- Backstory -

Childhood
(0-10)

Born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, Suika was the second child of Joji and Setsuko Piero and lived on a watermelon farm with her family. Her big brother, Daichi, mostly took care of her while her parents managed over the family business, which caused her to grow a close bond with him. Once her younger siblings were born, she took her role as big sister very seriously, caring for them like Daichi did for her. Unbeknownst to Suika though, Daichi had a lot of pressure put on him as the heir to the family business. This was the main reason he slowly distanced himself from her and their siblings, which hurt their relationship badly. Suika then started to notice how much the adults favored Daichi over her and the other kids, which angered her greatly.

She took her anger out through punching and destroying stuff, which scared her siblings when they witnessed her destroying her entire room. Daichi caught wind of this, and helped her find a new outlet for her anger through swimming and meditating near water. Their relationship wasn't how it used to be, but this is one of her favorite memories of her older brother. When Suika was nine, she gained a heavy fever from overworking herself which resulted in her being bedridden. Towards the end of her sickness, one night, she woke up to Daichi roaming the hallways of their home. She left her bed only to see him with a packed bag, opening the door to their backyard. Suika was still too weak to do anything but shakily reach her hand out to him, only for him to turn to her and apologize softly before running away into the night. This was the last time she ever saw her big brother, and the day afterward marked the first day of her becoming the new heir to the Piero family business.

After recovering from her illness, she was immediately taken away from her siblings to learn the ropes of the business. Even during this, Suika was still not allowed to leave anywhere without family supervision. This meant that she never made close relationships with anyone outside the family, her only social skills coming from professional meetings, and her siblings. However, her siblings were assigned a caretaker while she left on business trips with her parents and grandparents to oversee business, so she didn't see them as often as she'd wanted to. Her grandparents were quite cold to her once they fully accepted that Daichi was not coming home, and this caused her to slowly close off from her entire family.

Her parents seemed desperate for her to be perfect, which made her realize that they never truly cared for her as a daughter, but as a business opportunity, which broke Suikas heart immensely. Around this time is when she started to shut down her negative emotions and put on a facade, as it was easier for Suika to pretend that her life was okay then to acknowledge how messed up her family was.

She went to live with her aunt while she was ten, learning about her side of the business. This is when she first discovered the horrors of her family business, finally realizing it wasn't all about fruit farms. Her family had another business hidden underneath the farms, a business that her aunt specialized in. Suika doesn't fully remember her time with Aunt Kabocha, the trauma being firmly locked away in her mind. All she remembers was the voices in the walls.

Before Karakura (11-12)

Suika gained a bunch of independence once she turned 11, finally allowed to leave the house without supervision. She was pretty closed off at this point though, so she never bothered to interact much with others. Around this time, her hair fully turned white from all the stress and trauma and in an act of rebellion against her parents, she dyed her hair bright red. Seeing her family horrified but her siblings thrilled with her bold choice, Suika started to fall in love with bright colors. After this, she reconnected with her younger siblings, still going on business trips but constantly checking in with them to make sure they're okay.

One day, the caretaker for her siblings informed her about a carnival that arrived recently that her siblings were insisting on bringing her to. She agreed to go and for the first time in years, she felt like a child again! She'll never forget the absolute joy she had with her little siblings while on the Carousel, it's another one of her favorite memories. This was where she first discovered the concept of carnivals and the circus, and so Suika became obsessed with clowns. She donned a clown nose to entertain her siblings and started to get louder to the anger of her grandparents. Suika never felt more free in her entire life.

When she turned 12, her siblings gifted her a pair of sunglasses, noticing her disdain for her own eyes. She loved their thoughtful gift and rarely took the sunglasses off, becoming angry if anyone tried to take them off for her. Suika started to notice the cracks in the family business around this time. The family getting more money than usual for a regular farm, certain papers going missing, and important documents with names she's never heard of disappearing before she gets the chance to read them. Seeing how panicked her parents were becoming from her questions about these details caused her to start snooping around the house for anything. One day, Suika managed to find an important paper detailing the underground business. But for the first time ever since she left her Aunt Kabocha, the voices in the walls started to yell, and so she blocked out everything from that day as she wasn't ready to confront those memories yet.

Her grandparents, fed up with her acts of rebellion, decided to send her away to a city so she could hopefully mature and come back as a professional heir to the family business. Suika was then sent to Kamakura City, an interesting city that so far has distracted her from her past, and has helped her find a group of people who care for her.

- Current Story line -

Life in Kamakura City (13-17)

Kamakura City was a unusual journey for Suika, not used to any of the customs in the area. Transferring to Kamakura High, Suika didn't have any friends and didn't know where to go so she wandered around until she found the cafeteria. Here she saw two boys sitting together, and wandered up to them, deciding that she needed connections fast if she wanted to survive in this city. This is where she befriended her closest buddies, Minoru Alois Laurent and Yutaka Tanaka. She was happy to form new friendships and followed them around as she grew used to Kamakura. However, even in this new city, her parents still needed her for business trips. So she unfortunately moved back and forth a lot during her early years at Kamakura City. During one of the longest trips she has taken to date, she managed to dye her hair after the red faded out, and put polka dots in for a new look.

After this long business trip, she finally came back to Kamakura after a year, and just in time for the Winter Formal dance. Here, she reconnected with Minoru and Yuta and met some of their new friends that they made over the years. She bonded with their new friend, Sakiya, and wonders what new adventures wait for them in the future after a eventful Winter Formal dance. Over the years, Suika discovered the beach and started to swim again to her excitement, and she managed to find a place to call home (for now).

Suika has made more friendships (more like rivals but she doesn't mind) over the years and is generally excited to see where life takes her from here. After all, it makes for an exciting letter for her siblings to read!
