Describe your activity on SchoolRP:
Hey there! My presence in SchoolRP recently has been a bit of a lackluster as I have taken a bit of a big break from the community for a while now, but, I have been picking up the pace again, and trying to find ways to engage myself back into the community within SRP. As shown, I have been opening a bit more than usual, and letting my shop participate in events so and so. I plan on getting more than usual this month, and the next as I have a lot of free time.

Describe your roleplay experience with SchoolRP and other roleplay networks in general:
I have been in SchoolRP since the beginning of late January of 2023, and I have since engaged myself in both the art, and tailoring side of the community, thus resulting in making a name for myself in those regards, but in my experience people have known me more as someone that can tailor. I have made more than roughly +200 skins from 2023 to 2025 for a good chunk of the community. I do enjoy making skins, and art for people, and I still continue to do so to this day.

I have a bit of experience from other factions, but the ones that have left a mark on me the most are playing the role of a Lawyer for around 8-9 months or so, and becoming a Shopkeeper for a little over a year now owning the iconic and only Karaoke Bar, Seikatsu.

What are your current roles on SchoolRP:
Shopkeeper
Adult x2
College
Highschool x3
Bird

What is the subject you want to teach?:
Culture & Arts, a subject that lies under the ‘arts’ category. To not be mistaken with Cultural Arts, Culture & Arts centers on cultural expression through art such as music, illustrations, painting, poetry, dancing and so on. It is not limited to folk or traditions, and can be applied through modern expressions of our, and other existing cultures.

TRIVIA SECTION

What is your motivation for becoming a professor?:

I am very familiar with the area of teaching as I’ve previously took the mentor role in various communities prior to this one and I can safely say that I had a hefty experience however, it is duly noted that these experiences aren’t quite in the school setting within my past communities and are more related to a military-esque way of teaching. Even so, I’d enjoy the days when I have been given the chance to train and teach people the ropes of what I know, as well as the bonds I had made in the past and would love to relive that in a different community.

Especially, added to the fact that teaching in a more academic setting is a new concept to me. None-the-wise, I am quite motivated to do my best and would like to try a new medium that I haven’t dwell on before. As well as, exploring a new style of roleplay by engaging more with students and exchanging knowledge with other players of what I am more familiar with. And this would be a great practice on my patience, in an attempt to get better with explaining more in-depth or step-by-step in a more simpler and understanding form.

Not only that, Culture & Arts is an educational subject I've learned during my academic year, and it's a very broad spectrum that gives me a lot of ample room, flexibility and lots of specific topics to choose from. And, I love learning about culture, and cultural expression; such as music, poetry, paintings, dance, etc. I am always eager to learn other people’s culture, and how they express themselves through art. To empathize with this, I have always indulged myself in listening to music from different countries, unfamiliar regions even if it's traditional, or modern. And, I have always been happy to explore more about their traditional dances, and how culture can be expressed through visual art like painting, and how colors impact their identity. Not only do I just want to teach, but I want to carry on the memory of doing something I love by continuing spreading this knowledge forward. And pushing myself to take on creative endeavors and approach in my lessons, which is why I believe Culture & Arts is the best course for me to teach, especially as someone who loves, and wishes to tackle an artistic career for a living.

Work out two interactive classes you will host if accepted:
1. Timeless Cultural Week, an exciting class that will require one week of preparation, as everyone will be notified of the project in advance by the end of a different class, or via bulletin board. All willing participants are required to choose in these categories;

Musical expression like dance, instrumental (playing instruments), sing, may that be traditional, or modern music.

Visual art albeit paintings, tailored outfits, sculptures or other contemporary art forms.

Written expression such as a short story, philosophy or poetry that pertains to the topic of cultural expression.

They are free to combine sub-categories together like singing and dancing, etc.
All students will be given the choice to go in groups, duo, or single. They are also encouraged to wear appropriate wear for the culture they are representing may that be a victorian novelist, an Egyptian prince giving an inspiration speech to his men, pirate navigator sharing their story, a samurai who speaks in poetry infused with wisdom, a British punk band, k-pop boy/girl band, a french painter, so on. They are free to choose cultures from different timelines, give them a story or play a character, and they are recommended to stay in character as they perform, or explain their art mediums/pieces.

