Trivia

What subject are you applying to teach?:

Math!

What is your motivation for becoming a teacher?:
I often find myself bored during the school day. Maybe not enough classes are being held. A friend isn't online. Maybe there aren't even any teachers online. Being a teacher would give me something to do. As well as everyone else. I'll be able to educate the students of Karakura, and even help out the newer players. Which is something I know that I would have appreciated when I was a newer player. The students are lively bunch and will keep me on my toes. I'll be kept busy and keep them busy. As I get to enjoy the wild lively chaos they bring into everyday life! Sometimes School is dull. I want to add some color and energy to it.

Do you understand that you are applying for the teacher role of UT?
Yup!

Do you understand if your application is accepted, you will have to undergo teacher training?:
Ofc, the best teachers are the ones that can still learn something.

What are the teacher class logs and why are they important?:
The teacher class logs are for logging a class to get credit towards the quota. Without them you will not get credited for the classes you taught and receive your payment for completing quota. Quota is 10 classes a month.

As a teacher, what are the strict rules when being in a class?:
1. Absolutely no harassment of any kind to anyone.
2. No yelling.
3.No running.
4. Raise your hand to speak/ No talking when the teacher is talking.
5. 3 strikes and you're out.
6. Phones on silent.

What experience, in general, do you have in roleplay?:
I have been roleplaying since the early 2000s. I started out on Roblox with games like "The Neighborhood of Robloxia" and "Adopt me". I roleplayed with friends and strangers as students, animals, campers, rebels ruling the in waste lands. Roblox has a lot less structure than a Minecraft server such as this. I had to deal with trolls and other nuisances. I switched sometime in 2017 over to playing more Minecraft. Playing on Hypixel and roleplaying for my first time on Mineteria. A server a found through TheFamousFilms' videos. Before it was remodeled and changed to be very similar to Hypixel, I did a lot of FNAF roleplay. Making whatever little stories up and just having fun. More recently I started playing on SRP. My first real character was Jiro Isuma, then Emiliano, then so on and so forth. I kept making new characters and I continued to have ideas for new ones, and I still do! I roleplay as animals as well from time to time and just enjoy myself.

In detail, describe the ranking system of teachers:
- HD
↳ Meaning:
Head of Department
↳ Description: The very top of a department. They over see the teachers below them and keep order. HDs help newer teachers find their footing as well.

- QT
↳ Meaning:
Qualified Teacher
↳ Description: A teacher who's gained a lot of experience. They are more qualified than a NQT.

- NQT
↳ Meaning:
Newly Qualified Teacher
↳ Description: A teacher that has gone through the proper training. They gain a classroom in which they now use what was taught to them to teach the students. They now have the ability to host classes without someone supervising. A step up from UT.

- UT
↳ Meaning:
Unqualified Teacher
↳ Description: A new teacher that has gone through the application process and was accepted. They will be given an introduction and training so that they may have a class and teach.

Teacher Knowledge

Present to us your knowledge about Teachers in-game and out-of-game, what purpose do teachers serve. What salary do they get? Include a paragraph about the way teachers teach, what they do in their spare time in general.:

Teachers are people who have become qualified to educate and pass on valuable information to the youth. They teach them life skills that they will use as functioning adults of society. Teachers are paid based on rank. 350k base pay for the Unqualified and Newly Qualified Teachers. The higher ranked teachers, Qualified teachers and Head of Departments, get a base pay of 400k. After the quota of 10 classes for the OOC month is reach, 50k is added to the paycheck for every 5 extra classes taught. Teachers provide worksheets, hands on/off games, teach activities, and projects to impress their knowledge upon their students. In their spare time the teachers decompress, grade papers, and make lesson plans. Continuing to educate the new youth of Karakura.

Why are teachers important to a SchoolRP server?:
Teachers guide the players through life. Teaching them what they need for their character to graduate to college and into adult hood. Delivering their knowledge to them through lesson plans. They keep order in the school and are good person for a newer player to look to for help. Without them the highschoolers and college kids would not be able to be come knowledgeable and functional adults of Karakura.

What lesson planning system does the school work on?:
MoSCoW: "Must have, Should have, Could have, Would have."

Character Information

Describe the character: How do they look and act? What makes them unique and different?:

Chiba is a 6'5 husky Japanese male. Having jet black hair that was parted to cover his right eye. Speaking of eyes, his were a dull that were always lost in thought. He quiet and reserved when alone, but loud and excitable around others. The man walked with a limp; he wore grey hearing aids 24/7. Chi was either talking too loudly or too softly, depending on the volume of his hearing aids. He had a soothing smooth deep voice that was like the hum of a fine tuned engine. He consistently without fail smelled like an auto shop. It was as if Motor Oil was his cologne of choice. "I don't know" was this man's favorite answer. It meant he still had something to teach and possibly something new to learn! Maybe a new method? It gave him purpose, and Chi loved nothing more than pushing the limits of the human mind with numbers. His passion for math radiates off of him in 360° waves to all his students the moment his mouth opens. Even when he's tired he finds something about math to gush over. Maybe even just simple algebra.

