(the spoiler command will not stop glitching for me. my apologies!)
Describe your activity on the server:
Frequent. I am online every day for a few (or many) hours, usually averaging around 5 for weekdays and 9 for weekends. I can usually be found in a DetailRP scenario, by the volleyball courts, or treating patients at the hospital. I’m usually on at least two of my alts simultaneously, rendering me available to respond at pretty much any time.
Furthermore, as a current member of EMS, I have experience in responding to event pings in a timely manner. One of the main activities as a lawyer is responding to lawyer calls from KPD. I am able to see Discord notifications while on SRP and will check them regularly as to see if anything is needed of me.
As for my current availability, I’m often on for a short while after I get ready in the morning, during my free periods (late morning), and once I’m home in the evening until I sleep. On weekends I am often entirely free depending on different online and IRL events. Although I do have a life outside of SRP, I can often shift parts of my schedule around as to make room for events and trials when needed. I may not be online for all of the hours listed below but I can log on at any time given barring extenuating circumstances.

APPLICATION INFORMATION
What position are you applying for?:
Lawyer
What is your motivation for applying?:
Why am I applying in the first place? That’s a strong starting point. My motivation to become a lawyer is due to the interpersonality, logic, and creativity required to succeed in court. I feel that this role would allow me to apply my current skills and develop them further, leading to a positive experience all-around.
I am an avid enjoyer of DetailRP and have been writing in a roleplay setting for half my life (9 years at this point… Yikes.) Hence, I actively seek out roles that allow me to develop my character through work-based scenarios and interactions. Lawyer is a perfect example of this. A lawyer’s main role in the courtroom is to argue their case on one side or another. Through this, they are occasionally asked to stand for actions with which they do not agree, creating an interesting opportunity for character growth.
As a current doctor on SRP, one of my favorite parts of the role is conducting check-ups and consultations. I love getting to know new characters and learning about their lives. As a potential lawyer, the opportunity to attending attorney calls and client meetings appeals due to the interactions they provide with the general public. On top of that, one of my favorite aspects of joining a new faction is meeting new people. I am not new to the server by any means but, in my six months here, I've unfortunately not gotten the chance to meet everyone.
Furthermore, I enjoy debating in real life. Practice structuring formal, legal arguments would be a great learning experience for me as a person. If I were to be a lawyer, I’d hope to learn more about court processes and preparing for cases through my work.
Do you have an understanding of Karakura’s laws & Constitutional rights?:
I do. I am acquainted with the entirety of Karakura’s constitution.
What are your goals for being in Government Faction?:
I split this section in two as I’m not 100% sure what is being asked.
My personal goal I’d like to accomplish through my participation in the Government Faction is to improve upon my argumentation. Currently, I’m very much capable of forming my point and defending it. However, I feel that my flow and clarity, especially in impromptu speech, can be improved through practice. I am much stronger when given the chance to plan and develop my arguments ahead of time given that I’m prone to logical jumps. If I were to be accepted into the faction I would improve on these skills through cross-examinations and client calls.
As for the faction itself, I believe government is imperative to maintaining realism on SRP. Karakura is a city filled with corruption and crime. Hence, checks and balances are paramount to ensuring that . (Where is the thrill in crime or policework if there are no consequences?) If I became a lawyer I’d do my best to help both the civilians and the government officials and maintain justice between the two sides.
In your own words, describe the different roles of the Government Faction:
Governor | Typically, the governor is the overall leader of a region. They enter office via popular vote conducted in the region in which they wish to lead. In Karakura, much like other government officials, they are determined by a vote on the mainland. They have a variety of responsibilities including making official decisions, distributing ID cards, officiating marriages, approving adoption paperwork, conducting public surveys, and inspecting shops. |
Lawyer | In court, lawyers are in charge of representing the plaintiff and the defendant, creating arguments for both sides. Once both points have been explicated and witnesses have been called cross-examination occurs before the judge makes the final call. The responsibilities of lawyers include attending trials, attorney calls, client meetings, filing restraining orders, and working at the front desk. |
Judge | The judge is the authority in court. They are in charge of directing court procedures, determining the validity of evidence, and making the final decision for cases. Furthermore, outside of court, judges are also responsible for officiating marriage. A judge is necessary for a Karakuran marriage to be seen as legal. Restraining orders are another important facet of a judge’s role. They are imperative to the safety of civilians, granting them legal protection from those who have harmed them. Aside from these responsibilities, judges can also approve adoption paperwork. They can often be found at the front desk as to make them accessible to the public when needed. |
Do you acknowledge that upon being accepted you can be subject to removal at any given time?:
Of course.
Have you read & agreed to follow the Government Faction rules?:
I have.

♬⋆.˚ " now introducing... chloé jeong !"
IN CHARACTER SECTION
Full name:
The prospective lawyer adjusted the hem of her blouse, scratching the side of her nose idly as she made eye contact with the interviewer. “Chloé Jeong. Pleasure to meet you.” She extended her hand cordially, giving them an easy smile. “Chloé works fine. We’re not in court.” Chloé brushed the hair off of her shoulders. She knew full well what this was: a trial run to showcase her persuasive strengths. Instead of arguing on the side of either the plaintiff or the defendant Chloé had to prove that, beyond any reasonable doubt, she was the correct and superior fit for the position at hand. Easy enough, right?
Preferred title (Mr., Mrs., etc.):
Chloé hummed at the question, shifting in her seat. “As I said, I’d like my clients to feel comfortable with me in a professional sense. They ought to trust that I care about their case and will put in all my effort to influence the court’s decision in their favor. If that means dropping honorifics, so be it.” She trailed off with a shrug. “As for titles, the specifics of which one doesn’t matter too much to me. I’d default to Ms. but any work.” Chloé gave the interviewer another smile, letting them know that her response was fully completed.
