Adjust the availability of an RPName

Players, whether banned or inactive, are still the owners of their character's name. That character they play or played has lore and meaning behind it, which is why I disagree with letting other players take their name simply because they are either banned or have been offline for a while. In the Japanese culture alone there are hundreds of thousands of different first names that can be used, and that's not even counting the amount of first names there are throughout all the countries in the world.
good point.

-1, I won’t elaborate further other then few words..

A character is a players they made their emotion, they made the name, there’s lore, if I went on to quit and be gone for a while, I don’t want to come back to someone brandishing the name Leonardo S Watcher, it Asriel Zoju, characters I’ve worked on, written lore for, they are my babies, there is in no world where me being inactive gives the right to take an RpName from me.

that is something that actually make sense.

now another just question that could make sense.

Imagine if i had lost my account, like forgot password, or something. And i want have to access my chars back, could that work?

It’s not possible for staff to change someone’s RP name if the account is offline. I’m unsure if this is something that can be changed

I wouldn't want to see my characters name be reused by someone else just because I quit. Just come up with something new, there's a lot of names to be used.

I see, and link if someone that lost account and want to recover everything? Of course, having proof
Unfortunately we can't do anything. Forcefully changing someone's rpname requires that user to be online, so if an account is lost, we're unable to use the command

I would absolutely HATE if I went inactive or left SRP for a period of time for whatever reason it may be to see someone take my characters name that I could have very well spent years putting work and my love into. It's also heavily suggested that you be creative to try and find your own unique names for your characters, even if the one you originally wanted is taken as Oli stated.

While I disagree with this suggestion, there are cases where you might think it's best to do something about it. Cases like:
  • Having an already-existing character before joining SRP
  • Wanting your character's name to have a meaning that defines their behaviour and attitude
While these concerns are valid, there are alternatives that work just fine without affecting the quality of your character or unnecessarily changing a plugin reliant on a pretty big database.

1. In the first case, if you had a character prior to joining SRP, do understand that this version of your character doesn’t have to be identical to the original concept you first created. To put it simply, changing their name shouldn’t affect their personality whatsoever. This is especially useful for names that may sound generic (e.g., Sakura, Shiro, Akira, etc.); the unavailability of these commonly used names will "force" you to come up with more original ideas for their name and identity!

2. In the second case, while names can have significance in roleplay, it's best to avoid thinking that a character's personality is defined by their name. Instead, once you've built up your character, you can come up with different alternatives for their name so that you don't have to face this issue in the future.

It's true that it can feel frustrating to find that your character’s name is already taken, but given how character creation works, it shouldn’t be a major issue. As long as you have a few alternative names prepared, it’s best to focus on developing your character’s appearance, behaviour and relationships rather than getting attached to a single fixed name.
