Accepted Mistalee's Drama Teacher Application (SWITCH)

Mistalee

Level 104

What is your Minecraft username?: My IGN on Minecraft is 'Mistalee'.

How old are you?:
I'm currently 13 years of age.

Do you have any previous bans?:
No, I have great pride in saying that I have never been banned on
SchoolRP, nor do I intend to do anything which makes me liable for a ban at any given point in time.

What Country are you from?:
I'm from Germany.

Do you have Discord (if so, what is your discord username?):
Yes, I do have a discord! (Knot#3985). I rarely change my name on Discord, which means I doubt this will be invalid by the time this application is reviewed.

Do you understand that most answers are found in the roleplay documents?:
Yes, I fully understand this.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you will be demoted?:
Yes, I fully recognize and acknowledge this, as well as agree with it full-heartedly. It makes complete sense, seeing as you're most likely looking for active and interactive teachers, who openly showcase their activity on the server by logging on frequently, opposed to inactive teachers that only log on near the end of the month to attempt to reach 15 classes before their time runs out.

Do you understand that all classroom activity must be documented on the "Teacher Roster" thread?:
Yes, I fully understand this.

Describe your activity on the server & on the forums?:

My activity on SchoolRP, the server itself and the Forums it provides are both two completely different stories,

My appearance on the server itself, I believe, is quite frequent! I log on just about every day, usually for about 1-4 hours, if I'm not mistaken. I'd categorize myself as an average player, as I don't believe I'm one of the widespread of popular players who have made their name incredibly well known in the community due to their common appearance on SchoolRP, as well as some other factors that play into it. However, another part of my activity on SchoolRP would be the fact that I consider myself a regular attendee of server hosted events, such as "The Karakura Floral Ball", "The Karakura Awards Ceremony", as well as some recent events such as the College-Student Graduation Ceremony and Picture Day. I plan on keeping my attendance when it comes to these events recurring and continual.

As for my activity on the forums, I'd say I still remain active. I admit, though, it's definitely not as active as my appearance on the server. I regularly check in with recent threads and posts, commonly leaving a reaction, if not commenting on the thread itself. My activity on the forums is something that could definitely be improved, which I intend on doing in the next coming weeks.

What is your motivation for becoming a teacher?:

My motivation for becoming a teacher plays on many factors, all of which I'll be listing here.

First of all, I'd like to say that teachers on SchoolRP have been incredibly inspiring to me. They've always handled their students with immense patience and diligence, always making sure to remain calm and contained whilst handling difficult or stubborn students. I remember prior to receiving my role as a History Teacher, I would always admire them for their attentive attitude toward struggling students apparent in their lessons. This is my main reason for applying.

Second of all, I've had around one and a half months of teaching experience myself, and from my perspective, it's quite a unique and pleasant type of roleplay to me, as well as a faction which is extremely well managed, as well as allows qualified Teachers to roam freely when it comes to creativity in their lessons. I've met quite a few new players as a teacher, most of them being extremely pleasant to interact with IC-ly. Occasionally, some of which who oppose this factor can still have quite the entertaining roleplay, despite their rebellious and annoying character-vibe they may give off at first glance.

Third of all, a factor I'd like to mention in my motivation for becoming a teacher is my OOC recommendations I had received prior to applying for my first teaching role as a history teacher. I had been told on multiple occasions by personal friends that I would suit a teacher role upon asking them their opinion, most of which responded positively to said question.

Last but not least, my final factor playing into my motive to becoming a player with a teaching-role would be more concentrated on the reason of which I'd like to switch over to Drama, (The OOC reason, at least.)
Would be that I just seem to lack the creative spark when it comes to creating interactive and interesting History lessons. I never seem to be able to create a lesson structure which would keep all students entertained and completely focused on what my teacher character has to say without looking completely unmotivated and bored. I believe I would be capable of improving this if I switched over to Drama, as I believe that it'd be a topic with a more creative outlet for me, instead of the same, repetitive and usual lessons I host in History.

