Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you will be demoted?:
Yes, I am aware of this.
School Employee Role you are applying for?:
Librarian.
In as much detail as possible, describe the employee role you are applying for:
Librarians typically handle things such as organizing books, keeping them catalogued, assisting students to find and check out the resources they need (handing out library cards, for example), and so on. While the job is typically undermined, they’re in charge of nearly the entirety of the library and employed to keep it taken care of - such as making sure the books are returned to their spots in a timely manner, keeping the library safe and above all a safe space for students to spend their time in.
What experience, in general, do you have in roleplay?:
I’ve been casually roleplaying for some time, in and out of it. I only got back into the activity around six years ago amongst some friends and then joined SRP a little bit over a year ago.
It’s easy to say, however, that SRP made me a whole lot more active with roleplaying. With being on council at one point and currently being on track (amongst clubs like fashion club) - I find myself doing a lot of detailrp alongside casual roleplaying with friends and other players with minor interactions.
Why do you want to join the School Employee faction?:
I was on council for some time, running around and interacting with students as that sort of ‘middle ground,’ but having a small taste of what it could’ve been for the school faction overall - I was intrigued. Librarian specifically was a point of interest with how it interacts with the school environment.
I want to have the chance to explore a new environment in a way since going fully into school faction is very, very different with responsibilities and how faculty interact with students. Having such an opportunity - such as interacting with characters in a diverse setting would be very fun.

Situations
/*Do not mention use of FearRP*/
During a work-shift a student starts cursing at you for being pathetic, how does your character react?:
The simplest way to put it: Haiyan wouldn’t care. Words like that are water off a duck’s back - meaningless to say as what is and isn’t pathetic is all subjective. She wouldn’t monologue this to the student either, as with how they speak they more than likely won’t listen, or even double down. So, all Haiyan would say is - “That all? Or do you actually want help with something?”
Dismissing actions like that typically leads people to withdraw from shock, even sometimes questioning their own actions afterwards since they didn’t get the desired reaction. If the student were to continue, Haiyan would then attempt to question the student on why they’re approaching them like that, if they understand the basis of respect, and perhaps even give a gentle warning that such harsh words to the wrong people can have you end up in not so friendly situations.
You notice two students are physically fighting in the hallway, – multiple punches have been thrown – how does your character react?:
Haiyan is - like a normal person - unamused by such acts, especially during school hours. If they have a problem with each other, just keep it as their own instead of making a fuss about it. She’d used the radio to contact the other facility in case, even if she’d do it without much energy behind it.
Loud noises or anything generally startling typically snaps people out of situations long enough to intervene - so Haiyan would more than likely cause a bit of a commotion of her own without yelling, be it dropping a book from high up or clapping her hands. What would follow is her telling them to split up immediately and thus the first warning - if not listened to, she’d begrudgingly get in between them, acting as a casual barrier.
If both students are calmed down, or not even, she’d drag them to the nurse’s office to get them checked over and to ensure they don’t continue fighting. Both sides of the story always matter as well and would hear them out - continuing with how she’d punish them from there, be it detention or a simple warning.
Another school employee is clearly acting inappropriately, doing something very dangerous on the job, how does your character react?:
Once can simply be a mistake - something Haiyan would put in the back of her mind in case a pattern erupts. Besides that, though, it’s really none of her business.
If the pattern does begin to show, however, that’s when Haiyan would make herself known. Pulling her co-worker to the side and simply listing out the things she has witnessed, telling them that it’s a matter of concern for themself as a faculty member and for the students around them. They’re there to help the students, not to somehow harm them.
With a final reminder of how they may be perceived if they continue this act - how it could ruin their family’s name, cause their spirit to be unrest - Haiyan would let them carry on whatever they feel the need to do. She gave the warning. It's up to them to decide their fate.
When in the employee break room, how does your character act?:
Haiyan isn’t the most social of butterflies, electing to be one that observes her peers while resting in the break room - or just taking a nap if no one in there is a gossip. That isn’t to say she’s completely withdrawn - if making herself something to drink and someone else is there working or enters, her first instinct is to offer to make them something. In more social moods, she may even offer to help a co-worker with whatever they’re struggling on.
While not friends, they all are in the same boat of what this life is, might as well not waste it.
