Level 3
KARAKURA HOSPITAL APPLICATIONI’m really drawn to this opportunity because it offers a chance to explore a whole new side of roleplaying on the server. Being a psychiatrist isn’t just about having a job; it’s about diving into the minds of other characters, understanding their motivations, and helping them work through whatever challenges they might be facing. That kind of depth and complexity is something I find really exciting as a roleplayer. Of course, becoming a successful psychiatrist also means gaining a certain level of status and financial stability within the game, which is definitely a plus. But for me, it’s more about the personal growth it offers my character and the chance to contribute to the server community in a unique and meaningful way. I’ve been roleplaying here for a while now, and I’m ready to embrace the challenges and responsibilities that come with taking on a more adult role. I truly believe that becoming a psychiatrist would allow me to do just that while also creating engaging and impactful storylines with other players.

What experiences do you have with roleplay?:
I’ve been a dedicated roleplayer on this server since 2020, and in that time, I’ve explored a wide range of genres and scenarios. I’ve always been drawn to the creative freedom and collaborative storytelling that roleplaying offers. Over the years, I’ve participated in various types of roleplay, including romance, family dynamics, and even the thrill of gang RP. I’ve also found myself drawn to more structured settings like school roleplay, where I can explore character dynamics within a familiar environment. Before the server shifted to focus on official teams within the KVA, I had the opportunity to lead a volleyball team roleplay. It was incredibly rewarding to develop team dynamics, strategize for matches, and build a compelling narrative around our shared passion for the sport. Through these diverse experiences, I’ve honed my ability to craft engaging characters, navigate complex relationships, and contribute to immersive storylines. I’m always eager to push my boundaries as a roleplayer and embrace new challenges.I’ve been a dedicated roleplayer on this server since 2020, and in that time, I’ve explored a wide range of genres and scenarios. What knowledge do you have of the roles within the Hospital Faction?
I have a good general understanding of the various roles within a hospital setting, though I know the specifics might differ within the server’s lore. I’m aware of the roles of doctors, nurses, surgeons, and various specialists. My primary interest and research have focused on the role of a psychiatrist, which involves diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, providing therapy, and working collaboratively with patients. While I have this foundational knowledge, I am very eager to learn more about the specific roles and responsibilities within this particular hospital facility and discover the unique aspects of the server’s medical system.
Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are expected to attend or you will be punished?
Regarding training, yes, I completely understand and acknowledge the expectation to attend when I am online. I believe ongoing training is essential for any professional, especially in healthcare. I am committed to attending all required sessions and view them as valuable opportunities to learn from experienced individuals, refine my skills, and stay up-to-date on best practices. I also understand that there are consequences for unexcused absences from training and respect the need for these guidelines to maintain the quality and integrity of the hospital’s services.

Character Backstory:
"The smell of disinfectant always takes me back. Not in a bad way, though. It reminds me of being a kid, perched on one of those awful plastic chairs in my mom’s office at Karakura General Hospital. She was a psychiatrist there, and even though I was just a kid, I loved watching her work. See, things at home weren’t so great. My dad… well, he left when I was six. Before that, it was always fighting between him and my mom. Loud, angry whispers that turned into shouts I couldn’t understand. But Mom, she never brought that anger to work. At the hospital, she was this calm, steady presence. I remember watching her talk to patients, her voice always soft and kind. Sometimes they’d be really upset, crying or even yelling, but she never flinched. She’d just listen, really listen, and then talk to them in a way that made them feel safe. It was like she could untangle the mess in their heads and help them find their way back. There was this one time, I’ll never forget it. This young woman, she must have been barely older than I am now, came in. She looked so lost, so scared. I remember thinking she looked like a fragile bird, about to break. But my mom, she just sat with her, talked to her, and slowly, I saw the fear melt away from the woman’s face. By the end of their session, she was smiling, actually smiling. That’s when I knew. I wanted to do what my mom did. I wanted to help people like that, to be that source of comfort and strength. It wasn’t just about following in her footsteps, it was about continuing something she started, something important. So here I am, applying to Karakura General, hoping to walk those same halls, not as a kid watching his mom, but as a psychiatrist ready to listen, to heal, and to make a difference, just like she did."
