I was originally left-handed. I lived in an Islamic country (correction, still do) and therefore was encouraged to learn to use my right hand as the basic standard. This pushed me to eventually be able to write, eat, so on and so forth with both hands without trouble. So, technically, ambidextrous. :nerd:

Right Handed - possibly Left Handed?

I'm old enough to remember when left-handedness was still considered a sign of bad morals. Being right-handed was seen as "clean" and "correct," while the left hand was thought to be "unclean" or "wrong." You'd only use it for things like wiping your butt or other less important tasks.

It wasn’t practical to be left-handed either, since scissors, pens, and musical instruments were mostly designed for right-handed people. It was considered easier to train left-handedness away rather than adjust the tools or infrastructure to accommodate it.

Left-handedness was also seen as a kind of mental disorder with doctors believing it was linked to motor or cognitive deficits. Teachers often preached that left-handed students performed worse in school. Left-handers were sometimes seen as "rebellious" or "stubborn" because they resisted efforts to retrain them to use their right hand. (duh!)

TL;DR: Being left-handed was stigmatized as a form of retardation until the 1990s.

43-43 is an interesting ratio currently (sample group is still quite small so this statement doesn't mean much), considering the world population is usually 85-15 r/l. however if the ratio stays the same as the sample group increases maybe it has something to do with the fact that some of us here (probably more than a typical sample group) are autistic or neurodivergent. ^_^

edit* i forgot to add any reference to any of the studies that either link the gene TUBB4B towards autism and left handedness or any of the studies that link the difference in brain structure of people with autism and left handedness,,, that usually autistic people carry a 2.5 times higher chance of being left handed LOL
so there's generally the line of thought that there is a slight-moderate link

I find it so weird and fascinating that people struggle to use the other hand to write, eat, etc. Like how weird is that... Never thought about it before- Anyway I am right handed but now I am getting fomo from all of the left handed people here.

I don't mind sharing this, I am ambidextrous. For those who do not know what that means, I can use both of my hands. I prefer my right as it is what I grew up using most, but if I need to rest from writing or drawing, I can switch to my left with nearly no issues.
