Born as María de la Karyme Pérez Quiñones in Granada, Nicaragua, she spent the first few years of her life with her single mother, a young woman struggling to stay afloat after escaping a toxic relationship with Kiki’s father. By the time Kiki turned three, her mother, despite her love for her daughter, made the heartbreaking decision to put her up for adoption, knowing she couldn’t provide the stability Kiki deserved.
After months in an orphanage, Kiki was adopted into the Kon family, a successful and predominantly female household in Japan. Her adoptive mother, Kyouka Kon, was a powerful businesswoman who owned multiple hotels and saunas across the country. Kyouka saw something familiar in Kiki, a physical resemblance so uncanny that it felt almost fated. Wanting to give her a fresh start, Kyouka renamed her before she could fully grasp her birth name, ensuring she wouldn’t have to wrestle with the weight of her origins until she was ready. However, in the background, Kyouka kept in touch with Kiki’s biological mother, helping her regain stability while keeping Kiki unaware of their connection until the time was right.
Growing up in Tokyo, Kiki thrived in creativity. She immersed herself in the digital world and various art forms, spending hours online and honing her skills in fashion and design. From ages five to fifteen, she dedicated herself to ballet, perfecting grace and discipline, though her true passion lay in crafting and tailoring. At school, she became known as the go-to student tailor, personalizing and repairing clothing for classmates whether it was embroidering initials onto backpacks or mending torn skirts. Her friendly and social nature made her well-liked, but her direct attitude and lack of awareness in social cues sometimes caught people off guard.
As Kyouka’s business demands grew, she found herself constantly traveling, leaving Kiki without the maternal presence she craved. Seeking a more stable home environment, Kiki made the bold choice to move from Tokyo to Karakura, where she would live with her aunt. There, she hopes to continue embracing her passions, forming new connections, and, perhaps, uncovering more about the parts of her past she never knew.
