Describe your activity on the server:
Initially, I joined SRP in October of 2020. Ever since then, although I've always preferred to keep a healthy balance with my activity, I've managed to maintain a consistent presence on the server, only really taking prolonged breaks once or twice, when IRL things such as college or work have called for me to do so. I enjoy writing and roleplay a lot. It's something that I was entirely new to upon joining, and a passion that I feel I would not have found were it not for SRP. I've always been interested in the writing side of Gang Roleplay. Be-it from my extensive time in the Akihito Clan, to this family's creation, I find my motivation is at it's highest when I'm working towards building something greater than just myself and my character, that I'm genuinely interested in from an Out-Of-Character standpoint. For me, that topic is Japan's Yakuza.
Though I haven't been involved in much over the years; Everything I've done on this server has had writing as the key priority. I prefer devoting myself to one select thing, rather than to enlist in multiple factions; And as of August 2024, with this family as my number one priority, I can confidently say that my activity is higher now, more-so than ever.

Specify one (1) idea for an event your gang would do:
Simply put; A charity gala, in which all funds would be donated to Shinsei Seinaru Monastery. While this may sound like a simple, legal, charity on the surface; The family has three distinct, under-lying motives for hosting such an event.
Firstly, by gathering various high-notoriety figures within Karakura's society, through the use of the family's vast network of connections, we are making a bold and public statement to our competition within the underworld. We are showing both our enemies, and the world, first-hand the sheer extent of our influence, wealth, and power, and that we are not afraid to leave the shadows every now-and-then, without resorting to direct threats.
Secondly, as a means to save face; Further bolstering the reputation of the Masahiko Family among the public. By inviting certain members of the news-team to the gala, we are ensuring that the public sees the extent of our generosity, and that it has a lasting impact. The family WILL hand over all proceeds from the event to the Mitsue-shiro, live, during the event, and we will ensure that it is seen by all attending.
And last-but-not-least, to put it simply; An expansion of business. Whether it's through personal talks amongst guests, statements to the press, sponsorships, or a public speech, the family can use the gala to our advantage, talking about the many businesses we have our hands in, subtly promoting each of them; Bringing in more customers and clientele then ever, while once again, showing just how large the Masahiko empire truly is.
While this may seem rather different from the usual events posted in these applications, I feel that something like this fits in with the narrative we are painting. The family is a Yakuza, and while that may not mean much in modern-day society, public image/relations is and always will be everything to us. Because of this, I tried to ensure that the event not only included the wider factions of the server, while also remaining true to something that you could see a Yakuza actually doing.

