Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
Teachers are the backbone of SRP at it's core. School Roleplay centers around the high school and college. Teacher's are the faculty that gets to help students reach their full potential. They spend hours thinking up not only lessons but homework as well. They are in charge of teaching but also making sure their classes stay in line, as well as doing the right thing. Without them school days would be incredibly boring. They do incredible amounts of work behind the scenes to create the memorable classes everyone loves the server for.
Teachers are also important as characters. They are positive figures that the students can look up to. They are often there to help, and want the best for you. They have to be responsible with their actions to create an example. They will however make sure you follow the rules of the minecraft server. If someone is misbehaving it is their job to give out a detention or a kick from the class. Students can rely on them to feel comfortable and safe.
They are also players that for the most part have been around for a bit of time. If someone is new to the server they are a wonderful person that can help show a greenie around or explain a bit more of what the server is. If you see a teacher you can assume they are around to help you if need be.
Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?:
Yes, I acknowledge if I am inactive I will lose my role. I plan to be on every day if I am able and to host at least one class per day if it has a school day.
Do you agree to undergo teacher training if your application is successful?:
Yes, I agree to undergo training. I understand how important it is & will do my best to attend unless there is an emergency.

"It's Kurosawa, Hanami. Hana, if we're on a first name basis."
What is your character's nationality?:
"I am both Japanese & Filipino. I find both my heritages are very important to me."
What is your preferred subject to teach?:"
"I have always had a love for science, though specifically chemistry. I've spent the past 5 years in Cebu teaching chemistry to junior high as well as high school. I do believe I'll be able to bring something different to your Karakura schools."
Describe your character:
Hanami Kurosawa, born April 24th, 1990, is a strict yet encouraging Filipino-Japanese woman. She stands at an impressive for her family 5'7. Her natural black hair often sat in pigtails behind her back, along with a streak of white. Her piercing crystal eyes were hard to miss especially with how she commanded a room. Most of her outfits could be described as business chic, often matching the blue of her eyes. Her skin would be on the paler side, partially attributed to her preference of the indoors.
Her personality can be seen as direct yet soothing. She tends to struggle at times with expressing emotions in her words, she cares deeply for those around her. She sees all her students like her children in the sense she wishes for them to succeed. Hanami is a bit introverted at first, before opening up more. With those she's close to as well as her coworkers she is a warm-hearted team player.
At the young age of 4, Hanami was diagnosed with Autism. She would also be told she is above average intelligence later on. Due to this she developed a special interest of science. Instead of toys during holidays she would request chemistry sets or workbooks. She moved to several different countries to attend international schools, specifically the Philippines. After graduating from high school at 17 she attended The University of the Philippines Diliman while dual majoring in Chemistry and Education with a minor in Filipino for 4 years. She graduated at 22 in 2012. After a year of applying to masters programs she was accepted to Tohoku University. She completed a Masters in Chemistry at 25 and is currently hoping to get another Masters in education.
Hanami has been teaching in her distant family's hometown in Cebu, Philippines for almost 5 years now. She specializes in Chemistry although she is adept at other facets of science as well. Her lessons are known for being quite interactive. Hanami enjoys helping students feel hands on with their science. She is also a very focused teacher. Her lessons are thought out to complete detail before ever entering the classroom.
She recently was called to Karakura by her family, so she has spent the past year obtaining a teachers license for Japan. She at first struggled recalling her old native language but passed her certification with flying colors. She is now applying to bring her advanced knowledge of Chemistry as well as experience with high school teaching towards Karakura.
What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
Hanami sees all her students like her children. She is tough on them however it is because she wants them to do their best. She comes off as stern but is always open to talk or listen if need be. Hanami believes that all students deserve a chance to learn. If she notices a student is struggling her first instinct is always to ask them if they need anything. She often speaks in a bit of a direct yet soft tone towards them.
Her room is often open after her class or during lunch. She is happy to talk with students to discuss homework and different aspects of science. Hanami also tries to help tutor students who may not be able to otherwise. She also tries to make her lessons as interactive as possible. She feels the best way to learn chemistry is when you get to see it in action.
Similar to her coworkers, she may be shy at first. She is direct with her speech and ideas but comes off as distant. Once she is able to open up to them however she is completely different. Hanami is very sweet and talkative, enjoying collaborating on different classes. She is often a team player as much as she can be. Though there are some lessons she prefers to do alone. She is always open to helping a fellow teacher or faculty if needed.
What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
Hanami moved quite frequently as a child, which meant she struggled to make friends. However at every school she went to she was fascinated by the science classes. She fell in love with chemistry specifically, always begging for more textbooks or sets. It was the one thing she could always count on no matter which country she moved to. Although she began to notice how little science teachers there seemed to be, at least for chemistry.
While going to school in the Philippines she began to realize she wanted to fill that gap in education. Many of her friends were struggling in their lessons before she began to tutor them. She created mini-lessons and workbooks for her peers which helped them pass their classes. The more Hanami realized she could pass her knowledge on the more determined she became to become an educator. She devoted all of her time into her school work. Hanami also began substituting junior high while she worked on her master's. This helped her get a more hands on experience before she actually began teaching.
She has now been teaching for 5 years in the Philippines and completed a bachelors as well as a master's in order to become a teacher.

