Describe your activity on the server:
I have been on this server for five or so years, and while my activity certainly fluctuates, there are many roleplay-based roles that I have applied in. Most of these roles were in the sports faction, and the last time I was in a team was the HS cheerleading team. Nowadays, I spend most of my time on the server, creating models for others and the occasional roleplay of my surfer stereotype character, Leon Lucky. Not much has happened with him, though. Nayla Isamali, on the other hand, just appears every now and then for a shop she works at.
List your current roles on the server:
My characters are all Grade-12. Out of character, I am a 3D modeler.

What position are you applying for (Maiden or Priest)?
Priest.
What is your motivation for applying?
It's a more relaxed form of roleplay, without neglecting writing in detail. Out of every faction I've checked out or have heard of, Shrine seemed a whole lot more laid-back but still needed to detailRP. I've been familiar with sports, seen how EMS handles things, and how KPD handles things - each one either had too much in detail, or too little that it felt more of a gameplay loop. I wanted something new, without pushing aside my favorite aspect of SchoolRP: Writing, and without making it feel too much like a chore but still required effort.
What do you currently know about Shintoism? Are you willing to learn more about it?
To put it honestly, my knowledge of Shintoism is rather limited, only learning from mainstream media and SchoolRP itself. I've only been exposed to glimpses of Japanese culture through mainstream anime, where they showcase characters praying, wishing for a good fortune, etc but they are never in depth as it only shows day to day life.
Here's what I know that exists within SchoolRP itself:

RANKS AMONG THE SHRINE MEMBERS | LANDMARKS / LOCATIONS IN THE SHRINE |
---|---|
Monastery Lead - This is the highest rank possible, and every rank serve under them. Maiden - --Naishoten ---- Highest rank a Maiden can achieve and leads the Miko. -- Miko ---- They serve under the Naishoten. Priest - -- Guji ---- Highest rank a Priest can achieve and leads the Shinkan. -- Shinkan --- They are priests who serve under the Guji. | As you climb the mountain but before you reach the bridge, there rests a well that you must use in order to wash your hands. Afterwards, you will reach the monastery itself. Shamusho (社務所): Located near the Sakura tree on the left, it's a small wooden building that houses a wishing wall and a counter wherein you can request for Ema (wooden wishing plaques), buy Japanese paper lanterns, and any other shrine related item. Tea House: Near the Sakura tree as well but on the right, yet another small building but bigger than the Shamusho. Visitors can enjoy a cup of tea served to them, and they may take a seat on one of the tables. Torii Gate: Before entering the Torii gate, people must always give their respects by bowing before it, and never walking in the middle, as the center is reserved for the Kami. Haiden (拝殿) - Worship/Main Building: In the middle of the whole monastery, and after the Torii gate, the main building resides up above. Here, a small area is dedicated to visitors so they may bow, then throw yen into the saisen box, and make a prayer/wish, with the bell in front. Other locations, especially the Honden (本殿), is only reserved for shrine members under strict circumstances, as it is a sacred location for the Kami. Dojo: Here, others may freely do a friendly spar on an in-character method, where the lower floor is simply a mat, and a few seats for observation. The upper floor, on the other hand, allows you to do spars on an out of character method, where PvP is activated on the mat. Fortune-Telling Building: I am unsure of what this building is called but it's a small building, only housing three seats and a table, located near a cliff and beside the Dojo. Here, visitors may receive tarot readings. Cave: Situated on the left side of the whole monastery and beside what looks like a grave, there's a cave that tells carvings of the Monastery's history. NOTE: There are many more buildings/rooms/landmarks in the monastery, some of which I am unaware of their purposes/functions and or appearances, especially those reserved for shrine members only. |
I wish to expand my knowledge on these locations, ranks and of Shintoism itself through roleplay, as well as the basic training we'll receive before anything else.

CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE / SITUATIONS
How does your character act around shrine grounds? How do they interact with guests and other staff?
Riku is a very casual, genuine and laidback man, with a tendency to jump in place. All the damn time. Any personal questions, he "cleverly" avoids through switching the topics or outright dodging the question. He's a fun guy, but only at a distance, and he intends to keep it that way.
You see a guest jumping around the roofs of the building and overall disrespecting shrine grounds, how would your character handle it?
At first, he would consider joining until.. Oh wait, he has to do his job. Begrudgingly, he does his job and requests the guest to get off the roof/respect shrine grounds. If they continued, he likely would joke about them being cursed with lego toes, or that lighting will befall upon them, or some other misfortune he could think of on the spot.
Why does your character want to become a shrine maiden/priest? What do they wish to achieve?
In search of something that will go right, something to ground him.. Some kind of miracle that only Kami can bestow upon him, if you will. Just like everyone, if you're at your wits' end, the first you'd look for is a higher being.
What are the core values of your character? (OPTIONAL - MORE INFO IN FAQ)
Self-Sacrifice to a fault - The man would push himself to bits, all for the sake of the people that he cares about. If it means getting no sleep, neglecting himself to a point of concern, that's him.
Self-Preservation - Isn't that funny? A direct contrast to his self-sacrificing nature. It's classic people-pleasing behavior, and sacrificing himself meant everybody was happy! Except for one.. Maybe a couple more.
Sentimentality - Any memory, any gifted object, he holds dear. A lover boy, with all the gift-giving and loving embraces. The shallow kind who would remember the color of your favorite flower but not its' specific species.
Fun - Riku doesn't like to take life too seriously, in spite of needing to. This means he's irresponsible and a coward but great to spend a vacation day with.

