Out-Of-Character Information

What is your Minecraft username?:

toxigenic

Do you have Discord (If so, what is your discord username?):

My username is caysvie
(no tag, due to the new update)

How old are you? (Optional):

17

What is your time zone?:

EEST (Eastern European Summer Time)

Describe your activity on the server:

My first time joining the server was in early 2018, and I was quite active on it, roleplaying with my friends and doing different things until I moved on to other hobbies. I returned to the server in around June of 2022, with another friend of mine and I fell in love with roleplay all over again. I took another break after school started in August of 2022, and returned to the server once more in January of 2023 and I’ve been playing consistently since. I have three active accounts, with different characters that I play on each of them. Two of them currently being students and one being in a faction. With the amount of roleplay opportunities I have, I can, and usually end up spending multiple hours a day on SRP.

Have you ever been banned (If yes, when and why?):

I have not! My record is clean, and I’m planning on keeping it that way.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you will be demoted?:

Yes, I do.

School Employee Role you are applying for?:

I am applying to become a receptionist!

In as much detail as possible, describe the employee role you are applying for:

Receptionists, they’re usually the first person you see when you walk into the school. They’re usually stationed at the Receptionists’ desk, which is sat right by the entrance to the school, and at the back entrance of the school. They have a job of keeping track of the students, which almost all school employees and faculty have in their job description - but their primary job is to answer any questions that students may have or to give them instructions on things that they’re confused about. They also hand out class schedules for the day, when needed.

Karakura High School and Community College is a fairly big place, and it’s definitely hard for a new student, or an old one to find their way around. This is where the receptionists come in! They have a job of instructing new students on where they’re meant to go, and to give them any information that they may need within the school. This is why it’s important that receptionists know the way around the school like the back of their hand, so as to not accidentally lead a student to the wrong place. Since the school is such a big place, with so many students - it would most likely fall into a state of chaos if not for the receptionists being there.

Receptionists, and front office workers in general also have the responsibility of handing out rewards for reward tokens! Reward tokens are a way of rewarding the students within the school for exceptional work in the classroom. Receptionists also need to be able to keep track of important dates, times and important papers.

What experience, in general, do you have in roleplay?:

I’d say I’m quite experienced when it comes to roleplay in general. My first ever experiences when it comes to roleplay, in general, was when I was fairly young and playing on creative servers. This was the first time I found out what roleplay was in general, and honestly; I fell in love with it. I fell in love with the concept of being able to make my own characters and being able to interact with other people through said characters. I’d consider it one of my main hobbies nowadays, and I’ve gone through very many different platforms roleplay-wise through my time. I’ve roleplayed within WhatsApp group chats, and on Minecraft. These have almost always been quite close to city roleplay or realistic roleplay, at least in my opinion.

As for my experiences on SRP, the first ever time I joined was sometime in 2018 and even though it took me some time to figure out how the server and the mechanics within the server work, after I had it all figured out; I enjoyed it more than anything. I loved roleplaying with my friends and making different relationships with my characters, and I still do. I’ve also been given the opportunity to participate in different types of roleplay within the server, one of my favourites so far being MedicalRP, or HospitalRP. My time as an EMS has given me a lot of experience when it comes to detailrp, and I find myself detailing things whenever possible at this point.

Why do you want to join the School Employee faction?:

During my time on the server, I’ve roleplayed in the school for most of it. I’ve also gotten to roleplay in the city, but never as an employee or a faculty member. The thought of being a part of the school faculty interests me and I’d like to take my shot at roleplaying as a school employee, instead of a student! The amount of roleplay situations there are available for an employee are immense, at least from what I’ve heard from friends and from what I’ve witnessed myself. The work of school employees and especially receptionists, interests me and I'd like to give my shot at joining this role!

Situations

During a work-shift a student starts cursing at you for being pathetic, how does your character react?:

It would be nothing new for Silas, he’s experienced students being angry at him but he recognizes that usually it doesn’t have to do with him specifically; but that the student has other things going on behind the scenes and they’re just taking out their anger on him. He also recognizes that this behaviour isn’t acceptable on school grounds. Silas isn’t the type to raise his voice, especially if he’s the one being cursed at.

“Okay, tone it down, please.”

His first warning would be casually and calmly telling the student to calm down, telling them to tone down on the cursing and yelling. His first approach to situations like these is to speak to them in a calm manner, hoping to get them to calm down even slightly.

“Cursing at me and calling me pathetic isn’t going to help your situation, now tone it down and lower your voice.”

As for his second warning, he takes a more stern approach in order to get the student to calm down.