Current age:
“26 years old,” she stated simply. It put her past experiences and demeanor in perspective. After all, she was still rather young. “I graduated from Columbia Law last year, actually. I had to take an extra year as to be able to practice in Karakura. I knew I wanted to move here so it seemed like the obvious option.” Chloé gave a firm nod. Perfect.
Date of birth:
Chloé thought for a second longer than necessary. Sure, she could remember all the information she needed for a case. However, her own birthday? This interviewer was asking too much of her. “December 7th, 1998,” she spat out after an embarrassingly long pause, “I’m a Sagittarius sun, Leo moon, and Aquarius rising.” That, on the other hand, she could remember on a moment’s notice.
Gender:
Female
Academic Degree:
Yale University (2017-2021) — Criminal Justice (major), History (minor)
Columbia Law School (2021-2023) — Juris Doctor (JD)
Columbia Law School (2023-2024) — Master of Law degree (LLM) specializing in international law
Major(s):
Criminal Justice
Minor(s):
History
Work experience:
Chloé let out a forced chuckle. Compared to older, more experienced applicants, the pink-haired woman lacked in practical experience. Naturally, a 26-year-old did not have nearly the same resume as someone 10 or 20 years older. Who knows how old or experienced the other candidates could be. Chloé blinked, shaking off the negative thought. “Personally,” she started, “Instead of jumping straight into firm work after the bar exam, I chose to take an extra year of schooling as to obtain my permit to practice law internationally.” She pursed her lips. “I could have stayed in L.A. but what good am I doing there, really? Ah, right. Another celebrity sues a random civilian for driving too close on 101. Great case of our times.” Chloé snorted, “I’d rather apply myself somewhere where I can actually make a difference. Karakura is known to have people worth defending.” She slipped the second comment in as if she were complimenting the city. Chloé was smart enough to know that Karakura would be an interesting place to work as a lawyer in comparison to the other, more mundane prefectures. It was for that reason she chose it. The challenge would keep things interesting for the young lawyer.
Nationality & born location:
Korean-American from Los Angeles, California, USA
Fluent languages (Underline your native):
English — Chloé grew up in the United States. Hence, it makes sense why her English is fluent.
Korean — As a Korean-American, Chloé's parents spoke Korean with her at home from a young age. Although her handwriting and vocabulary are sub-par, Chloé's understanding of the language is strong enough to hold a conversation.
Japanese — Chloé first learned about Karakura during her first year of law school, deciding immediately that it was where she wished to practice. However, one main issue sat between her and her dreams. In order to become a lawyer in Japan, Chloé needed at least proficient Japanese if not full fluency. She studied abroad with a language program during the summer in between her two years of law school which helped greatly. Through focused study and hard work, Chloé was able to pass the JLPT, a common language test used to determine employment eligibility.
French — Despite a few misconceptions, Chloé is not actually French. Rather, her parents come from that certain class of Hollywood-adjacent pretentious folk who wanted their children to have unique names. Chloe fit well enough with the Korean name they had in mind but it was "far too basic" hence the accent at the end. Because of her name, a good few people have expected the future lawyer to understand French. It annoyed her enough that she took a few classes in the language during college. Still, her French understanding is limited to basics. (Thankfully, Chloé is talented in smiling and nodding as if she understands everything.)
(OOC note: Korean and French applications will be submitted once I know whether Chloé has been accepted or not.)
Criminal record:
“There’s nothing in Karakura, nor on the mainland.” came Chloé’s immediate (defensive) response. Her cheeks flushed. She had not expected to be questioned about her past, especially events that had transpired long ago in the past. “I had a poor history with dares as a teenager,” the prospective lawyer started off with a snort, “There were many things I did just to prove that I could. Idiotic, teenager behavior— driving a car without a proper license, underage drinking, shoplifting makeup that one time...” The pink-haired woman pursed her lips. How could she spin this to be in her favor? Chloé should have thought of that before starting on her answer. However, the temptation to yap had been too great. “I was never on trial nor put in jail but that isn’t to say I didn’t worry about it. I actually learned a lot about legal procedures due to stress researching during this time. It’s what prompted my interest in law as a career.” Bingo. Chloé offered the interviewer a winning smile as she finished off.
What makes you a good candidate for this job?
Chloé locked eyes with the interviewer, blinking slowly. Had she not made it clear through the rest of her application why she would be perfect? Her left eye twitched. “I have a question for you, actually,” she countered, lips pursed. “Why would you pass up on hiring me?” The pink-haired woman rested both of her forearms on the table in front of her, clasping her hands together and leaning forward. “Bear with me now,” she added, a small chuckle escaping her lips as to not to lose the interviewer over a bruised ego.
“Under no circumstances consider myself an example of perfection,” Chloé reassured, playing with a loose strand of hair, “With all due respect, I believe that, through my prior education, determination, and thorough training with individuals such as yourself, I am beyond capable of fulfilling the role of a lawyer in Karakura.”
She pulled an elegantly printed copy of her resume from her bag, setting it on the table in front of the interviewer. “As you can see here, I graduated from Yale with an undergraduate degree in criminal justice and history along with Columbia Law School. Although I may not be from this island, I have passed the bar exam for international law practice. Hence, I can assure you that I am well-versed in the Japanese and Karakuran legal systems.” She paused, allowing the interviewer to take some notes. “Furthermore, I’ve completed internships at a variety of top law firms during the summers of my college years. With my age in consideration, I have demonstrated my passion and competence for law at every opportunity given to me.” She offered the senior lawyer an honest smile.
