Personality
═════♡═════
Kasai tends be a friendly and comforting
person, despite his rude demeanour. Towards his friends he is often insulting, although he tries to sound sarcastic when doing so to avoid unneccessary backlash. When on his own with strangers, he is a shy person, trying not to aggravate those around him and to respect them. This often gets him into weird situations - however he tries not to escalate them due to his hatred of confrontation. With his friends and strangers, he makes unnecessary jokes, and wants to make sure his friends are safe. Kasai is very overprotective of his friends and family, and says a lot of empty threats to people that try or are hurting them. Kasai tries to act tough, but is very unprepared to go through with most of his threats (as mentioned earlier).
Academics:
Academically, Kasai tends to struggle with paying attention in class. He’s not the brightest of students due to not wanting to attend classes unless with friends. As a result of this, Kasai ends up spending some of his free time studying. He doesn’t have a preferred subject in school.
Hobbies:
Drawing:
Kasai is not talented when it comes to drawing, being downright average, however he enjoys drawing landscapes and nature. He only does this when he is alone.
Reading:
Kasai isn’t a ‘bookworm’, however he does enjoy reading! Particularly books in Russian, it also helps him keep on top of his Russian - but he mainly does it for entertainment. He only does this when he is alone.
Phobias:
Mild Claustrophobia:
(Fear of enclosed spaces)
Kasai can handle being in enclosed spaces when it is only him, actually enjoying a “cosy” room, however Kasai enjoys his personal space, meaning when in a smaller room with people, he tends to get nervous, and quite aggressive without reasoning.
Thalassophobia:
(Fear of the ocean)
Kasai really dislikes the ocean, alongside the fear of drowning. This fear doesn’t stem from anything, and he isn’t particularly affected by other large masses of water, like ponds. This doesn’t stop him from going to the beach, however going in the water makes him stressed and scared.
Disorders/Illnesses/Syndromes:
Restless Leg Syndrome:
Kasai was diagnosed with restless leg syndrome when he was only 13. He couldn’t sleep at night due to have a horrible feeling, normally in his left leg. He prevents this by tending to be standing up most the time, allowing himself to move his leg freely.
Quirks:
- Widow’s peak (mentioned earlier)
- Right Hitchhikers thumb (able to bend his thumb slightly backwards)
Dislikes:
- Lack of personal space
- The ocean
- Confrontation
- Large crowds of unknown people

Backstory
═════♡═════
Kasai Aoki, born on April 1st, 2003 at 00:04am in Tyumen, Russia, was born in his childhood home. Although born and raised in Russia, Kasai’s name was fully Japanese, including his last name. This is because his father was born in Karakura, and he would visit there a few times before ultimately moving there. This made him quite an outlier, as all of the relatives on his mother’s side were Russian - all born and raised in Tyumen like himself.
During his first years of ‘unconsciousness’, Kasai was told by his mother that he was overall needy for her attention - even for a baby. He wasn’t comfortable leaving hid mother sight for the first year of his life, and even later on he still wanted to always be by his side. This could be the stem for his overprotectiveness and reliance on his friends now. One of Kasai’s first memories ever is of him and his older sister, Fumi, playing at the Karakura beach - the first time he had ever visited the place he would ultimately grow up to live. However, only being 3 years old at the time, Kasai didn’t have any other memories of Karakura until his next visit.
Kasai’s unhealthy reliance of his mother was still a large problem to him when he was to start preschool, causing him to spend many days unwilling to go to school. Although his mother wasn’t too upset about this and was overall understanding about it, she still wanted him to go to school more often than he did at the time. At this time in his life, his father was working in Japan, as a shop owner in Tokyo - meaning Kasai only saw him for a week every month.
When Kasai was 7 years old, this was when his father quit his job in Tokyo. He moved back to Russia to spend more time with Kasai and his mother. Although, only a few months after that, Kasai visited Karakura for the first proper time. He stayed there for a month, meeting his Grandparents, before they died only 1 year later, and his aunt and uncle. This trip really made him realise how beautiful Japan was, and his interest in the country - particular Karakura.
When Kasai was back in Russia, he had managed to have more independence - not needing to rely on his mother for basic, day-to-day actions anymore. Kasai matured a bit quicker than other kids, starting to self-teach himself Japanese by the age of 8. Although this process of learning to years to master, Kasai is grateful that he started so early in his life.
At the age of 11, Kasai’s parents went through quite a rough patch, arguing frequently and worrying Kasai. Although not too bad, Kasai started to his his father from this point from the way he talked to his mother. At this point, he was quite fluent in Japanese, although still learning from this point on. Kasai was diagnosed with ‘Restless leg syndrome’ at this age, however, other than some restless nights, it didn’t bother Kasai too much.
At 13 years old, Kasai revisited Karakura with his parents, having now finally learnt Japanese and using it to impress his relatives. This visit in Karakura didn’t last too long, due to Kaito, Kasai’s Identical twin, to start to feel homesick. However, this was still Kasai’s favourite visit to Karakura as he was able to communicate with his family so fluently.
At the age of 15, Kasai went through one of the lowest points in his life. Kasai walked into his room to see Kaito… well- Dead, alongside a large collection of pills. The loss of his brother meant a lot to him, as he was the person who he actually talked to most - due to being the same age and sharing similar hobbies as kids. Kasai stopped focusing in school, and started to get behind on schoolwork, ultimately never being as interested in it as he was before Kaito’s death.
At 16, Kasai’s parents and him decided to move to Karakura, a decision that his mother wasn’t overly happy with, but tolerated it. Kasai was happy with this though, as he was interested in Japan and especially Karakura. However, only 6 months after moving to Karakura, Kasai’s father was killed in a car accident. Kasai seemed not too phased by the death of his father, due to being preoccupied by still mourning the death of his brother. As a result from this, Kasai’s mother moved back to Tyumen, where she still lives to this day.
Kasai now lives in Karakura by himself, no longer having close relatives there due to his Grandparents dying, and his Aunt/Uncle moving to Hiroshima to attempt to forget about the disappearance of their daughter. Kasai has now got close contact with both his mother and other relatives, intending to visit his mother again in the foreseeable future.