Backstory

Author's Note
Before we begin, and so I don't get a lawsuit from.. Riku or the following subjects. The names in this biography will be kept private. Some details may have been skipped as well, for Riku's privacy.
Highschool
Average 18 year old dumped by his biological family - tragic, I know, but he won't spare me any details, even if I pried the soul out of him. The only details I could gather are from Karakura and beyond, which is.. Still a lot. Bare with me here.
As soon as he stepped foot into Karakura Highschool, he was adopted by a crime family. Yup, shocker, a crime family in MY Karakura? Jikihara was a name among his many other surnames, but by far, the most memorable. Despite his familial ties, he never actually broke any laws and was babied by a majority of his family members - a princess, if you will. Except his father, of course. Having eight or more adopted siblings, it's laughable to think this man could ever be present. Someone should've called CPS.. Sheltered in his family's cute little bubble, he was unaware of these crimes, up until his father carelessly met with some.. Masked fellows. Surprise! But was it really? He barely knew the man, and crime in Karakura was a McDonald's order away. Nonetheless, his mother aided him in pushing through this shock.. Bummer the two got divorced, the family split, or went off God knows where, yet the mother remained a present figure in his life.. For a while, anyway. The only family members he has contact with now is his twin sister.
Oh right - his twin sister. They were separated until much later, where his sister managed to find him. Of course, it wasn't some blood is thicker than water fairytale - Riku was a neglectful coward, feeling the clouds of peaking in Highschool. At the very least though, time did its thing, and they managed to mend their relationship.. Somewhat. The details are a bit vague on this one, and he refused to tell me any of his family's names so, I couldn't provide an in-depth search.
Now, enough about his family - it took me years to get these out of him. What about his other close relationships?
There were plenty of people in his life that passed by; some seeked his comfort, some used him but many were a sort of 'guardian' to him.
One of his very first and most notable friend was an absolute menace. A great woman, really, who taught Riku all the cursed ways of Karakura and the wonders of alcoholism. Parties galore, get drunk, forget all your responsibilities or what "commitment" even is! She was fun, and Riku could learn from her.
After a series of sweet nothings and situationships from every party he's gone to.. Enter..
‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚. The One. ‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚.
Oh, his now ex-wife but back then, his biggest crush. They met at a small get-together with nothing but his friend's circle, and with the help of alcohol, Cupid's arrow hit him like a truck. A love story riddled with cliches, confession under a Sakura tree, bombarded with a series of obstacles (her family members), after making her his girlfriend. Of course, there's a certain incident near a specific bridge that he refuses to tell me. (I wonder why?)
College Life - Family
Now, these two extended over to his college life. Things were swell, your usual yucky couple stuff.. If you ignore the grief he's gone through, that is.
Multitudes of it, in fact. Those close to him faking identities, disappearing god knows where under the context of 'death'.. Even he, himself, doesn't know which one was real and which one was fake. This was his peak alcoholism, swam in alcohol just as much as he did for the college swim team.
Now, after college - he married his highschool sweetheart. Isn't that cute? All those late night talks of their future, own home, family.. It's been smooth sailing along the way.. You'd think they'd last, considering he went through multiple drill sergeants of a family.
Until they didn't.
Wow.. Um, that's sad. How did that happen?
Riku was NOT ready, what did you expect? They were young and in love. All the family planning, figuring out how to even buy a house, or those sleepless nights because neither can't figure out why their babies are crying.. The two of them were bound to start arguing over petty things, especially under stress. It was fight after fight, only pausing to take care of their children, and every major incompatibility they overlooked showed up.
Obviously, they get divorced!
Hundreds of paperwork later, their mutual agreement concluded - Riku pays child support, visits the kids frequently, and that's about the only form of contact they have left. As a way to repent through everything, he needed to get himself together, especially being a father. That meant no more drinking, and since then, he's kept his promise.
Now
If I were to describe this man now..? An exhausted ex-alcoholic and a manchild. Unable to keep up with the demands of his previous occupation alongside his regrets and lack of drinks, he went into full-time boy failure.. Who knows? Maybe enlightment will save him.