Do you have any experience in Roleplaying?:

Yes, actually, I do! In fact, I've mainly gotten into roleplay through the server itself! My experience when it comes to roleplay actually begins in the very old map of SchoolRP, around 2016, I believe. Since then, I've been roleplaying on plenty of other RP servers, which I'll spare the name of for the sake of advertising. I've met plenty of new players in regard to this question, plenty of which I'm still in close contact with to this very day!

Have you read the Faculty Handbook?:
Although I'm not aware of a disciplinary document with the title of 'Faculty Handbook', I can assure you that I have thoroughly read over all of the required documents in regard to how Teachers should go about disciplining their students, as well as keeping themselves in order by following the rules.

What are the classroom logs and why is it important?:
Classroom logs, (also known as the #highschool-class-logs chat on the Academics discord), are extremely fundamental when it comes to Teachers and their respective lessons, due to the fact as it's the only proof that teachers are able to provide that they actually taught a lesson that they claim, as well as serve to be one of the incentives as to why Teachers should host classes in the first place. Not to mention to also pay them for their hard-found effort and work when it comes to hosting these classes.

You want to start a school field trip; how do you do that?:
As far as I know, field trip applications have been removed on the forums, (either that or I just blind and can't find them), the way I went about gaining permission to host a school field trip was by DMing staff members which had experience and knowledge regarding the school-side of SchoolRP, which did effectively grant me permission to host said field trip.

As a teacher, what are the strict rules when being in a class?:
Although rules that are placed in a classroom may vary depending on which teacher places them, these are the rules I would set as a teacher:

Rule NR. 1: Any form of consuming sustenance in the classroom is strictly forbidden unless the Teacher themselves permit it. The only form of consumption permitted without the consent of the teacher (at least in my classroom), would be drinking from water bottles, but even this privilege itself can be revoked if it creates a mess.

In short: No eating or drinking in the classroom.

Rule NR. 2: Disrespect or foul language is prohibited in the classroom and should be turned off completely when the lesson is underway.

In short: No cussing/foul language in the classroom.

Rule NR. 3: A given rule in any classroom is to always raise your hand before asking a question, giving a response to a question. Any useless comments or silly questions which have nothing to do with the topic are prohibited and will be completely disregarded, possibly even punished for.

In short: Raise your hand if you have something to say.

Rule NR. 4: Any back talking to the Teacher/Authority of School Faculty are to be listened to and words are to be put first in front of any other student in regards to orders, as well as calming down disputes/arguments.

In short: What the Teacher says, goes.

Rule NR. 5: The usage of any second party items, (e.g phones, instruments, etc.) are to be turned off/put away for the sake of keeping the flow of the lesson peaceful and educational, this also implies that speaking to your peers without permission is also prohibited.

In short: No phones/distractions in class.

Summarize your previous RP experience's (both in general and on SchoolRP):

I'd say my previous roleplay experience would mainly consist of StudentRP, where I could always be found RPing with friends and players I haven't taken time to acquaint myself with alike! In fact, me RPing is something that stemmed on this vary server itself, back on the incredibly old map with the free school model. Since then, I've had plenty of experience roleplaying on different servers, even going as far as roleplaying on completely different platforms! I'd summarize my previous RP experiences, overall, as pleasant, yet small memories that I'll make sure never to forget during my stay here on SchoolRP.

Describe the ranking system of teachers:

- HD: Head (of) Department
'Head of Department' is the highest rank a teacher can receive in their role, they're extremely important as they're in charge of keeping their department at peak shape, communicating with their subordinates to ensure that every Teacher in their department is educating their pupils in the best way possible.

- QTLS: Qualified Teacher (in) Learning Skills
Teachers with this rank have proven themselves to be qualified to educate their pupils on the subject they have chosen, ranking up from NQT.

- NQT:
Newly Qualified Teacher
NQT's are most likely newly recruited teachers who have been accepted onto the Team, proving themselves qualified of this role by having their application accepted. Overtime, NQT's should become QTLS, or occasionally HD if they've proven themselves good enough in their lessons.