What is the name of your gang?:
The Masahiko Family
What are the themes/morals/beliefs/motives of your gang?:
Our family follows the century old Ninkyo code, that all Yakuza follow. Our code is mostly derived from my character’s time in The Akihito Clan, with certain tweaks that serving another clan entirely; Post-disbandment; Called for. Above all, members are expected to carry with them a firm sense of unwavering duty, respect among the ranks, and honor; Which ultimately includes reinforcing the age-old Yakuza motto of protecting the weak, and fighting the strong.
I didn’t want this fact to restrict characters from being characters. Writers whom’ are a part of this family are encouraged, from an Out-Of-Character perspective, to bend the law of the Yakuza to however their characters would act. As the writers of said characters, they are the ones that ultimately decide whether they go the hardened Yakuza route and follow the code to a T, or break it in order to bring in major cash, and in-turn, respect. The only thing that’s stressed on them is to know that if this behavior is found out through In-Character measures, then they will be severely punished. After all, the code is if anything, a dying way of life, and sometimes climbing the ranks requires sacrificing pieces of your morality.
What differs your gang from the rest of the unverified gang roster and other applicants?:
Although our member count may be a little lower than most, I went into this project with the main goal of building an accurate resemblance of Japanese Yakuza culture, where writers of all caliber could take part in Yakuza Roleplay. Countless months; Spanning well over a year now; Of writing and planning have gone into the creation of this organization, but I’m not naïve enough to admit that this came with a lot of challenges. Leading something like this is still very new to me, and in a lot of ways, I’m learning as I’m going; However, I am incredibly proud of each and every member we have for truly putting in effort to see this family come to fruition.
Secondly; We are a criminal organization, rather than a gang. I know this factor is often used a lot, but I’ve really tried to stress the difference the two hold with this project. I feel that this is evident in the numerous hours of writing and world-building that has gone into my rendition of the Dojin-Kai; The main-land Yakuza clan that The Masahiko Family ultimately belongs to. The clan has fully fleshed-out, written characters who continue to play major parts in direct relation to the family, that will never be played on SRP, simply to drive home the attention-to-detail and prioritization of realism that this family has. Things are constantly changing in the main-land. From successful business deals and internal betrayals, to tightening Anti-Yakuza laws, everything that affects the Dojin-Kai in writing, affects The Masahiko Family In-Character, and vice-versa. As much as I’d love to say that the ultimate lore of The family’s presence pre-Karakura is pages upon pages long, the truth is it isn’t. The family was devised this way for two reasons:
The first being so that whatever lore we do eventually end up with has ALL come through Roleplay. We’re not a Yakuza that began in Japan’s Edo Period. We’re one that was established in 2024. Having hours of pre-written lore would have completely contradicted this fact, and I hope that our roleplay and the care that I and everyone involved has poured into this project represents that, and makes up for the lack of said history. Members are joining right at the beginning of this family’s story, in terms of both In-Character and in-writing, and whether we stay a small-time, bottom-rung Yakuza family, constantly kicking up to a mainland clan, or ultimately flourish into a fully independent clan ourselves, entirely depends on the Roleplay and actions of those involved in this family.
The second reason I chose to fore-go mountains of lore was the simple fact that running a Yakuza family on any other character didn’t feel right to me. Masahiko Aki, the current reigning Kumicho and first family patriarch, has lived the majority of his life serving Yakuza family after Yakuza family. What began as him enlisting within Karakura’s branch of the Akihito Clan, just before the Kishi vs Akihito war, ended up as him seeing the clan to its closure. I only really found my interest in the Yakuza topic about a year or two into my time in Akihito, which was when I began to really focus on developing Masahiko as a Yakuza more than anything, and all the mental struggles that came with it. I truly do feel that this project has the potential to be one of the most accurate representations of a Yakuza family in SRP, and to do it on any character other than Masahiko, who has seen both the best and worst that the brutal world of the Yakuza has to offer, would’ve been a poor choice.
I think another aspect which makes us stand out from others is our heavy focus on progressive character development, for every member affiliated with the family. Titles and Irezumi (Tattoos) etc. are earned. They are not something that characters receive immediately upon swearing their oaths, or give to themselves. How far individuals rise in the world of the Yakuza is solely dependent on the actions of themselves, and how far they are willing to go for the family. Not only does this make the In-Character Yakuza culture far more rich and create for more rewarding role-play and world-building amongst the family; but it also highlights the importance of respect, dignity, and honour within our world, and shows outsiders the attention to detail and pain-staking effort we have all, as a collective, put into this.
Although it might not seem very far for most, we’ve gotten to where we are today off of nothing but our writing, and the actions of our characters. Out-Of-Character advertisement has never once crossed my mind, and although that has certainly made growing the family extremely tough, I think that that is one of the main things that sets us apart from many modern-day Gang Role-play groups. Although we still have a very long way to go; In my eyes, we have successfully turned a niche topic of Role-play into something that the entire server can enjoy; And a platform for others with similar interests; With nothing but dedication, care, and hard-work, both in terms of In-Character and Out-Of-Character, and so long as we can keep contributing to the world-building of SchoolRP with this family, un-verified or not; Then I am beyond happy.
What reputation does the gang uphold in-character at the moment? Where are they most actively present?:
The Masahiko Family, under all things, is a modern-day Yakuza. While reputation may have once been a key priority among the Yakuza, a new world has called for drastic changes. Gone are the lavish lives of flashiness, unending influence, expensive cars and clothes, and hundreds of millions of yen in the bank. We don’t pride ourselves on screaming our name to the masses, and right now, all that we are is a group of characters whom’ have no place in society, stuck in a dying way of life, clinging to any form of belonging that they can.
With that being said, however, the family is expanding. With more members comes more income, and with more income comes more opportunities for business, both legal and illegal. Almost everything in Karakura has some form of under-the-table ties to the Masahiko Family. From criminal alliances with delinquent gangs like 'Sinnerous'; To bolstering the Karakura churches' protests with fake and illegitimate members; Some things are more steeped in the shadows, while others are directly in the faces of those who dare to look just beneath the surface. We are always looking for ways for us to involve the wider-server in our activities in a way that doesn’t go against our new-found place in the shadows of society, and ALWAYS in a way that is fun, interesting, and unique for everyone involved.
Expansion also brings along competition, and with more eyes on the family than ever, tensions arise. While it hasn’t been our main focus, the family has clashed with certain gangs such as ‘Immertreu’, one of the only two current Unverified gangs. For a family of our size, I believe that this alone is a feat worth noting; And once more; It gives me nothing but pride for the individuals involved within this family. This fight is far from over, and I’m exponentially excited to see it to it's climax.

Write a paragraph describing your gang and showcasing what they are capable of:
The Masahiko Family is a Karakura-based Yakuza family, established in August of 2024, under the crest of Kumamoto and Central Fukuoka's Dojin-Kai clan. The story of the family began during the chaos following the natural death of the Dojin-Kai's eighth chairman, Moriocho Fukushima, which drenched the clan in a brutal internal power vacuum. During this period of violence and tension, Aki Masahiko, a Lieutenant of the Dojin-Kai's Matsuo family, along with the whole of the Matsuo family, played a key-role in aiding Okamoto Matsuo's rise to the Dojin-Kai throne. In recognition of such acts, various heavy hitters of the family were given the prestigious honour of founding their own family's under the Dojin-Kai banner; An honour Aki Masahiko had given the majority of his life to receive. Thus, The Masahiko Family was formed.
In essence, The Masahiko Family follows the century old Ninkyo code, that all Yakuza follow. Above all, members are expected to carry with them a firm sense of unwavering duty, respect among the ranks, and honor; Which ultimately includes reinforcing the age-old Yakuza motto of protecting the weak, and fighting the strong. In this family, money and fame comes to those who earn it. Pull your weight, and show initiative, and you will rise. While the era of the Yakuza is long gone, this family remains fighting for their place in a world that doesn't want them anymore.