Roleplay Scenarios
A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
Hanami would quietly walk over to the student and ask them if they need any help. She understands sometimes it's embarrassing to say you're struggling. If they say yes, she'll ask what part they don't understand. Hanami would then either go over the lesson again, or a method specific to that student such as flash cards and extra notes. Hanami would make sure the student completely feels confident before moving on. She would then ask if anyone else had a similar question so they wouldn't feel as nervous.
If it was someone who raised their hand she would call on them and ask what their question was. Hanami would do her best to ask if anyone else also thought this so the student didn't feel less alone before explaining. She would also ask after if they understood it that time. If not, then she would use a different method with her board or by example. If she did a physical example she would ask the class to name the process as she does it for participation. As always she would make sure everything was understood before class was over. If it was not, she would stay after class for anyone who needed it.
Examples of this scenario roleplayed out:
She glanced around her classroom after she had finished her current topic, noticing a few confused expressions. She quietly slipped towards the student that she had seen seemingly struggling the most. She spoke in a quiet whisper as to make sure no one would overhear, "I noticed you seemed a bit lost.. It's quite alright, this subject is trickier than most. Is there a specific section you'd like me to go over?"
Her expression lit up as the student answered, nodding in agreement. "Yes.. that part can be difficult. Here, let's look at it in a more simple form. Instead of memorizing the entire periodic table start with a few at a time." She reached into her pocket as she produced a set of flash cards. Each had the name of an element along with it's purpose & details of facts. They were handed to the student with a nod. "Keep them, I have plenty of copies. If you need help in the future feel free to speak with me, yes?"
She returned to her desk for a moment. She clicked her fingers together to get her classes attention, motioning with one finger to settle down. "Before we move on to our final topic of this class, I'd like to hold space for any questions. If you are stuck or would like clarification please feel free to raise your hands now." Her gaze swept across the room. After a minute or so she noticed one hand appear. A smile formed as they were called on. "What can I help explain?"
A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
Hanami would remind the student of the classroom rules and to focus on the class they chose to attend. If they continue she would give them a verbal warning, citing disruption in the classroom. She would explain how important it is and they're taking that opportunity away from their classmates. As well as they chose to be in the class. Hanami would apologize to the students before continuing the lesson the best she could. She would advise everyone to ignore them if possible as they rely on attention.
If the student continued she would give them a second verbal warning and threaten detention. Detention would be the last case scenario however she would not hesitate to do so with disrespectful students. Unless the person is overly cursing or making threats in which she would kick them out of her class immediately. She would make sure the students who weren't being disruptive know how much she appreciates them.
Examples of this scenario roleplayed out:
She cleared her throat a bit as she pointed towards the board behind her, "Let's try and focus on the current lesson. We went over the rules at the start of class, I'd appreciate if we could all pay attention at least for a little longer." Her tone was stern as she turned back to what she had been teaching beforehand. "Listen carefully. I'm going to repeat the formula once more as it's going to be important for your homework."
A slightly exasperated sigh escaped her as she pushed her glasses up. She walked closer to where the student had been interrupting her, making sure they were listening to her this time. "I already asked you once to please follow the classroom rules. There are other students than you trying to learn. Let's get back on task or else detentions will be given out." She glanced to any others causing issues so they also knew the consequences of further actions.
Her hand pulled out a slip, writing the students name on it before presenting it to them. "You were reminded of the rules, and given a warning already. Perhaps detention will allow you to reflect on your actions in the class today." She checked any others for issues, not wanting to give out more however she didn't wish for more disruptions. "Anyone else who misbehaves past the warning will join them. Let us respect everyone's time today."
"To everyone else.. thank you for listening today. It means a lot when I am able to give you an enjoyable class and get through our subject material." She smiled to the remaining students before the bell would ring. "If you have any questions on the homework, I will be here for a few minutes between periods. I apologize again for the interruptions!"
Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
Eruption Elimination:
Students are given the option to either be solo or duos for this project. They are all given a notebook with instructions on how to create their own baking soda volcano. Students must write their name as well as their partners name, then detail their plans. Once they have finished they will take them outside to the roof. We will test them to see who had the best design and effectiveness. They would roll 25 for both of these stats. Whoever received the highest combined would get a sticker if possible.
They would also be given a homework about the reactions that they saw in class. I would ask questions related to the project in their homework while explaining why their specific volcano may or may not have failed. They will also be given the opportunity on homework to add updates to their project or an alternate design.
Periodic Bee:
Students participate in a spelling bee like style class, where their words are all elements on the periodic table. I will give out their element symbol and the student will tell me the full name. It will narrow down to the final two. I will also go over what each element on the periodic table and ask them if they know what the names mean. This is to get them excited about chemistry as well as help them memorize the table for future homework.
Those who have gotten out or don't wish to participate will be given an alternate activity. This will be a journal that consists of a periodic table bingo. Depending on if a student gets the word right, they will be able to mark it off on their bingo sheet. Those who get a bingo will also be able to win in the game. This is to give students who may have anxiety or issues in front of others to still be part of the projects.
Have you read and understand the Teacher Application Guidance thread?
Yes, I have read over the guidance thread multiple times. I feel I understand it completely and appreciate the time taken to format the thread. Thank you for reading & considering my application.
