New Sports Team Suggestion.

Tennis Team, perhaps?​

I know there's already so many sports team to choose from but I'm surprised we don't have a racket sports team. I don't know if this has ever been suggested or if it was ever a thing in the first place, but I really would love to see a racket sport- specifically a tennis team being a thing.

But all-mighty good-looking solorize, wouldn't this be useless since we already have volleyball and tennis is basically just volleyball with rackets?

Yes and no. There's actually a significant amount of difference. First being the obvious racket and smaller ball, along with the nets being lower than volleyball and badminton nets. The second being the number of players on the court. Tennis only requires 2 players, one on each side (singles) or four players, two on each side (doubles.). And third is the attire. Tennis players typically dress more "preppy", their outfits might look a little fancier than the other school sports team.

Yes, there are many similarities. But in all honesty, I just think this would be fun for roleplay. There's no real 'benefit' in making this a thing, other than providing more roleplay for characters/players who would be interested in racket sports. I mean, tennis is stereotypically played by 'prep' or 'rich' people, so maybe those types of characters can get together as tennis players (definitely not a serious suggestion.). And tennis is a quite popular sport in Japan, so it makes sense for KHS or the new map (if it's still set in Japan) to consider having a tennis team.

I guess the only problem with this is making whole new plug-in and location for the courts but hopefully, we can get this in the new map(?)

I just would like to agree with this trust me. Then again this actually would use the same exact plugin as volleyball. Yes it would be great to have a new sport. Yes tennis and volleyball are different sports but when it comes down to the actual mechanics of making it happen in game, all you have to do is lower the net and get a custom racket if it’s even necessary. I personally would like to have golf as a sport though it may require a lot more landscape and space for there to be many holes. They mainly avoided adding more sports seeing as current sports teams are struggling to be consistent with their players and some having to host more than one tryouts per month just for that reasoning. I think it would be nice to have a better new sport but we already have struggling sports teams and that’s just about enough I would say.

Honestly, the idea of a Tennis team is excellent as it is, though it will simply be a repeat of less successful teams. I don't think SRP can handle more repetitive tryouts, and there are plenty of teams always with open spots to the point where we just don't need new ones. Great idea and concept, realistic, too; but I doubt it will work well.. Agreed with the post above.

Fair tbh. I didn't really expect this idea to really go anywhere for the same exact reasons; there's already way too much teams and clubs. But again, IF they decide to replace a sports team and change things up in the new map or whatever, I think it's a pretty cool idea. Or even just a tennis plug in could be cool, but even this i doubt will even be put into consideration. For a fair reason ofc.

And also I just posted this because I thought it was a fun concept, I'm not sure the execution of this being a thing would be too good if im being honest.

I honestly think baseball should be removed by now. If dodgeball was removed for being in decline then I think baseball should be too. The baseball field by itself is taking up a lot of space in the school that could be utilized for much better things

Additional note: Start a tennis club! Just have it be completely roleplay-based, though I think it'd only be popular with die-hard roleplayers and events would be hard.

Cut down all the teams except football and cheer and let the people vote what sports they actually want instead of listening to one person wishes. Make a universal showcase of what the plugin for the sport could be like and have people vote based on the concept and mechanics of the sport.

If that did occur, volleyball would have to stay as well. I'm a part of the football team myself, but volleyball is way too popular to be removed as a team sport.

Yep and teams aren’t in high demand. The current ones are in need of help to stay afloat but it’s not their fault. They chose some sports that people as a whole community didnt really decide on

baseball needs tlc. shouldn't be removed because it's already a quite popular sport in japan, plugin is really good because it's different from the rest but choice in choice in team division seriously needs to be added. isn't like any other sports and could seriously get hype and give opportunity for super epic games considering the pitch. just needs a couple changes and MMM god i would love to play with assigned teams and such- understandably the new map is a priority focus but.. man. please.

obviously people already gave a ton of good reasons as to why tennis probably isn't a good idea so I'm not going to repeat what's already been said but especially regarding teams as of current, adding more with the playerbase we do currently have isn't worth it. rping out tennis would be kind of cool!! table tennis could be a definite thing, perhaps played like bowling with the /roll system somehow (ex: 2 people rolling over the 'table' and going back and forth until one fails to roll a number higher than the last number)

at the current time, another team isn't needed due to the current teams needing some of that good TLC. We should be focusing more on getting teams active along with figuring out ways to make being on a team more fun before adding more plugins or teams and this is coming from someone that made a tennis team suggestion when I first joined the server. @Demurity made an amazing suggestion on making teams more active (not to boast my girl or anything lol)

Other teams are barely holding on as it is, adding a new one would simply be high maintenance and bring more negatives rather than positives

I don't like the idea of this, reason being a lot of people enjoy basketball as well. Even if they don't do serious games all the time, people tend to go to the courts rather it be at the park or in the school and just shoot around a bit. Basketball games and the teams are all very fun, as well. (Minus the college female team for being in decline, for whatever reason.) So, that leaves you with volleyball, chear, basketball, and football. All you'd really be doing is subtracting baseball from the equation.

I think a club would be a fabulous idea for those who are interested in tennis! Due to the sole reason of there being quite a few teams and I don't think that many people would be passionate about a tennis team.

Overall a very nice suggestion, however like mostly said above we should try and focus on getting the current teams stabilized, depending on how this suggestion goes if it gets denied I SUGGEST making a Tennis Club with no plugin at first until all the other teams are sorted but another note about that is, there’s a high chance no other sport will be added as there are very many teams currently within SchoolRP which include the following of if you are curious.

That’s a lot of people, so I don’t think it’ll be added even though it’s a really cool fun idea, however addition to that they had a dodgeball team at one point which was also removed. So in short if you want a “Tennis Team” and this suggestion doesn’t get accepted I suggest you try making it a club if you are really interested in creating it! Good luck!

As stated in the replies, we currently have enough sports teams (Twenty total) and most of which require some attention before even considering new ones - You may wish to look into starting your own club when applications are open in the future. Nevertheless, thank you for taking the time to create a feedback thread.
