I doubt this suggestion will get implemented merely because of the chance that it’d string along role hogs, unfairness and whatnot, but I agree with the overall gist of it nonetheless.
Coincidentally sprouting after the last wave, the student council has been getting the attention it’s been deprived of for so long (not to say that it was ‘underground’ before). I think this is because of a wide range of characters being an addition to the roster—’unconventional’ ones that you wouldn’t think twice about if they’d go for council or not, well, because you’d assume not. It really adds a unique strand to the branch of roleplay and I can only see it as inevitable that more people, moresay those from sport teams, join in on it in the future. That’s what councils frequently consist of.. Right? Uniqueness. Not just boring old black and white characters, habitually good and bad moral code; it’s everything and everyone. It’d be a shame to strip a character from their creative integrity just solely because of a simple chance that may or may not happen. If anything, the application process for team members can be more strategic and in depth to debunk those unwritten chances - or even those checking council applications can be kind and considerate about those who are and are not apart of teams like how other factions do