What is their outlook on students and their co-workers?:
Chi adores his students, and tolerates the bad apples. He knows not everyone can be helped and simply are just born that way. He see students as empty jars, even the bad apples, that he could fill with the knowledge of numbers. Little jars he wants to guide into understanding the numbers that surround and make up their world. As for his co-workers, Chiba views them to be possible friends and holds a certain respect for each of them. Loving to share whatever ideas to make their classes more interactive and engaging for the students. Even if he may not always agree with them he still holds the utmost respect for them.

What are their plans for the future?:
Chiba dreams of creating a new form of math. One that even math haters will love. This dream started when he was a child in class. Seeing how some of his friends reacted to the subject and the difficulty they faced. It fueled him to create some form of math they would love. If that fails. Work for Nasa and study rocket science. Send at least 3 humans past Pluto and launch 7 rockets. His fall back fall back plan is to teach until he's 80 and retire. After, move to Florida, USA and watch rockets launch from his back yard while cooking up some gator on the grill with his Ford 150 in the driveway. Oh? Marriage? He's thought about it and shrugs at the thought. "If the angles align and a triangle forms. Then let the love flourish." As he says.

Scenarios
/*Do not mention use of FearRP*/

You find a gang of delinquents in the hallway cursing and swearing, what do you do?:
I look over the group and approach them calmly. Limping as I do. I smooth out my dress shirt as I look at them sternly. I open my mouth and speak in an authoritative tone, "We have rules about profanity. I'm sure you know them. Now tell me the reason for use of such language." I listen to what they have to say and resolve what issue they are having. "A reminder to refrain from using language like that on school grounds. Remember the rules and please follow them." After making sure the delinquents are well taken care of and no more issues arise, I turn on my heels and walk away.

No one in your class is listening to a word you say, what do you do?:
I look at my class and click my tongue. I adjust my tie and clear my throat. "If you are not here to learn I will ask you to leave. I will not tolerate disrespect on any level and hope you treat my colleagues better than this. If you are unable to answer a question I ask you. I'll be kicking you out. Now please pay attention." I go back to the lesson. Occasionally calling on students and questioning them about something I just taught. Those who fail to answer correctly are kicked from the class room.

When in the teacher's lounge, how does your character act?:
I get some coffee and take a seat. Stretching, before twisting in said seat and cracking my back. I chat with my co-workers; grab a snack or to 2. I sinking into the cushions, and completely relax my body. Letting the stress of any previous classes or events leave my body. I turn down my hearing aids, but not off, to enjoy the quiet. After a good few minutes, I get a bit of grading done. Before heading back to teaching, I turn my hearing aids up, smooth out my dress shirt, and wave bye to my colleagues.

Provide at least 4 detailed /me's of your character inside a classroom:

/me
cleared his throat as he hobbled to the board. He wrote "TEST DAY" in curly upper case letters. Muttering to himself about getting a cane. He'd turn to his chair and sat down in it as it creaked under him. "Oh c'mon now. Don't give out on me." He'd chuckle and shake his head. Chi wrapped his hand around the top left desk drawer's handle and yanked it open. He pulled out a stack of test papers and plopped them down on his desk. Hearing the audible groan of his students did not deter him. He put a hand up and motioned for them to come to him. "Single file line. This is a 10 question test. After completing it please make sure to sign it and bring it up here." He'd tap the "To be graded" bin on his desk. As kids started lining up he'd give each person a paper. Muttering out a "You're welcome" to those who said thank you. After everyone had a paper, he grabbed the extra's, opened that same top left drawer, and set them inside. Closing the drawer and standing up; he hobbled to the board, and checked his watch. 11:02 A.M. Chiba wrote "End time: 11:17" underneath "TEST DAY". Chi took his seat and started finalizing the worksheets for the surprise game after the test.

/me stood at the board; leaning on it heavily while holding a stack of books. "Ok, I want you all to come grab a book! Break up into groups of no more than 4 and no less than 2. Single file line." He'd pass out the books and watch to make sure everyone had a partner or was in a group. "Great! Now. We're going to do some Geometry. I'll draw a triangle. 2 of the angles will have their degrees filled in and 1 will not. Find the degrees and tell me what kind of triangle it is. I'll keep track of points and the winners will be given stickers!-But for now a quick review. What kinds of triangles are there?" He didn't pick on anyone so that they could get to the game sooner. "Right, Acute, Obtuse, and Equiangular. Are Equilateral triangles Equiangular? Yes. They are. With that out of the way. Lets begin!" Chi grabbed a piece of new chalk and drew a triangle on the board. Each angle labeled either A,B, or C. He then filled in the degrees of the angles inside the triangle. A= 57° and C= 89° B=??. He turned back to the class and moved so everyone could see the board. "Find angle B and what kind of triangle it is!"