Their goal is to express their own culture, or the culture of their choice through their favorite art medium. And, give a brief three to five sentences explaining what culture they're expressing, what inspires them to choose this medium & culture, what they personally like about it and what emotions and message was it trying to evoke.

Afterwards, those who have picked musical expression will be performing at the front of the class, they will have a total of 3-4 minutes to perform their chosen sub-category.

Those who have given a visual art submission will have their work posted at the bulletin board if permitted to, and they will come to the front of the class to give a brief explanation, same goes for written expression, however, their work will be printed into copies and shared across the class. But, if their written work is very short such as a Haiku, or poem, they are free to recite it in front of the class. (Dramatic flare is encouraged.)

They will be graded for creativity, effort, cultural appropriation, speech, character and costume.

I'm always accepting suggestions and ideas to expand the category list as long it is appropriate and within my power.

2. Culture Charades, a fun class activity everyone will form in groups depending on how many students are in the class.

One representative of each group will roll from 1 to 5. There will be notebooks containing themes they will be performing, or interpreting, with a brief description of what they are, and what they do.

However, they will be given rules to follow. They are not allowed to give hints, they are not allowed to speak, they are not allowed to use music. They are to only use actions, facial expressions and dramatic movements. Props, and outfits (if they have one already prepared, or are similar to their theme) are encouraged. They can also make their own. (Like item rp card board, quick sketches/drawings or paper cut outs.)

They have one minute to discuss their plan. And, two minutes to perform. The students watching must guess what type of culture, or which region it is from that the performing students are expressing. The group with the highest points gets a reward or stamp.

In the next class, we will be discussing the performance from the charades, with the biggest question; "What was the give away? What made us think of that performance as a culture?" Gesture, action and emotion can greatly define a culture. Don't get me wrong, music and speech is one of the best factors in knowing culture, but most people now a days tend to forget gesture, and emotion. Like, how important is emotion to culture? I want to empathize the importance of gesture, and emotion as it the best way to evoke a message as most cultures express their story through mood.

Work out a field trip (meaning a class outside school grounds) you will host if accepted:

Our destination shall be the Shrine.

Though, before heading there, the shrine is a sacred place, and must be respected at all times, so, I will first be giving them instructions of what to do, and not to do. Including a guide on how to show respect to the facilities, as well as the maidens, and priests who work diligently.

I want to get a few maiden or priests who are eager to demonstrate one of the traditional dances, or songs they’d do at the monastery. As I have personally seen them occasionally perform during a few events in the past. Afterwards, I'll let the maiden/priest give a brief explanation of the dance, and the rich history behind it, as well as going over rituals, and the nature of the performance.

Before the field trip, I'd also ask the maiden/priest if it's possible for them to teach the students one or two things, and have the priest/maiden get the freedom to choose as long as it's short, and brief. May that be a quick gesture, a short dance, a song, a painting, a haiku, kendo, or even to show them how they perform a traditional tea ceremony. Creativity and options are endless as long as it relates to culture expression through art.

In the end, I'll be letting my students ask one question each, giving them some time to truly think about their question, and possibly avoid ‘troll’ questions or berating the monastery members in rapid fire questions. If they don't want to ask a question, they are free to give an extra one to another student who's willing to ask more.

SCENARIO SECTION

Your character would encounter a group of college jocks surrounding a bobcat jock, what would your character do?

Yasumasa will first assess the situation to get a better understanding of what's happening with the interaction. If it's becoming hostile, he’ll step up and warn the group to leave the bobcat alone, he'll give exactly two warnings; reminding them of the rules and possible punishment. If they persist, and insists on going against his word he'll send them to detention.

Then he'll ask if the bobcat jock is alright, giving his sympathies for what happened, letting them know that the counselor's door is open if they need someone to talk to.

Your character would be supervising detention, one of the students constantly disturbs by asking stupid questions, what would your character do?
"Hey here." Yasumasa would hand over a clean, fresh notebook to the student, "Any questions you have, and may have can be written in here. You can hand it over after detention, and I'll be happy to answer them for you afterwards."

