What’s Wrong with Costumes?
As you all know, costumes of any kind are not allowed in school. It’s a shame because costumes are fun and embrace creativity. I see lots of costumes, like a full on knight with a sword, a dog, Patrick, Yoshi, KPD, and more. What’s wrong with costumes? What is Banned?
Full Costumes
The most obvious, full costumes. Like the knight pictured above and Yoshi pictured below! Some people go all out and get chewed out for it. Sure, the masks make a bit of sense, but the Halloween Dance was fun and caused no issues. It’s fun, creative, and makes people well-liked and popular!Onesies
Onesies are something I just don’t understand. It’s a simple one piece outfit that makes students comfortable and happy, sharing their style with friends. I’ve seen several sports teams and groups of people with their own special outfits and uniforms. No masks needed. What is Allowed?
Headpieces and Hats
Headpieces, like animal ears, are acceptable costumes! They’re simple and can pass as decoration. Hats are also allowed, such as the penguin hat. Harry and Neon are examples of people who wear costumes without getting detention! If you see them, congratulate them on beating the system.Actions
Acting like something else is allowed, and also encouraged! It makes you unique, and gets you good grades in Performing Arts Class. There’s also a whole club for it! If you act like something else, like a dog or a cop, it’s perfectly acceptable. Making it your whole personality is also fine, apparently. An example of this is Neon! There’s no need to hide it, we all know her tendency to look and act like a dog, without the full on costume part. She growls at people, barks, is obsessed with bacon, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she tries to bite people.
Mascots
If you earn the mascot position, you get to wear a whole costume setup. Spartan or Bobcat, years of sweat built up and no air conditioning. Must suck, but it does get you past the no costumes rule.Schools should be more lenient: The SOLUTION
Dress Up Days - Every Friday, students should be able to dress up in a costume. It’s like the purge, if crime is legal one day, there’s no need to commit it on the rest! Fridays are fun, so why not make it even more fun? After all, we just survived another week of school.Leniency - The school should be more lenient with the types of costumes that are allowed. Mainly ONESIES! They're like blanket pajamas that double as your favorite animal or character. It would be great for clubs, and with this onesie exception, Nap Club probably wouldn’t have left. It can also make students relaxed and less riled up, meaning less detentions!
