Create a folklore tale based on an existing area in Karakura of your choosing; Tell us a story! Show us how creative you can get.

What now exists as a pinnacle of an old, almost exfoliating mountain for bears to hide in, was long ago, a place of worship for many people of the Shinto faith. Way before Karakura was even identified as a town, a place of worship was foreseen by a very caring and extremely loving shepherd.

He lived in a tiny, small hut beside the village's walls, where he would light a fire at night, sitting on a log with a broom by his side. By word of mouth, people living in the homely area had seen that the shepherd would travel up the mountain each night to talk to someone of potential authority. People were intrigued about this man because they would spy on the shepherd every day and each day that the old, wrinkly man would climb up with his sheep, the quantity of his flock would increase by a mere two or three sheep each day. Many questioned the man, asking things along the lines of “How is this happening?”. The man responded. Oh yes, he did, with one simple noun. “God”, he said. It didn’t help the people much, because many theories were made and it left many questions unanswered.

At once, a fearsome young boy decided to sneak up the mountain with the elder one day, without his parents’ acknowledgment, seeing what only the sheep-herder had seen until now. A floating wisp of what seemed to be made of a woolly material, floated gracefully as it whispered eerily to the man. The boy couldn't understand the language that it was using, it seemed like gibberish to him. As the boy tried to escape after obtaining such interesting information, the wisp successfully began sucking this twig-like boy into nothingness. The shepherd intervened before it got any worse and he ended up saving the boy's life, by sacrificing himself for the future of the island.

After many countless days passed, many civilians had forgotten about the boy, until something about a ghost being spotted near the mountains was reported to the people of the town. Nobody believed the rumor to be true until they witnessed it before their very eyes, as a ghost would be heard knocking at the doors of the village, in an attempt to keep the people up at night so that they would be led towards the wisp of wool, but it never got the people to leave their homes. Nobody had an idea of what was waiting out there for them. A pack of wolves, maybe? Poisonous snakes? People of the undead? Who knows.

The story of the boy and the shepherd has been passed down by the Karakuran folk by mouth, and so it has never been something shared internationally. The story was passed on via the sociable ancestors of the Shinsei Seinaru Monastery maidens and priests, which still makes the mountain-top a scary place to visit. A place, left forever in the dark, with a mystery that is too old to be unfolded.
