bunpiona (account applying with!)

Do you have Discord (If so, what is your discord username?):
be.ellerinaz

How old are you? (Optional):

What is your time zone?:
PST

Describe your activity on the server:
My activity depends due to my work schedule in real life. I’ve been working on a balance of being able to attend my SRP commitments while also being able to meet my IRL commitments. I’d describe it as a solid 7.5/10 in rating. Weekends tend to be my most open days while weekdays can be pretty sparse depending on my activities. I’m always hanging out with my friends while also finding excuses to walk up to new people and make new friends! I attend as many in game events as I can, attending sports games that apply to my sport, as well as supporting others (like tryouts), dances, exams, general world wide events, etc.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you will be demoted?
I understand this!

What shop are you applying for?

Tokki-yo

Do you have a Discord server for the Shop ready?
Yes! It’s ready and made, prepared for people to join! A few maintenance things may occur when more people join, however nothing too big. The foundation of everything is ready!

Why do you want to become a Shopkeeper?
I’ve been looking at the different stores around and think they were such fun opportunities to be apart of. I’m personally apart of two (possibly three) shops already (Umisachi, Kirei Hana) and love the shop environments. The differences in their vibes, keeping to their uniqueness while still offering such a variety of items is very interesting and fun to me! I have motive to keep active on SRP and branching to new experiences. I’ve experienced the regular community basis (with no extension of a role), sports teams (currently still on one), professor faction (previously). I’d like to expand my horizon of roleplay and see what shopkeeper has to offer as faction roleplay tend to offer new experiences that can’t be obtained to players not in factions.

With new experiences comes new responsibility and challenges. I believe I am ready to take on these new challenges and deepen my understanding of roleplay as well as the mechanics of the game. Learning how to play a new variation of character, one who has to take charge and be the big guy. I've always been curious about faction play that wasn't Professor or Sports related, something outside of the school. I've developed many ideas that I want to execute, but to have that space, I need to try and make my way up there. The shopkeeper would be a good opportunity to delve into city factions, playing with what the rest of Karakura has to offer. New faces will be met, meaning new styles of roleplay I haven't come across before. I hope to create a safe and welcoming space as a shopkeeper and make sure everyone feels represented in their interests and what makes them!

What do you plan to do with your shop, and what makes it unique?
I plan to make it a nice cutesy shop! From the name I’ve chosen, it means “Toy Bear.” I want to give it the vibes of Sanrio or Line Friends! I want it to be a toy shop as well as have sections possibly tech (a little bit of everything, but mainly toys and backpack accessories). To connect with tech, I’d like to possibly add different video game reference toys like valorant guns or LOL figurines! A future ambition of mine. I want it to be bright and colourful and friendly, attracting different sorts of audiences. Hopefully if I am able, I will be able to get a few customs to line up with the sorts of toys I want there (like more Sanrio characters not already in the game and Line friend toys/backpacks or other accessories). Sticking light-hearted and fun for all to enjoy!

In terms of the space being created, I want it to feel like a big play area, somewhere where characters can unlock their childhood wonder and imagination and play! I want to try and incorporate interactive areas alongside the shelves that hold the items being sold. A few ideas come to mind:

1. A ball pit/jungle gym corner: "I want people to feel like they can have fun and play! Playing actively and getting their bodies moving. I want a corner to feel like one of those play areas you used to go to as a kid, the ones that were all colourful and you'd make up parkour stories or play the floor is lava with your friends." Ji-hye would explain, her eyes filled with wonder as she moved to her next point.
2. A colouring/painting table: "I know some people may not be into moving around too much and wanting to play only to get tired. This is why a calming activity I want to propose is a colouring or painting table. When you shop with your friends or family, sometimes they can get lost in all the items, they don't know what to purchase! Waiting and following them around while they shop isn't the most entertaining idea, so having something to do with your hands while also being able to create with your mind is something that I find is important." Ji-hye's expression seemed sincere, almost like she was speaking from experience. Perhaps others felt similarly...
3. Mascots and interactive characters:
And finally, Ji-hye would reach her final point, explaining her thought process to the interviewer, "You know how some bookstores will do story time with kids? Or at theme parks, they will have mascots of your favourite characters roaming around for you to say hello? I want to bring that to my store- but to a smaller degree of course. I want some opportunities for employees- if they wish -to advertise and interact with customers as their favourite characters. Or if they have a favourite storybook from childhood, I want them to share it with others that may have similar memories. To bring the homey feel to the store, making it feel like something familiar was there."