"For now," he then placed a finger over his own lips. "Please stay quiet until the end of the detention, I appreciated that you have the courage to ask me these questions, and I'll always have the patience for curios students like yourself. But, I'd like for you to show some respect for myself, and the other students in here."

"So I'm going to give you a warning for now, alright? And, I won't be giving a second one. Please.. The last thing I want is for you to get in deeper trouble." If the student persist, their behavior will be reported to higher authority or SLT.

Your character would be hosting a class, and a group of cheerleaders keeps on playing songs on the phone and calling out other students in the class, what would your character do?
Yasumasa would stop what he was doing, pausing the class before walking on over to the group.

He rested a hand over his hip, "I think you came in to the right class to play music, but right now, it's not quite the time, and lecture."

He'd scratch his nose, "Listen, I don't mind it. You know, music, it's a great way of showing expression, and that's what my class is all about.. And, I'm sure you guys love to cheer, and dance, seeing that you guys are like theee best, right? So here's the deal."

Yasumasa clasps his hands together, "At the end of every week, I have a class specifically to let students and willing participants to share and express a bit of their own culture, or other cultures they really like through performance, think of it as a show and tell. You guys get the opportunity to show the whole class what you guys can do-- what the famous Spartan Cheerleading team has to offer, eh? Show them what cheer culture is all about, and how you guys are considered the elite."

He raised a finger, "But, first, if you truly want to attend, feel free to apologize to the others. I don't tolerate that kind of behavior in my class, and I don't want to see you doing it again." He gestures to the students who's been called names, "And, please, remain quiet in the remainder of the class, and I'll reserve you a spot to perform early into the class for the Timeless Cultural Week, yeah? ONLY if you can keep up good behavior throughout all of my classes. You can mark my word."

Instead of quickly shutting them down, Yasumasa would redirect this behavior, and encouraging the action to be used in a positive outlet such as the specific class. After all, he wants to give students the space, and environment to freely express themselves and share their culture, cheerleaders are probably one of the best groups for this, as Yasumasa can see them as rather a hardworking group when it comes to their passion for cheer. If they refuse to comply, and continue on with the bad behavior, Yasumasa will be left with no choice but to kick them out.

Your character would be walking on the school perimeter and encounter a fight between a couple of students, your character tried to break it up but it didn't help, what would your character do?
Yasumasa would remain calm, and collected. The first thing he'll do is to make sure no other students, mostly audiences get involved or hurt, "Everyone back up, don't get near them, or you'll get a detention slip too."

He'll then take out his radio, calling for any back-up or other employees within the school grounds. With the help, they'll try to break the students apart, and distribute detention slips to everyone involved. And, to those who are badly hurt will be sent to the clinic for medical care, or possibly the hospital if their injuries are unable to be taken care of by the school nurse.

CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE

Tell us everything you know about the character you will be playing in a few paragraphs. What do they look like? What makes them unique and different? What is their outlook on students? What about the other teachers? What is their personality like? What is their plan for the future?

Art by me.

[!] An old ID photo of Yasumasa Taniguchi would be attached to his file. He was in his early 20s at the time when the picture was taken. [!]

Yasumasa Taniguchi is a middle-aged Japanese man with pale skin, and dark raven hair. His left eye appears to be a very icy cold blue, and his right an opposing warm brown-- The iconic gaze of both ice, and fire, cold, yet warm; that would often stare blankly at the person, like staring at a painted canvas, the pupils feel tensed for a moment as if studying every line, every curve, and possible brush strokes. To take note of colors, and shapes each and every person has that's uniquely to them. He always seem to be thinking in deep contemplation, as if his mind is always clouded in a thick haze that makes him seem.. Like he's not all too there at times.

Moles would be dotted, scattered all over his complexion, and across his crooked nose; it looked like it was broken and re-attached a few more times in the past that it took a permanent shape. The man's large, muscular arms would be covered in heavily shaded tattoos of mythological creatures in black ink that has already started to fade throughout the years. Despite the photo, the man's current hair is long, extending past their chest and right above his waist. And wears his iconic slim framed glasses. He seems to really need those otherwise he can't really see a damn thing.