“Like I said before, cursing at me will not help you in any form. Now stop with the profanity or I’ll be seeing you in detention.”

If they continued spewing profanity at him, he would go ahead and hand them a detention slip, ignoring their remarks past that point.

You notice two students are physically fighting in the hallway, – multiple punches have been thrown – how does your character react?:

Ah yes, school fights. Nothing out of the ordinary, especially for a school like Karakura High. Silas would not physically put himself in between them unless one of them had a clear advantage over the other. He would resort to trying to break it up verbally, hoping that his presence is enough to get them to stop even momentarily. Of course, he would radio for backup, if he was alone. Breaking up physical fights isn’t something a person can do alone.

He would make as much noise as he could to get their attention, clapping his hands together, whistling, anything. Usually these don’t work when it comes to physical fights, so he would most likely have to resort to yelling until his “back-up” arrives. Although, if he manages to get the fight broken up before they get there, he would hand out detention slips since fighting, especially physical fighting, is unacceptable in a school environment. (He would give out the detention slips either way.)

Another school employee is clearly acting inappropriately, doing something very dangerous on the job, how does your character react?:

His head and his thoughts would fill with concern for this employee, his co-worker. If their inappropriate acting involved a student, once he witnessed this or heard about it, he would instantly pull them aside and have a talk with them, explaining how they’re acting inappropriately and how they need to get a grip.

He would then go ahead and inform their department head, or even SLT as soon as he could about this instance. School employees are meant to set examples for students, and not behave inappropriately, especially not on the job.

When in the employee break room, how does your character act?

Silas would do his best to make conversation with the people around him! Everyone that has access to the employee break room, is pretty much in the same situation that he’s in. They’re all employees at the same school, sharing a workplace. He sees that as a type of way to… bond. He’s new to Karakura, having only lived in Osaka so far, and he’s willing to take any relationships (platonic or not) that he can get.

The break room is designed for the employees to be able to do that, take a break. Silas is quite a big fan of tea, his favourite one being black tea (and also being the only type he likes), he’s very likely to make himself a cup of tea whilst he’s in the break room. He does also have those days when he isn’t feeling all that up for being social, when he wants to be by himself more, and those are the days where you’ll see him spend more time in the break room, reading a book or maybe even making some food for himself or the others. He sees cooking as a type of comfort or a distraction.

Provide us with at least three detailed /me's of your character whilst on your chosen role:

/me hummed to a song which was stuck in his head as he opened the lowest drawer in the file cabinet, going through the files sitting within, having been given the task of reorganising them. He moved the files one by one next to him, into a basket. His humming turned into quiet singing as he organised them in alphabetical order - “No, I don’t want no scrub…” He continued organising the files, making sure that they were organised starting from an A to a Z. “A scrub is a guy that can’t get no love from me…” He swept his hands together as he moved the basket aside and closed the cabinet once more.

/me huffed as he tried to catch his breath, having ran as quickly as he could to his workplace. Damn alarms, never working like they’re supposed to. He lifted his bag off of his shoulder, placing it up onto the clothing rack. He rolled his shoulder a few times as he walked up to his seat, picking up the newspaper for the day as he did. He dragged the chair back, taking a seat onto it and pushing himself, and the chair forward toward the receptionists’ desk, ready for the upcoming day. He went through the newspaper of the day, reading it, before he perked up, turning his head up at what seemed to be the speed of light at the sound of someone calling his name. “Oh! Good morning! How can I help you today?”

/me took the papers, one by one, stacking them on top of each other carefully and slowly. He then turned the paper pile upright, tapping it a few times onto the desk to make the pile a bit more… pretty. As he was walking to the file cabinet to place the papers within, he turned his head, seeing a student having showed up at the desk. He quickly placed the papers down, making sure not to mess up his pile and walked back over to the front of the desk. “Hiya, how can I help you?”

/me sighed a sigh of relief as the bell rang, his workday was finally over. Silas got up from his chair, stretching his arms out as he let out a small groan, and walked over to the clothing rack where he had left his bag earlier, slipping the bag over his head and fixing the strap onto his shoulder. He raised his voice slightly, “Have a great rest of your day, everyone!” and then proceeded to open the door, slipping out from a small crack in it. He stood next to the door for a good minute or so, thinking of what he was going to do now… He decided on making one last round around the first floor of the school, making sure to tell any lingering students to go home.

Backstory

(I’m going to keep most of his backstory vague so as to give myself the ability to reveal his backstory through roleplay!)