What will you sell in your shop?
As already mentioned, I’d like to sell toys, backpacks/bags, probably a bit of tech and jewelry. I maybe want to do mascot events with staff members to interact with customers as different characters custom to the store!

ITEMS LIST:
- Plushies (Toy Turtle, Toy Bear, Kiwi Bird, etc.)
- Toy Weapons (Toy Sword "Yamato," Lightsabers, Water Guns, etc.)
- Bags (Kumori Backpack, etc.)
- Tech (Smart Phone "My Melody," Nintendo, etc.)
- Miscellaneous Items (Skateboards, etc.)

TBD as I have not purchased any customs...
- LineFriends & Sanrio toys and accessories (jewelry, bags, tech)
- Video Game merch (Valorant, Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley)

- Disney merch (hats, bags, toys) if allowed!

How many employees do you plan to have?
The hope is to get around 24-28 people working! I am in the process of recruiting as well as opening up applications once this application is live and/or accepted.

The breakdown goes as followed:
1 Shopkeeper

3 Managers
20-24 Employees: 14-16 Cashiers, 6-8 Security

Shopkeeper:

The owner of the shop, will keep everything running smoothly! Is in charge of assigning shifts + running the shop and any issues that may arise. They are in charge of making any announcements/advertisements with the shop. Any requests/suggestions for adjustment within the shop or needs to report an incident of employee disdemeanor gets reported to either the Managers or to the Shopkeeper directly (if it’s issues with a manager, it goes straight to the shopkeeper).

Manager:
In charge of managing the place when the Shopkeeper is unable to/needs assistance. They are the second in power, reporting anything directly to the Shopkeeper. They must hold a good reputation to set a good example to the rest of the employees. All orders will come straight per the Shopkeeper’s request. If orders are commanded without the Shopkeeper’s request; punishment will be placed.

Employees:

The general workers of the establishment. They can do jobs such as being a cashier, security guard, mascot, etc. They are able to help customers find what they need. They will man the cashiers, getting items for customers and checking them out. They can be security guards, keeping the store safe from any harm caused. They can be mascots, if in need of an extra shift and need to advertise the store, they can stand outside in designated outfits to advertise. They are the majority of the face of the establishment, as they meet with the customers face-to-face most the time! They are a crucial part to making this store run.

History:
Ji-yae Whang, a Korean woman & Luca Davignon, a Swiss man had been in love with all the creative projects they could get their hands on. Luca, a photographer, and Ji-yae, a crafter, both had a passion for creating. Luca was known for his creative eye, making a variety of creative outlets. Ji-yae was good with her hands, making crafts always. She would make bracelets, necklaces, toys, etc. In 2000, they had their child, Ji-hye Whang (also known as Amelia “Millie” Davignon). She grew up watching puppetry shows, stick puppets her mother had made and her father had performed. While growing up, Ji-hye grew attached to drawing and artsy things. She was shown different shows, consisting of characters like the Sanrio bunch, Pororo, etc.

In 2000, Ji-hye asked her mother for a custom plushie of My Melody, knowing her mother could try making it. Ji-yae committed to creating this plushie for her daughter, finding out she had a knack for the craft. Later that year, Ji-yae and Luca took the idea and began a small company for close family and friends to make these custom plushes. The branch of characters began to grow as well as custom Whang-Davignon characters inspired by their daughter’s drawings.

The company has grown into a local business, having three locations. A Switzerland location, run by Charlotte Davignon (Luca’s niece), a South Korea location, run by Mina Jeong (Ji-yae’s niece), and a new Japan location, in Karakura, now run by Ji-hye Whang.