SECTION 2: MEDICAL HISTORY
What is your character’s medical speciality? Why did they choose this focus?
(Ensure this is appropriate to the position you have chosen. Some examples can be found here)
"it’s psychiatry. It’s all I’ve ever really wanted to do. I grew up watching my mom help people as a psychiatrist, and seeing the way she could pull someone back from the edge, how she could help them find peace… it was incredible. It’s not just about diagnosing illnesses, it’s about truly listening, understanding, and being that steady hand to guide them through the darkness. That’s what I want to do, to be that same source of strength and hope for my own patients.”
What medical residencies did your character take after medical school?
“After medical school, I knew I needed a different perspective, a new environment to really push myself. So, I went to the States for my residency. Landed a spot at the University of Pennsylvania, their Psychiatry Department. It was intense, demanding, but I learned from some of the best minds in the field. Plus, that East Coast energy? It was a whole new world compared to Karakura, that’s for sure!”
Does your character have any work experience in medical positions?
“Besides my residency at UPenn? I’m a big believer in always learning, always growing. So yeah, I’ve taken some extra courses and workshops. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction… that sort of thing. I even took a seminar on cross-cultural approaches to mental health, which felt pretty relevant given my own background, you know?”
Has your character completed any additional schooling?
SECTION 3: CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE
Describe your character; how do they look, what makes them unique? How would they be perceived by others?
Toma carries himself with a quiet strength. At 6’3", he has an undeniable presence, but it’s not an intimidating one. His lanky frame and slightly unkempt brown hair give him an approachable air, while his piercing green eyes hint at a deep well of empathy and understanding. People often comment on his calming presence, noting his attentive gaze and gentle demeanor. There’s a stillness about him that draws others in, making them feel seen and heard. Despite his height, he doesn’t take up too much space, often assuming a posture that is both respectful and slightly reserved. He speaks thoughtfully, choosing his words carefully, and his soft-spoken nature only amplifies the impact of his words when he does speak. There’s a quiet intensity to him, a sense that he observes and absorbs everything around him, making him a comforting presence for those seeking solace and understanding.
How does your character act on and off duty?
On duty, Toma is the epitome of professionalism. He's a attentive listener, absorbing every detail of his patients' stories with a calm focus. His touch is gentle, his questions insightful, and his demeanor reassuring. He carries himself with a quiet authority that stems not from ego, but from genuine care and expertise. There's a reason patients feel comfortable confiding in him; Toma exudes an aura of safety and understanding.
Off duty, Toma sheds the formal demeanor, though his kindness and empathy remain constant. He's the kind of guy who's always up for a conversation, whether it's debating the latest novel he's read or just listening to a friend's worries. He has a dry wit and a self-deprecating humor that emerges more readily when he's relaxed. You might find him browsing the shelves of a used bookstore, hiking a scenic trail, or simply enjoying a cup of coffee while people-watching at a local cafe. The weight of his work never truly leaves him, but he finds solace in the simple joys of life and the company of good people."My plans for the future? Well, they’re certainly intertwined with my aspirations in psychiatry. This field is more than a career path for me; it’s a calling. So, naturally, my primary focus right now is to learn and grow as much as possible, hopefully securing a position within this very institution. Long term, I envision a life that balances the fulfillment of my professional goals with the joys of family. I hope to marry, have children, and create a peaceful and loving home – a sanctuary where I can return to after a day of delving into the complexities of the human mind.”
Does your character function better on their own or with others?
"That’s a fascinating question, and one I often ponder myself. While I value my own time for reflection and study – essential for processing complex cases – I find my true strength lies in connecting with others. Psychiatry, at its core, is about understanding the human experience, and that understanding flourishes in the shared space between two individuals. So, I’d say I function best when I can balance solitary contemplation with the insights and empathy gained from working directly with patients"