Seishiro Iwamoto, also known as Silas Iwamoto - born on the 19th of June 1997 at 11:30 PM. He was born in the Sibley Memorial Hospital, in Washington D.C., the city where he grew up, as well.

His father was a Japanese immigrant, his mother was an American; he never found out about his mother’s heritage, she didn’t exactly speak about it all too much, all he ever knew was that she was adopted in her childhood. When Silas was born, his parents wanted to give him two separate names. One, as a homage to his father’s Japanese heritage and culture, “Seishiro” and the other for him to use in his everyday life; “Silas”. His legal name was, and still is Seishiro.

Silas, unfortunately, suffered, and still suffers from quite many health problems, those beginning at his birth. He was in and out of the hospital, going from doctor to doctor for all of the different ailments that came up for him during his younger years. His medical issues back in the United States racked up to quite the hefty amount, to say the least. All of these problems also stunted his social development and social growth, since he was forced to skip out on so much of his time in school due to all of his hospital visits. He didn’t have any siblings for the longest time, either, so his only social connections were his parents, and his other family members; whenever they visited.

The boy was an extrovert, he absolutely loved being around people and this fact disheartened him, a lot. He felt sad whenever he went back to school after another extended sick leave, and he realised that everyone had their friends but nobody knew anything about him or socialised with him. And honestly, he didn’t know how to make friends either; causing him to sit at the edge of the playground, or simply to sit by the doors to the school during recess - thinking by himself.

When he wasn’t thinking by himself, he was speaking to the employees within his school. He was chatting to the janitors, to the teenaged teacher’s assistants, sometimes even to the other teachers that were supervising the recess. Young Silas thought their work was so cool, something he wanted to do when he grew up, and this motivation didn’t go anywhere. The employees even helped him make some friends within his school, helping the boy to come out of his shell and to be more social. Even to this day, he’s grateful to them, even if he isn’t able to tell them himself. His childhood experiences caused him to pursue a career within the school himself, as a teacher or in another role.

. . .

Around a decade later, Silas had gotten his diploma from High School and was ready to start the next chapter of his life. Unfortunately, during his first try, he didn’t get accepted into any programs he applied for, and honestly; he didn’t even know what he was going to study. Both of these factors made him decide to take a gap year, working for that year instead. He got a job working as a teacher’s aide at a middle school, this year helped him decide what he wanted to study and what he wanted to do for work in the future. The year went by as quickly as it came and he enrolled into College, into a Pedagogy program and moved away from home for the first time.

Years went by, he was now 25 and an official College graduate with a Master’s degree in Pedagogy. He wasn’t sure on what he was going to do now - so he decided to move away from home again, moving to his father’s home country; Japan. He got a job working as a receptionist for a University, which not only helped him in improving his Japanese, but also gave him experience within that field.

Motivation for Joining KHS:

“I graduated College about a year ago. Ever since then, I’ve managed to move out of my home country. It's a pretty big step out of my comfort zone, but I’d say I’m doing fairly well so far. My motivation for joining KHS is that it seems like a great place to work at, and since the school is so big, I feel like it would give me more experience working in bigger school environments. Of course, I’ve worked in bigger schools before, but not in a school as big as the one Karakura has. The reason for me leaving my past job, as well, was due to the work environment being fairly toxic and that school not being a place I wanted to be in."

Do you have any previous experience working in a school environment? If so, please elaborate (If not, respond with "N/A"):

“Yes, I do. Most of my work experience comes from working in school environments, actually. I worked as a tutor for kids younger than me when I was in high school myself, I’m not sure if that counts, though. Either way… After I had graduated, I took a gap year between being a high school graduate, and carrying on to college. That was when I got the opportunity of working as a teaching assistant for a local middle school. The school was fairly small, so I probably did more work than was listed in the job description but other than that, I quite enjoyed the position and I enjoyed working within the school.

-After that, I moved out and went off to college. This wasn’t exactly an official position, and I didn’t get paid for it, but one of my professors always gave me the responsibility of checking attendance and handing out papers whenever he was hungover and couldn’t make it to the class… What a guy. Of course, my experience isn’t limited to that.

-And then after I completed my Bachelor’s Degree, I made the big decision of moving to my father’s home country, that being Japan! Most of my experience working in schools comes from the United States, which is vastly different from the Japanese schools but I worked as a receptionist for a University here in Japan for around 6 months, having handed in my resignation around a month ago.”

Why should you be accepted over the other applicants?:

“I have quite the experience when it comes to school environments and working with students, having worked as a teacher’s aide and having worked as a school receptionist in the past. I’m great with people, and I like to think I’m great with students as well, which is why I believe I’d be perfect for this position.”
