Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
[EDUCATION]
Teachers are responsible for the education of students, whether in formal settings or informal ones. Their primary goals should always be to help someone grow their confidence and expand their knowledge. Teachers do not realize how important they are to someone's social standing until they push them far enough to cross their comfort zone. Teachers adapt their teaching styles to those around them and the different needs and paces of their students. A good teacher is also highly aware of their environment, the influences on their students, and their own knowledge base. They should attempt to be role models, recognizing someone's past and future behaviors, friendships, and maturity. Teachers must teach with clarity and confidence, ensuring they thoroughly understand the material themselves before presenting it to others. The commitment to accuracy lets their students know they can trust them and that their class may be one to look out for.
[POST-EDUCATION]
The impact of a teacher often extends beyond the classroom. Important and great teachers leave lasting impressions with their words and lessons. When students reflect on their day, they should recall the teachers who inspired them or taught them something new. It should have memories that bring a sense of nostalgia and warmth. Teachers should know to set values and skills. They provide a foundation upon which students build their future success, not academically, but in their personal and professional lives. Teachers are mentors who teach not to evoke boredom, but to have a laugh and show that it's not really that bad.
[SRP]
Bringing all of that together, SRP wouldn't be SRP without them. School plays a vital role in letting others meet new people, friends, and memories. Whether it's good or bad is up to the students but when it comes from the teachers, they may have a hard day because of those who they teach. For the most part, it doesn't really matter because teachers must push through it, and that makes them incredibly brave and stronger than most. Having to deal with 20 students who don't listen might be a little harder than chasing after a couple of deliquents... which teachers still have to do. They have to ensure they know everything about all students so they know not to leave anyone out.

In-Character Section
What's your character's full name?: Xiang Kaneko
What is your character's nationality?: Japanese-Korean
What is your preferred subject to teach?: History
Describe your character:
Xiang is a clean, 6'4" male who has a lot of experience with children. He loves them, don't get him wrong, but he's also quite strict and knowing of how he expect them to act. As an older fellow, he's had plenty of experience in teaching. He's always had a nack for it and never once thought about leaving the career. When Xiang was younger, he looked like a delinquent but was quite the opposite. He was a kind guy who nearly got along with everyone. Besides his mullet that he kept ever since he was 17, his hair is incredibly healthy... except when he bleaches it every so often. Through many illnesses and mishaps, he still wishes to be apart of the teaching career.
What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
Due to his experience, Xiang has a mixed perspective on students. While he is quick to form initial impressions based on outer appearances or behavior, he is equally committed to reassessing those judgments once he gets to know the individual. He firmly believes in fairness, treating every student with respect and equality, regardless of his first impression. For Xiang, each student shows potential to grow, succeed, and to surprise him. His perspective is also shaped by his role as a father. Having children of his own has deepened his empathy and understanding of young people. He approaches his students with a protective instinct, much like he does with his own kids, but balances that with a belief in teaching responsibility and independence. He is willing to go above and beyond for each student who shows their dedication and believes everyone has the ability to succeed.
Having previously served as a head of department, Xiang brings a selective perspective to his interactions with co-workers. His years of leadership and experience in this school have shaped his high expectations for maturity, professionalism, and dedication. He has high hopes for those who share that passion, the same one he does. He is particularly diligent in assessing who he deems fit for their roles as his past leadership role required him to feel as though he needed to do that. Even though his eye remains critical, he also respects the beliefs of his colleagues and what they believe their students should learn. Returning to a familiar place, Xiang hopes to regain that confidence and relationships he once had with previous colleagues while also maintaining a good reputation with the newer ones. Despite his high standards, Xiang is supportive and has no issue offering guidance and advice on those who request it.
What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
Xiang’s motivation for teaching arises from the idea of growing education. Having spent years as the head of a department and working closely with students and staff, he has witnessed firsthand how a supportive and inspiring educator can change lives. Many have come and gone but the memories those have placed in him have hit him somewhere deep. The love and dedication he feels for his own children extend naturally to his students. He wants to be the kind of mentor who not only imparts knowledge but also pushes confidence, helping those reach their full potential.
Roleplay Scenarios
A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
Xiang would first observe the student to understand where they are struggling, whether it’s with the material itself, the teaching method, or the mind of the student themself. Drawing on his experience, he would adapt his approach, perhaps breaking down the content into smaller, more digestible pieces or using real-world ****ogies to make the material more relatable. He would also encourage the student to ask questions and remind them that it’s okay to struggle, it's part of how they can learn.
A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
Xiang would address the disruptive behavior calmly but firmly, ensuring the student understands the impact of their actions on the class. He believes in maintaining respect and a positive atmosphere. He'd usually go up to the student themself to privately discuss the matter, giving them a warning or two to know they are in the wrong. Xiang would try to uncover the root cause of the behavior, whether it’s boredom, a lack of understanding, or something outside the classroom. This could be previous relationships, fights, or bullying... or it's just their personality. Based on his findings, he may give the student a chance to redeem themself.
Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
[ROLEPLAY SCENARIOS]
Students would act out the key moments of history so they could learn first hand why someone would've made a decision they did. They are assigned roles with specific objectives such as: declaring a war, making a tough decision, etc.
To do this, the students would be divided into multiple different groups. This way, they could meet new people or be confident with a group of their own people. Then, students would choose a figure to represent and would be given points based off of the accuracy to the history or lore they learned.
[ESCAPE ROOM]
Having a mock escape room would be excellent to a student's ability to learn, especially since it's an easy way for students to be engaged in the activity. Visual learners will also be able to complete this task. Students solve puzzles and answer history-related questions to "escape" a scenario tied to the subject matter. Each clue would be easily found either in a script or within the material learned. This could also be tied into a scavenger hunt or true or false.
