INFORMATION
This thread has been made with the intention to introduce and/or guide players into an understanding of ‘PainRP’. PainRP is a crucial factor in multiple roleplay scenarios, mainly regarding GangRP.

It must be noted that this is nothing more than a guide for reference. Nonetheless, it is recommended you read all of the information closely to avoid punishment for failure to painrp properly.


PAINRP CLASSIFICATION
In order to explain how a character should react to a specific action, ‘PainRP’ will be divided into four separate categories.

1.- MINOR DAMAGE
Minor damage refers to any sort of injury caused by fists and blunt weapons, such as bats, ballistic face masks, etc.

1.1.- Blunt damage is often dealt in order to knock someone out. Once the required K.O. points (4) are met, the character will be knocked out for a total of 5 OOC minutes. After this, said character must roleplay out having head pain, considering how a K.O. is achieved when the brain and skull collide. This results in a head-ache and frequent dizziness, which must be roleplayed out (including how your character would react to the pain).


1.2.- If a blunt weapon is used, worse damage will be inflicted upon the character as the weapons are designed to do so. Therefore, the symptoms mentioned above (headaches, dizziness, etc.) are now aggravated as it can result in a concussion, haemorrhage, seizures and more, meaning that your character should roleplay out the consequences of such for a prolonged time after they wake up, this should not completely prevent them from properly actioning.


2.- MEDIUM DAMAGE
Medium damage refers to injuries mainly caused by major blunt weapons (batons, spiked bats, knuckle dusters, etc.), resulting in broken bones, dislocation, . etc.

2.1.- If a major blunt weapon is used to inflict damage onto you, the most likely outcome will be that your limbs will be severely damaged to the point where moving it will be extremely painful, which will usually restrict one’s movement. For example, if someone is hit on their knee with a baton, they will be unable to properly run off due to the pain that such a weapon would inflict. Moreover, if you are hit on your eye with a knuckle duster, for example, you are expected to roleplay out having a swollen area around it, as well as the pain that recovering from it would come with.

2.2.- In the case of spiked bats, it is considered the most blunt damage you can do with a blunt weapon, reaching the point where it can be deadly if used with enough malicious intent. Due to how powerful this weapon is, it is capable of easily crushing bones to the point where it would incapacitate someone if they wanted to run off. This occurs thanks to the spikes that act as a way to perforate the skin to cause as much damage as possible. In addition, a hit to the head with this weapon would lead to a K.O., as well as a severe headache as well as possible stitches from the spikes, meaning that the aftermath of being knocked out with such a weapon would be far more significant than that of a normal bat.

3.- MAJOR DAMAGE
Major damage refers to injuries caused by sharp weapons (katanas, pocket knives, tactical knives, etc.) can result in lethal injuries.

3.1.- When a sharp weapon is utilised to you in a non-lethal way (in the case of carvings, stabbing in non-lethal areas, etc.), you are expected to roleplay out being in excruciating pain, considering that a stab can easily be more painful than a hit from a blunt weapon. Even if one of your limbs hasn’t been completely chopped off, you are still expected not to be able to properly use that part of your body, considering how hard and painful it’d be to even move it.

3.2.- In the case of deadly force being used against your character with a sharp weapon (when being stabbed in a vital organ), you are expected to aggravate the symptoms found in the point above. In addition, once you’ve been stabbed in any of these parts of your body, you are NOT allowed to retaliate with deadly force, considering your character wouldn’t have enough strength nor the will to even continue with the fight. In this case, you are expected to only retaliate by resisting and trying to escape the situation to get medical assistance. In addition, when it comes to running and evading the threat, you may not full-on run off at full speed if you have been stabbed in a vital organ. It is true that adrenaline may help you get to safety, but if you are stabbed in the throat or on the heart, you wouldn’t have enough energy to continue running for much longer.

4.- EXTRA DAMAGES
Extra damages refer to injuries that are not caused by the weapons mentioned above, this can refer to guns, tasers, etc.

4.1.- Upon being tased (usually only by police officers), you will feel a sharp shooting pain within your body as soon as the prongs connect with your body due to the electricity. You will be paralyzed, practically unable to move (which is already prevented by the tasing plugin). Whilst the taser effects wear off, it is common to feel dazed and unsteady when you attempt to move around, specifically standing up. A taser does not injure an individual as it is a non-lethal weapon, however, it is common to experience bruising if you are tased whilst running as you will crash down into the ground without being able to stop yourself.

4.2.- When it comes to gunshot wounds (commonly dealt by police officers), you are expected to PainRP the same way as if you were stabbed on said location, considering that a gunshot wound is often more painful than a stab, given the fact that bullets spread into tiny pieces once it has entered the target’s body. If, let’s say, you were shot on a leg, you wouldn’t be authorised to keep running at full-speed (though our plugin already prevents that). On the other hand, if both of your arms were shot by an officer, you wouldn’t be able to wield any weapon and use it offensively against anyone. As for gunshot wounds to the chest, they should be taken the same way as deadly stabs found in 3.2., meaning that you wouldn’t be able to retaliate with deadly force towards the person that shot you. Finally, headshots will most likely result in the death of the individual, though you have the possibility of deciding if your character lives. If he/she does, they would need to PainRP for a prolonged period of time due to how extreme the aftermath of a gunshot wound is, even in the case of non-lethal gunshots.

As someone who barely gets into altercations revolving around weaponry or crime, I have witnessed fights -- or KPD training regarding fights -- which continued without the physical reaction of fights resembling some sort of lethal cat fight back-and-forth... I will be sending this to some people I know to spice up their combat and people in the game.