Present to us your knowledge about Teachers in-game and out-of-game, what purpose do teachers serve. What salary do they get? Include a paragraph about the way teachers teach, what they do in their spare time in general.

Teachers receive a salary of about 250k, as long as they complete 15 classes by the end of the month. An additional 50k will be added onto said 250k for every 5 classes they host, as well as a paycheck request before the end of the month.
As for the purpose teachers serve, they're incredibly fundamental in an educational environment, seeing as classes wouldn't be able to be hosted without a mentor who is qualified enough to educate their pupils in an orderly fashion.
The way Teachers teach can vary depending on who it is that's teaching, some teachers decide to take a creative approach into their form of teaching, regularly hosting group assignments and unique lessons, others staying traditional and handing out textbooks and explaining the topic.
Again, as for what teachers do in their spare time consists of every-day normal thins, as well as hobbies that are unique to the teacher themselves. An activity that I know for sure teachers spend a considerable amount of times on is preparing their lessons, something that all good teachers should do.

Why are teachers important to a SchoolRP server?:

As I previously mentioned, teachers are incredibly important on SchoolRP due to the fact that.. Well.. It's SchoolRP! Teachers are an integral factor of SchoolRP, seeing as this server is meant to be realistic and is supposed to imitate real life to a certain extent. In a realistic scenario, school's aren't able to function without any form of educator present, someone who is qualified and has studied the topic enough to provide students with actual factual education. Of course, teachers on SchoolRP aren't there to actually help people out with their OOC assignments, instead, they're meant to give players an entertaining and fun roleplay experience that they'll make sure to remember!

What lesson planning system does the school work on?:
Must have, should have, could have.

Tell us everything you know about the character you will be playing in a few paragraphs. How does he look like? What makes him unique and different? What is his outlook on Students? What about the other teachers? What is his personality like? What is his plan for the future?

My character, 'Matt' J. Hamilton, originally had chocolate brown and curly hair which he received plenty of comments on, but due to his own personal gambles now has platinum blonde hair, a color which is often mistaken for a pale color, but still remains curly anyway. His hair is accompanied by his signature ocean blue eyes, which would always radiate an extroverted and positive vibe. Not to mention, he also adorns a lanky and ectomorphic 6'4" build.

Although I wouldn't want to classify him as 'unique' and 'different' for the sake of not appearing arrogant in any way shape or form, I'd like to note that he has quite the strong moral compass, always believing in what's right, hence his thick layer of patience and diligence when it comes to rowdy and rebellious students. His outlook on students still remains positive, like in my previous application, always having faith and encouraging them to pursue their own dreams. He believes that every student has a bright future and are able to leave a mark in this world, a path that the's only leading them through for a short period of time. Although his plans for the future remains uncertain, he does plan to eventually veer into an acting career, should the opportunity ever arise.

You find a gang of delinquents in the hallway cursing and swearing, what do you do?:

(As far as I know, cursing and swearing in front of teachers is actually considered failure to FearRP, but I'll just disregard it for the sake of this question.)

I (My character), would approach the delinquents with a calm, almost stern demeanor, something almost completely unusual of my character, seeing as his personality is more on the friendly side, telling the delinquents to immediately change their choice of words before further action is taken. Should they not comply with the direct orders given to them, I'd follow up on my threats and place them in detention until the school gates closed. If they decide to disobey the simple rules given to them in detention, a meeting with my role's superior would be in order.

No one in your class is listening to a word you say, what do you do?:

I'd try and host an interactive and entertaining class in the first place, to try and avoid this situation entirely. Should I prove unsuccessful in this, though, I'd have my character create some sort of loud noise IC-ly, (E.G slamming a book onto a table, tapping a pencil onto the chalkboard, etc.), should this still not resolve the issue, I'd seek out the source of the problem and immediately remove them from the classroom without warning.