Ji-hye has been working closely with Charlotte and Mina as they work to incorporate all sorts of fandoms into their toy shops. Having something for everyone to relate to. They’ve gone as far as reaching into the realm of video games, finding the latest hits and trying to see how they can replicate them. Or perhaps it was the latest comic series, a new edition for customers to rent out should they please!

Advert & Greeting examples:
ADVERTS: “Chk, chk, boom! New toy drops are in store! Looking for a new friend to keep you company? Look no further than our newest friend, Keroppi! He will be joining the rest of our friends to keep you company, so stop on by to Ochomo No Kuma!”

ADVERT: “Ever wanted to feel like you were in a video game too? Look no further, it seems like we got a skin drop! The new Valorant Toy Vandal AND Valorant Toy Operator has just dropped in your night market. Stop by this limited deal and get your skin upgrade today! OCHOMO NO KUMA, [coords for store here]”

GREETING: The employee would greet the customer with a cheery smile and a wave, “Welcome friend! What can I help you find today, here at Omocho No Kuma?”

GREETING: The employee seemed distracted for a moment; were they.. polishing the latest additions to the store? Silly them! With a quick peak up, they’d tuck their item away as they greeted with a warm tone, “Hello friend, how can I help you today?”
Uniforms:
The uniforms are still TBD, but they are in the works of being made! They will be up on the Discord server once I get them and get consent from the Tailor to use them!

Scenarios:
You’re setting up for a brand new set of shifts when all of a sudden… Oh no! Shop Panel has crashed and won’t start. What will you do?

I’ve built in a system included the Discord server of specific assistance that employees may need. In the unlikely (but possible) event that Shop Panel crashes, employees may reference an up-to-date Google Spreadsheet that I have created with a stock of all of the items in store and their prices. Items have been separated by section (Tech, Bags, Toys, etc.) to make it easy on the eyes. A key will be provided on the math for after the shift is over. What percentage each person is allowed to keep and what their owes are, and anything else relevant. I can assist employees on calculating the math for them so long as they jot down what their starting balance was and what their end balance is.

Something in the stock doesn’t seem right… turns out an employee has been stealing from the company! What would you do?
As previously mentioned, I will be keeping an active track of stock on a Google Sheets document in order to keep an accurate track of the items in store. Before announcing a shift, I will be sure to check the stock prior, and if I notice something is out of the ordinary, I will bring it up to my staff and question. If no one is able to admit their faults, I will look back to who previously had worked the shifts and try to ask once more. If then they decide to come out with the truth of their actions and explain themselves, their punishment may vary. If it was intentional, it’s an warning and probation as a first/second offence. With a third intentional offence, a removal from the store and hirability will be set in place. If it was unintentional and accidental, a simple warning will be put in and an ask for the item(s) to be returned to their home. They will not be able to work the coming shift and have to wait for the next one.

UH OH- IT LOOKS LIKE THE STORE IS UNDER ATTACK!! Masked individuals are seen attempting to rob the place as well as hurt customers/employees. What would you do?

In character, I would try to de-escalate the situation and help my security get rid of the intruders. Out of character, I would contact staff via the quickest means I can think of and tell them of the situation. Whether it’s I should void the situation and have the individuals be escorted out, or have to call KPD ICLY, or another solution. I’m not certain on the status of what zone shops fall under, but I would assume they act as “Safe Zones” as they are also “Public Zones”? Though my knowledge on this could be incorrect.

I'd like to say a small thank you for the opportunity to apply! The writing process and thinking process have been very fun and I enjoyed the learning of it all very much! I have a lot of ideas for this store should this application go through, otherwise I'm glad I got to write it.

With that, Ji-hye would rise from her seat, giving the interviewer a polite handshake and a small bow. "Thank you greatly for the opportunity to interview with you for my family's shop. I can assure you, should we get accepted, we will provide quality customer service and make the space as welcoming as I've said it would be." Taking a step to the side, Whang would bow once more, taking her leave from the interviewer's office. Her mind was filled with hope that the many ideas she had in mind would become a reality.
