PHYSICAL AILMENTS: Torsades de Pointes (TdP) is a rare heart condition. His symptoms were
very present in his childhood, although over time they've diminished. However, due to a
recent onset of immense stress, he's found himself slowly having to worry about it all
over again.
[His father had Long QT Syndrome, a heart disease that is hereditary and was passed to both
Zak and his sister. She succumbed to its clutches at the age of 14, however he survived and
went on to further develop prolonged TdP following a bad reaction to one of his treatment
medications. His heart is, of course, not always in a state of arrhythmia, and he makes sure to
take his medications to take as much preventative action as possible. He also has a pacemaker
device, which will send a controlled shock to his heart to get it to beat regularly again when it
enters a state of arrhythmia.]
MENTAL ILLNESSES: ✧ COMPLEX POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER
Also known as cPTSD, it differs from PTSD in the sense that it is caused by a
prolonged trauma, not just one traumatic event. It's harder to treat than PTSD is,
and has more complex symptoms. This developed for Zakary over his time spent
in Karakura, more specifically during the period of time where he served in criminal
groups and was forced to fight in a gang war. Due to increased exposure to situations
in which his life was endangered, as well as a lot of physical damage dealt to his
body and mind, he soon found himself, at times, lost in flashbacks. His most common
triggers are being pinned down (from when he got his legs broken), the alleyway beside
the powerplant (where he was tossed during the war), having people come up behind
him (how he was stabbed in the neck), and being held/hugged without
warning (general touch aversion). He's not one to face his cPTSD head on, with it
in fact being quite undiagnosed, and instead chooses to suppress it. However, it's
recently been catching up with him, severe panic attacks rendering him hysterical.
Zakary sees his trauma as a source of weakness, thinking it would only lead to
harm for the ones he loves due to his fragility. Thus begins him shutting
down on himself, shoving away any who he feels were burdened by his troubles.

panic attacks (which range in severity), physically lashing out (i.e: punching/kicking),

Otherwise notated as GAD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder is characterized
by a persistent feeling of worry or anxiety that seemingly has no real cause.
For Zakary, this manifests in his life as a feeling that he needs to constantly be in
a state of hypervigilance, accompanied by a nonstop paranoia of his loved
ones being hurt even when not in contact with them for just a short while. It
developed for him mostly due to his. . . well, chaotic life in Karakura, many
scenarios resulting in similar negative outcomes that he's begun to see as
familiar. When left alone he'll often overthink recent events, pacing around in
his apartment as he allows for himself to think deeper about everything that
he had witnessed. The most prominent way GAD has affected his life is through
further increasing the severity of his insomnia, as most nights when he isn't
being kept up by illness, it is due to the fact that he cannot stop feeling anxious
about an irrational future outcome. Additionally, he is very jumpy/on-the-edge,
and will react incredibly poorly to being snuck up on due to this.
