unable to destroy wall in house

ISSUE:unable to destroy blocks next to stairs
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: So I noticed how I wasn't able to destroy the wall next to my stairs to create a room for storage etc like other houses have but I noticed im not able to destroy the blocks, so I went to look at another persons house to see if they have the same issue and they don't the area for their stairs isn't there they can destroy them. So could the wall of blocks next to my stairs be destroyed please. Here below are photos for a reference