At a glance, he can be mistaken as a bouncer at a night club due to his simplicity in fashion, just a black shirt and pants. But, he's willing to put in a bit more effort for the job.

The man with great restraint.
Yasumasa is another one of my wildcards; his whole personality shifts depending on who he is with. At first, he seems distant, aloof, and cold, a gruff man, but that was the result of being in prison; that he had adopted a persona to appear ‘tough’, rather than someone that looks like an easy person to pick on.

To the only family he has left; his nephews, and their mother; Mon, he seems quiet, gentle and a very rational guy. A strong characteristic that was part of his identity before he was sent to prison. Why? Mon Asōgi was the only person he ever knew before he disappeared, he does not want to lose her nor give her any discomfort by giving her the impression of a completely different man. He does not want to be a stranger to the only friend he knows from the past. And he does not want to distance himself further from his nephews.

To most people, he appears to be cold, monotone and he can be very spiteful towards people that hold no empathy, nor respect for others. But despite this, Yasumasa has rarely expressed himself, he has always shown a great level of emotional restraint, and always lives by a quote, “Think twice before you act.” He always thinks deeply of his actions. Will this benefit both parties? What will they learn from this? What is the message, and emotions he’s trying to evoke by doing this? A habit he picked up while being in prison, it’s how he avoids trouble, and how he gets to other prisoner’s good sides. But, once he was out, he didn’t need to think twice, however, he still does it out of habit, and for better reasons. He strives for a space that makes others feel safe, and to better others.

He constantly thinks of the comfort, and mental-well being of other people as that has always been the most important thing. Yasumasa has always been considerate, and well-tempered. He also has a lot of respect towards people who take it upon themselves to be mentors, or being in the profession. Teaching people, let alone young folks, is not a very easy task, and being passionate about what they’re teaching is a feature that Yasumasa greatly commends.

“If it isn’t harming anyone, or breaking rules, then let it be.”
Another quote he lives by. Yasumasa would let students do things freely as long as they aren’t breaking code, harming anyone, or class rules, and he will encourage his students to be themselves; to make a platform where they can feel safe, and free by being who they are and how they want to freely express themselves to be which aligns a lot with the class he’s teaching. This was also how he ran Seikatsu before selling it away. His employees love him for it, to the point that they even ‘kidnapped’ him, and made attempts in the past so that he can return as their boss again. Despite this, Yasumasa found it rather endearing for them to care that much.

Well.. What now?
Compared to back then, Yasumasa doesn’t want a lot in life. He felt like he had already gone through enough, and the only thing he wants now is to settle, and focus more on himself. He wants to pick on a lot of things he had missed after being in prison for ten years, to just feel free and surround himself in a good environment. Yasumasa just wants something simple, and that is to have an enjoyable, and fun experience in his class. A place where his students are free to express themselves, something he couldn’t do in prison.

Describe how your character ended up becoming a teacher and their previous life. It is optional to include earlier life but recommended.

CHILDHOOD - TEENAGE YEARS

Ever since he was younger, Yasumasa has always been a strong observer; constantly seeking answers, wanting to fill up the knowledge to his questions - trying to understand people to gain a strong connection. He was always the quiet one but wasn't afraid to share his thoughts through a window of opportunity, he believed to be the odd one out, compared to his friends, but he never had a tough time getting along. Just that he always feels out of place. Yet, never with his older brother, Yasumasa looks up to him in every way, and has always wanted to make him proud between the two, Yasumasa is the brains, and his brother the brawns. But despite this, they get along like a seed to a pod. And, they always had each other’s backs.

Yasumasa is also a studious kid, but he found balance between his academics and friends, he wasn’t always isolated, nor distant. He just has great discipline, and knows where his priorities are. He is always happy to help other people, he is always proud of other people’s progress

Yasumasa Taniguchi wants to be the safety net for his family to fall under, and have their future be sealed in a comfortable home.

