also reviewing the bodycam footage of the assaulting officer. Once everything is settled, I’ll make sure the inmate is safe inside their cell before reporting what I gathered as needed.”

What should you do if you see your co-worker being assaulted?
This is the first time Alani had a physical response. She gulped, hopefully not audibly. This is one of the more .. high-stress parts of the job, but sadly, it’s realistic.

“Well, logically, I believe it depends on the situation at hand. If it’s just my co-worker and I, along with 2 others. Those being the assailants, I believe my best bet would be yelling at them to get away before using my taser to immobilize them. That’s if they didn’t have weapons, of course. If I immobilize them, I could quickly detain them and ensure my fellow officer is okay. However, say it was 2 or more people WITH weapons. That is a different situation. My first thought would be to call for backup — Code 0 if needed. Although it might not be the smartest idea to jump into the situation without backup, every second counts. My duty is to protect others, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do. After backup is called, I’m immediately stepping into the situation, seeing what I can do to help my fellow officer while keeping both of us safe. I would once again use my taser to immobilize the assailants as I drag my co-worker out of immediate danger. Hoping that buys enough time for the others to arrive.”

What do you do if you find out that your co-worker is corrupt and is helping criminal organizations?
“An officer being corrupt? I’ll never understand making an oath just to break it.. Besides the point. My main goal would be to gather evidence, whether it’s on my phone, body cam, etc. As long as I do it without putting anyone in harm's way, that’s what matters. Once I have a decent amount gathered, I’d report it.” The girl paused. “I wish I had more to say, but after that, it’s out of my hands. I can only testify if need be.”

How would you react to a criminal trying to bribe you?
Alani didn’t jump into this question. She took a moment, a frown threatening to tug at her lips. After a moment, she spoke up.
“I wouldn’t take it. Although I have to admit, it’s a bit sad seeing someone in that position.”
She paused again, thinking about her next words. “It’s clear that if someone is offering a bribe, they clearly have something to lose. However, my empathy can only extend so far. I’d warn them that bribery is a fineable offense, sometimes even an extra charge.” The words lingered in the air for a moment before she continued on. “I believe that bribery would be considered something done out of pure desperation at someone’s lowest, that’s the only reason I wouldn’t slam down a strong iron fist. Of course, I would still report it. If the higher-ups believe that it is necessary, then it is.”
