Server disconnecting when trying to download resource pack

Just found this server and it looks great, but since clicking yes to download the resource pack, my game freezes for ages then kicks me off the server. I have tried in 1.12.2 and .1 but nothing is working just the same thing again and again.

Your computer may not be able to tolerate the resource pack. Try looking at the official resource pack format.