Provide us with at least three detailed /me's of your character whilst on your chosen role:
/me sighed as she spun around in her chair - legs lifted from the ground as it slowly moved in a circle, head leaned back against the cushioned seat. And there it was - a question, an approach. The woman cleared her throat, feet hitting against the floor with a soft clack, shuffling herself back over in front of the student. Their eyes would lock onto the other’s as they spoke - “A book, huh?” Without looking, her hand would tread over to the keyboard beside her, typing in something with a singular finger, “Full name and the book you’re checking out.” A command over a question, really - looking over at the screen in front of her, resting her head in the palm of their hand. There’d be a pause to let the other speak - still typing with her index finger only as she continued. The card and book were slid over to her, her long, black nails clacking against the both as she flipped them to the other side- scanning them both. A yawn - “Return it in a month, kid.” They’d place the items in return.
/me stared rather blankly, perhaps a slight grimace appearing on the gargoyle’s features as she let out a - “Huh?” Dumbfounded as ever, “You’re asking me for help?” A long exhale as she pursed her lips into a pout, raising a hand to scratch the back of her head, “It’s my job now, isn’t it?” A muttering to herself as she looked off to the side, eyes scanning across the library, “Non-fiction… Let me just lead you there, easier than giving directions.” In a snail’s pace, the woman would slouch over, hands stuffed into her pockets as they began to walk silently - leading the way.
/me dragged her nail across the books - staring at them rather intently as each dip between was another number logged in the back of her mind. Nothing out of the ordinary, yet at the very least. No books seemed overdue - the ones that were supposed to be missing were, indeed, gone. They’d pause - a book was ever so slightly out of line, the other beside it not being in the right section at all. What a pain. They’d press one of the books further into the shelf - taking out the imposter to place it in its rightful area. Leaning her head back to sigh dramatically to no one but themself, forcing their feet to get a move on.

In-Character Section
Full Name (First & Last only):
The woman leaned against the chair behind her in a laze, their foot resting on the edge as the other laid ‘properly’ on top, “Haiyan Lin,” They’d look up towards the ceiling, looking nowhere specific.
Title (Mr, Mrs, Miss):
“Does that matter?” A pause - stark white hair over their shoulder, following the motion as she rolled her neck, “Fine. Miss works, if I need to choose.” Boney fingers traced along the back of her neck, tangling with the strands.
Preferred Name:
”Haiyan.” A disinterested answer as the woman looked off to the side - her arm perched over her knee like some sort of delinquent. She’d blink, “Ah, wait. You mean the students?” They’d press their bottom lip up towards the top, a strange pout forming on her stone solid face, “Ms. Lin.” - “That’s the answer you want from me, right?”
Age (Minimum is 25):
Mouthing to herself - whispering as they were connecting the dots, “Thirty-two, October 31st.” Plainly said, a yawn following soon after - drawn out for seconds too long, “Closer to death, aren’t I? What a treat,” Sarcasm laced their voice as they kept their teeth clenched together.
Gender:
“All these questions,” Another yawn escaped them as she covered her mouth with her hand, tilting back into the chair - only on the back two legs remaining on the ground as she rocked the chair, “Biologically? Female. But things like that don’t matter, you realize.”
Academic Degree:
Readjusted herself - placing both feet flatly on the ground, the chair clacking against the floor harshly as she did - the woman finally sat up correctly, “I have a Master’s in Library and Information Science,” A steady voice she held as she leaned forward, resting their elbows on their knees, “Did my four years time.” Dry, cold words that reeked of boredom.
Major(s):
A sigh escaped them - “English and Psychology,” Back to lounging in the chair, teetering on the edge of nearly falling backwards entirely, “The expected things, right?” Rocking back and forth. Back and forth.
Minors:
“Morturary science.” . . . And that seemed to be it.
Nationality:
They’d stare, “Chinese.” - “That's all?”
Known Languages:
She’d begin counting on her fingers - “Mandarin,” Two fingers, “Korean,” Three fingers, “And Japanese,” She’d give a half-hearted smile as she extended her hands forward briefly, “Clearly.” And bringing their arms back to the chest, crossing them over.
