The Surname of O.- Stands for O'Brien which is a common Irish surname, But Yarla didn't like it and prefers the surname Zen- Which stands for peace and purity, It also is for the memory of her older sister Zena.

O'Brien Zen Fam-
She has a sister, Oce O. Zen, and three cousins which she adopted as their parents passed so she took them both under her wing and does her best to provide for them!

Yarla was born in Ireland and when she was born with Congenital amputation which meant she was born to be carried around. Her parents thought it was a good idea to leave her legless hoping that some angel will come down giving her her missing leg. She was bought up by a very catholic family. After a couple years of crawling and carrying her parents realized enough was enough and they had to invest in some form of transport for her as they were sick or Babying her, so they bought her a cheap rusty wheelchair- Even though they knew really shes need a Prosthetic leg.
She was sent to a nunnery but didn't like it there at all. She never got to be creative and was stuck with doing RE, And maths- so one day she ran away taking - her parents hated her for this almost to the point they wanted to disown her- But decided to keep her around as she cam in handy looking after her younger sister Oce- When Oce was born Yarla was certain that art is what she wanted to do so in between the babysitting shifts and the countless hours of church and community service she spent her time painting and drawing.
Throughout her childhood being the older child Yarla felt responsible to look after Oce unlike her parents did. They all lived in a tiny small home in the middle of a field right next to the church where her family spent there time cutting all the brambles and keeping the church in good condition making sure the stained glass windows were never chipped and the book where never dusty. She also grew up with no technology and her parents didn't enjoy her socializing so Yarla spent most of her time doing work rather than what she enjoyed.
Yarla was finally allowed to get a job that went towards Church fees But she put a little aside to help get herself a prosthetic leg. At the age of 21 Yarla decided she should really get a full-time job a realized the only thing she is really good at is Art so traveled to England to get a university degree in art to hope to one day she would return to Ireland and teach there. For the 2 years she spent there she meant some fo her closet friends, she finally completed the degree and returned to Ireland in which she taught college students art for 5 years!
When Oce was old enough she decided she needed change and to leave Ireland so without her arents permission she left to Karakura- But later on, realized she needed the family support, She begged Yarla to come and work and live in Karakura promising a better life here, So she decided to leave Ireland and leave her parents and getting a job as a College Professor in Karakura- She never looks back on this decision now with her fake leg and full on positive attitude she looks forward to the future! <3