/me stretched as he sat on his desk. Looking out at the empty classroom. He sighed; sliding off the desk with a pop of his hip as he started hobbling around the room. He glanced around at his desks. Wiping off pencil and eraser shavings. He did this to every desk before going to his closet. He rummaged through the books and other papers before puling out a broom and dust pan. Stepping back, he left the closet door open as he went around the room again. This time he swept up the shavings and whatever trash was on the floor. Chi made little trash piles around the room. He knelt down and collected each in his dust pan. Wobbling around to each pile and adding it to his pan. After, he hobbled to his desk and dumped the pan out into the trash bin next to his desk. Chiba limped to the closet and put away the broom and dust pan in a more visible spot this time. He glanced around the closet before pulling out an old gray ragged kitchen towel, a pack of disposable yellow gloves, and some half filed Clorox Bleach spray. Chi set down the spray and rag on his desk and ripped open the pack of gloves. He tossed the plastic packaging in the trash and snapped the hazard yellow gloves on. Turning to his desk, Chiba grabbed the spray bottle and rag. He turned the nozzle of the sprayer head to "on" and hobbled around the room again. Spraying and wiping down each desk aggressively. He would be damned if anyone got sick in his classroom! After 20 minutes of this he finally finished. Stumbling back to the closet and putting away the rag and spray bottle. Chiba took off his gloves and tossed them in the trash can. The desks looked spotless and the room looked a lot cleaner and nicer. Proud of his work he sat down and smiled.

/me stood in front of the chalk board with chalk in his hand. Writing "24" and "12" in the middle of the board, he turned to the class and addressed them. "Greatest common factor. The largest common divisor between 2 integers that is not 0. An integer is a whole number. NOT a fraction." He'd pace a bit as he glanced around the room" Now! If we write down all the numbers that can be multiplied by one another to equal 24 and 12 . . ." He turned to the board and wrote "1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24" under 24, and "1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12" under 12. "We'll see the factors of each number. As we look at the factors we'll see numbers that 12 and 24 have in common. 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12 are all the numbers that they have in common." He'd circle said numbers. "But we need the LARGEST one." Chiba used his hands to emphasize this. "So out of 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12, which is the biggest?" He'd pause to let them think. " . . . I hope you're thinking 12, because it is. 12 is the Greatest Common Factor- OR G.C.F." Chi wrote "G.C.F" on the white board above 24 and 12. "There's also L.C.M. Which is Least Common Multiple." He'd write " GCF=12" on the side and "L.C.M" at the top next to "G.C.F". He shuffled over to give himself more room. "Taking the same numbers, 12 and 24, lets multiply them each by numbers 1 through 5." He'd write out 12 times 1-5 and what they equal on the other side of the board and do the same for 24. "Looking at these numbers, do we see any ones that are the same? Only 24 in this case! 1 x 24 and 2 x 12 both equal 24. That would make 24 our Least Common Multiple." Chiba would circle 24 and under it write "LCM= 24". "That is how you tell the GCM and LCM of 2 integers. Any questions?"

Backstory
Chiba in Kyushu for most of his life. His parents past early in life and left him their farm which he lived and worked on. However, when he was 25, a devastating earthquake and subsequent volcanic eruption desiccated his town and left him homeless. The earthquake destroyed his house which collapsed on him. He was trapped for days before a neighbor freed him. It was only 2 days later when Sakurajima erupted. While Chi and his neighbor were running, a house exploded. Chi was closest to the house and shrapnel was embedded in his side. His ears were bleeding and his left hip was shattered. His neighbor had a broken arm, but managed to carry Chi to a safe place.

The neighbor and Chiba were rescued by an American cargo ship that was passing by on its way to mainland Japan just a day after the first eruption. Chiba and others got on and left nearly an hour before the 2nd more devastating eruption. Not everyone made it out alive. The crew on the ship treated them the best they could with what little medical supplies and qualification they had. Chi barely remembers the voyage as he was in and out of consciousness. The ship dropped off Chi and the other refugees at Tokyo bay where police were already notified of their arrival and had several ambulances waiting for them.

Chiba was taken to the hospital where he was treated for hearing damage, which was later declared to be permanent loss of hearing, and given a metal hip. He forever walked with a limp from then on. For a few months he was homeless until the same neighbor that saved him offered to share a place with him. Since Tokyo had no use for farmers he had to look for work while also learning JSL and getting physical therapy. After bouncing around from job to job for 2 years, Chiba found himself back in school.

While trying to decide what to do he dabbled in science but ultimately fell in love with math. He got his Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics Education. Chi went on to teach part time as a substitute at Tokyo schools. After getting enough money he was able to afford hearing aids. Getting them engraved with his name and everything. The hearing aids made it possible for him to get a full time job to support his neighbor and himself. However; he found Tokyo to be too much for him. Missing that, smaller, island life. Chiba bid his neighbor goodbye and moved to Karakura. Where he applied at the school to continue his endeavors of being a math teacher and sharing his love of numbers with the children.