Backstory
Knocking on Death’s Door
⛧°.⋆༺♱༻⋆.°⛧
Haiyan was born sickly - doomed with organ failure. Her heart, lungs and kidneys betrayed her, not allowing the body that was forced to decay to truly exist the way it should’ve. She wasn’t allowed to go to school, taken to work by her parents - to the morgue. She witnessed things perhaps she shouldn’t have at such an age, seeing the entire process of how they care for the deceased. It was far more interesting than the books and papers placed in front of her day after day.
They’d witness their parents clean the entire room every hour - she swore, she timed it eventually and was correct. Shocking, she thought. They’d eventually make Haiyan wear a mask - still sitting her at the desk to handle her schoolwork given to her. No matter how hard her parents tried - medication, not allowing even a speck of dust to land on the window sill - Haiyan’s health declined.
As she reached the age of nine, Haiyan was hospitalized in a critical condition, having perhaps two years left if she didn’t have new organs.
As she reached age ten, there was a horrible train accident. Several casualties. Several new organ donors.
At age ten, she borrowed more time from those who lost all of theirs.
At age ten, Haiyan Lin learned mortality really was.
After allowing herself to heal fully, the scars scattered across her abdomen, Haiyan begins to attend school. A ghostly figure that trudged the halls, ignored by many as she shot up in the grade level she was in. The brilliance she was, she never cared for it, their nose always stuck in a book. Skipping out on lunch to be in the library, continuing the studies. Perhaps checking out one too many books on human biology.
The only ones at school who encouraged this were the teachers, of course, but what stuck out to her more was the librarians. They were always there - assisting with her finding the books she needed, even giving her a pass to check out one or two extra books, free of charge.
A directionless life led her this far - and she graduated. Staring forward at what she could’ve become. Haiyan could’ve taken over the family business - taking care of bodies all the same as her parents did. But that’s such a drag at this point, nothing new that could be learned. She knows those organs. They’re the same as her own.
And then - it hit her. Librarian would be something, right? Something new everyday with books she would’ve never considered picking up, people they never would’ve considered interacting with otherwise.
Then the time would be used wisely. What else do people do to feel alive? Travel? Move across the globe? She knew it fulfilled people somehow. And would you look at that, a college in Japan is accepting transfers - even offering the field she wanted to explore.
Time carried on with little to no noise, not even her health acting up. All she needed to do was graduate and find a job - that was the only goal. Living day by day.
She’d get her Master’s in Library and Information Science, the graduation photo having her stone-cold expression on the frontline, still hung up on her parents fridge to this day.
Haiyan would hold a steady job - not as a librarian as she hoped, but as a receptionist. Which was better than nothing.
But it wasn’t what she wanted. It wasn’t how she perceived life to be, as a receptionist. She wanted to be more, to use that degree they worked so desperately for. That was the meaning of life, right?
Uprooting her life was a stupid idea, frankly. She was stable where she was - and that was surely enough, maybe. Yet she found herself in Karakura, with a single hope that this is the chance she was striving towards.
Nothing but borrowed time anyway.

Motivation for Joining KHS (Character perspective):
. . . Odd. The silence lasted for much longer than it had previously - everything flat on the ground instead of nearing something awful, perhaps worse than the casual nurse’s visit as Haiyan stared downward. “Students,” was all that was muttered at first, falling in the cold, dense air, “They’re young, have that sort of life in them that you don’t see too often. That curiosity.” A low sigh as she leaned back, fingers laced together as they closed their eyes, neck uneasily craned backwards - a snap bound to happen, “Not every kid has that, but the ones that do are the ones who will always appear.”
Not a single sound. Not even the sound of her breathing as her body stilled.
“Yeah. That’s the reason.” The words blended in with the silence, a raspy whisper escaping the woman’s lips - a reminiscence that sickened her to her very core.
A slow - sluggish movement as they slumped over, a lazy smile on their face, “But that’s everyone’s reason, isn’t it? The cliche of for the kids. Not all that special,” They’d yawn once more.
Why should you be accepted over the other applicants?:
It’s a tricky question since I don’t have any education in the field at hand, and enjoying reading isn’t really a unique trait to have. However, the pursuit of knowledge is something I hold close to myself and I’m always willing to learn more, be it from the book or from experience itself. Being able to encourage characters - or perhaps even people - to try and learn more with the books that are in the library in SRP (and perhaps influencing the players to go out and find new passions through it) is something I’d like to be a part of, given the chance.
