Letters were spread around Karakura by people wearing flashy red jackets with the signature, golden Valiant Ouroboros on its back. Under the doors of homes, on the streets, and taped on lampposts.You picked one up, opened it and started reading.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT REGARDING RECENT DEVELOPMENTS
The Valiant Karakurist Party, the main opposition party in Karakura, has been informed of the recent letters distributed by an unrecognized entity as well as the so-called "execution papers" attacking the honor and dignity of our allies in our coalition. I, Chairman Oktay, using my powers entrusted to me through the will of our members, issue this statement on these developments because not only has our collective been dragged into this debacle, but so has my own name.
When we first raised our concerns regarding the Itsbyoshi Council/Court in past issues of Papier du Demos, our claims regarding the Old Guard’s existence to this day were opposed and gainsaid by the Honorable Mei Miura and Katsuhito Saiky-Akihito, the current mayor. Now that our rightful suspicions turn out to be correct, we expect an apology separately from both parties, whether through a private or public medium, for violating the trust we placed in their word as we saw them as men of merit. We must clarify that we do not put any blame more than necessary on the Honorable Mei Miura and will give him the benefit of the doubt, as he for the most part operates on publicly available historical documentation. Effective upon the publication of this statement, let it be known to the public that the erasure of the privileges of the Old Guard shall become a permanent article, irrevocable until accomplished in the official VKP Charter.
Time and time again, the Itsbyoshi Council/Court has made horrid decisions regarding whom they wish to plant as the public face of their power. We would like to call into question whether this unrecognized "decision-making" body is comprised of people of merit, rather than relying on a self-proclaimed, self-righteous source of power, that being divine right (jure divino). Their inadequacy to be a trustworthy institution has been proven throughout history, primarily with Tetsuya Otori and secondarily with Katsuhito Saiky-Akihito, their “Son” of Karakura. We realized long ago that their son’s aristocratic, dynastic, grandiose blood had spoiled so to say, clearly foreshadowed by his actions during his time as a judge.
It is an individual’s responsibility to know the law; no one may claim their ignorance as a defense for their crimes. The same principle, ignorantia juris non excusat in Latin, applies here. We documented and exposed what was already clear as day, warning the public, which includes the Itsbyoshi Council/Court, long before this Mayor even had the power to enact the unconstitutional measures happening today. If these charlatans de facto possess the power to enact change and have the duty of protecting the people as they claim, they would have exercised it long ago. We find them guilty of willful ignorance and treason.
In the third paragraph of your letter, you referred to us as “...individuals who stand against the Itsbyoshi...” State who we are clearly and without cowardice: we are the Valiant Karakurists. We are the proud, enlightened Young Valiants. We are the friends of liberty and justice. Even though most of us are not Karakurans by birth, or even Japanese citizens, we have accomplished so much more on such short notice, a matter of just four months, than you have in centuries. Given your inaction, we ask the reader:
Who is the true Karakuran?
Is it those who have been ruling Karakura for centuries, publicly or behind closed doors, who have repeatedly ignored the pleas of its people and did nothing when action was most necessary? Or is it the majority student collective who have been doing everything in their power to educate the public and fix the system while peacefully abiding by the rule of law in contrast to their violent, criminal predecessors? The conclusion is obvious.
You, the self-proclaimed humble public servants of Karakura whose titles and occupations are anything but humble, are in no position to take any disrespectful, treacherous actions against the valiant efforts of the Koji family, who are merely cleaning up after your mess. If anything, they possess the ultimate right to exclude you from your own courts. You claim the Mayor is loyal to his society, which is correct: he is only loyal to his society, not to the nations of Karakura under his rule. We agree with your statement that Bao Koji has not been loyal to that society. May he be rewarded with all the blessings of his faith for such valiance. You, the Itsbyoshi, have failed in your duty to protect the people; this island has had enough of empty promises justified by divine right. The time has come for Karakura to break free from your dogma and your scholasticism. We secular realists have cast aside our religious views, speaking only of the rights of mankind as proven through an academic lens. We expect the same level of modernity and contemporaneity from you.
We agree that Karakura’s culture is defined by its people and their aspirations, not by the disappointing lineage of oppression you and your ancestors have built. You, the Itsbyoshi, have failed your duties and failed the very people you claim as your own. This is the second and final time we will issue this warning, to give you one last benefit of the doubt: Repent.
Signed;
Elgin Oktay, Chairman of the Valiant Karakurist Party