When in the teacher's lounge, how does your character act?:

My character would maintain a polite and respectful attitude, making sure not to act all too friendly with new co-workers he's not all too acquainted with. As for co-workers he would have known over time, seeing as he's quite the extroverted person, he would go out of his way to great them and make small-talk to keep a mutual friendship alive and healthy.

Provide at least 5 detailed /me's of your character inside a classroom:
Usually, my actions involving /me are always formatted after /me would <blank>, but given the context, I'll format it a bit differently.

/me He'd proceed to slam his hands on the Student's table, staring at them with an annoyed and aggravated expression, accompanied by a serious and stern tone of voice.

/me He'd run his right hand through his hair as well as resting his left hand on his hip, deeply sighing, most likely due to the Student's lack of participation in the classroom.

/me He'd swiftly turn around to the board, writing "Broadway" onto the center of the board in clear and neatly written letters, before swiftly turning around, chalk still in hand before continuing to speak.

/me He'd gaze over to the students talking, passing them a disapproving and mildly annoyed look before clearing his throat in an attempt to catch their attention.

/me He'd brightly smile at the student, seemingly thoroughly pleased with their response to his question, giving them a small joyous 'thumbs up' with both up his thumbs.

Matthew J. Hamilton was born on August 18, 1993, in Brooklyn, New York. Growing up in a strict family among several brothers, all of which relentlessly teased him on a constant basis, his childhood wasn't the brightest of the bunch. With his parents constantly only showing any form of affection to all of their sons except Matthew, he'd more often than not find himself in a vulnerable and almost lonely at times.

A common occurrence in regard to Matthew's parents would be their constant nagging directed at Matthew to take up theatrical arts, seeing as both of his parents were involved in the Theatre-Business, take his father, for example, a well-respected Film Director, responsible of high-end films. His mother, on the other side, was a hard-earned actress who had earned her reputation by her frequent appearance on Broadway musicals, as well as the occasional movie.

Matthew always found himself as more interested in History opposed to anything 'Drama' related, seeing as his grandfather had greatly inspired him to be an absolute fanatic for History, as he would always tell 'Matt' tales of when he was in World War Two, which did effectively draw his mind away from his parents constant desire for him to get involved in something he had no interest in in the first place.

Although one day, as Matthew was occupied reading on a bench below a tree he commonly frequented, he found that an unfamiliar song had sneaked its way into his MP3 player. This song was 'There, right there!' from a musical titled 'Legally blonde', a song he almost immediately fell in love with upon hearing it, and constantly thought about playing a role in said musical, singing his heart out in front of a crowd with cast members he could call friends.

But he pushed those fantasies away from his mind, for the time being, focusing his mind on what he believed suited him. Not to mention that these thoughts were pushed away even further after hearing about a scandal his mother had abroad, entailing her immoral behaviour when it came to her fellow cast members, it became a known fact of her often verbally abusing them, manipulating them, etc.

Past all of this, after pursuing academic degrees regarding History, he decided that he'd go ahead and educate pupils of Karakura High on his former passion.

But this turned out to be short-lived after noticing that he would be much happier pursuing something he had originally turned down at first; Drama, seeing as it was something he has a minor in, as well as a passion he has always wanted to see out until the end. And instead of going for a whole acting career, he decided he'd stick to what he already knows, this being his role as a teacher, something he was already mildly experienced in.

Not to mention with an announcement being put into place about several Teacher's robot-like manners in which they would interact with their students, A.K.A the almost obnoxiously boring way they would decide to structure their lessons, he figured he was almost definitely placed upon that list of teachers with tedious and dull lessons, another incentive as to why he should change course in his way of teaching.

This way, he could educate his pupils on his own true passion, as well as teach new students which originally didn't have any interest in Drama just like he did, on what they're missing out on. With a new role as a Drama-Teacher in place, he believes entertaining and more exciting lessons was a goal he could more clearly achieve, seeing as Theatrical Arts does allow for more creative outlets.