MEDICAL STUDENT YEARS
Yasumasa Taniguchi was a busy medical student, however, due to his old habits, he found a healthy balance between medical school, and his personal life. He studied biology, and medicine abroad at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China for roughly 7-8 years. Yasumasa has always been so ambitious, and adventurous; he wanted to go to a different country to mostly explore their land, and absorb unfamiliar culture while meeting interesting people. Sharing endeavours, and seeing genuine passion, the light that brims in other people’s eyes that had inspired him to do better in his academic year, especially when he’s doing this not just for himself, but for his family, his parents, and to make his older brother proud. Yasumasa has always been pouring his hardest into everything that led to returning home to Japan with high honors in both of his degrees.

PRE-PRISON YEARS
So he pursued the path of General Surgery, not just for financial security, but he always aspired to assist other people that are in need of medical help.

A very difficult career, but with a strong resolve, and positive outlook, anything is possible.
So it was a shocker, that Yasumasa sat there in the courtroom, fumbling thumbs after a large claim against him. A career-ending criminal charge; medical malpractice, and the involvement of a fraud scheme that had taken place under hospital grounds that involved unauthorized distribution of certain medical supplements.

Unfortunately, it was a loss, the odds against him were too strong, he swore to friends, family that he didn’t do it. That everything pinning against him was false. Why? Why would he throw his career away when he just started? He was only 28, half-way through his residency. Yet people are convinced he did it. Believing what was shown despite how much Yasumasa has helped them, a betrayal of trust, the man’s perception of who is real or false shattered before him.

Except for one man, that was his supporter ever since the beginning of his life, someone that has stubbornly stood by his side and had always believed in him; his older brother, Hiromitsu Taniguchi.

But did Yasumasa really commit malpractice and take part in a fraud scheme?
I was framed.”

I’m sorry Yasumasa.. But, the evidence is too strong, there’s not a lot that I can do.”

Shin Asōgi was the representative, the defense attorney that took on the case due to Hiromitsu’s marital relationship with Mon Asōgi.

“.. So, it’s over?”

Everything Yasumasa has worked hard for, gone.

At that moment, he felt like the ground had swallowed up everything in his world, and left him nothing but a chair to sit on, locked in a cage and watch the out-stretch of barren plains.

Yasumasa Taniguchi was sentenced for roughly ten years in prison.

I’m sorry.
Those were the last words he’d heard from Shin Asōgi.

Before..
He was murdered by Hiromitsu Taniguchi.

PRISON YEARS

The first thing Yasumasa has learned was to keep things to himself, a decade to serve in his cell, it was mentally exhausting. At first he was anxious, he didn’t want to anger the wrong crowd, but he didn’t want to be an easy target either. But, after what happened to him, he couldn’t bring himself to trust people, so he isolated himself from making personal connections. Each day, he didn’t have much to do, so he picked up hobbies to keep him sane, and reflect. For the first time, he started working out, picking up a paint brush, writing and when given the chance, he even pursued a degree in Culture & Arts along with Fine Arts & Philosophy. Yasumasa has also volunteered as a teaching assistant.

POST-PRISON YEARS

When he was finally released, the first thing Yasumasa did was to visit his brother, eleven days before his death penalty.

Why did you do it..?

Because, it's his fault you’re in here.. He failed you.

Hiro.. What’s wrong with you?”

Yasumasa wasn’t looking at his brother, he may have his face, his body, his voice, but the spark in his eyes are gone, like looking at a husk of what’s left. The vision of the person he looked up to.. Betrayed him too. At this point, Yasumasa didn’t know what to believe, he didn’t know what to trust anymore. Everyone he surrounded himself with, everything he has built up.. Feels like a lie. And, he couldn’t help but feel responsible for Shin’s death. If it wasn’t for him.. He would still be here, no one would have died.

For the longest time, Yasumasa felt lost. He had nowhere else to go, due to the charges; he was greatly in debt, and he’s just been walking aimlessly in the dark. The only thing he had was his paint brush, and the motivation to draw. But one day, a spark came to him, and he was the one who created the Karaoke Bar, Seikatsu. He ran the place for a long time since the beginning, and had always taken care of his employees. He had made a family.. A place he can call home. For the longest time, he had always felt so alone, but now, he was surrounded by warmth, and could finally see the colors in the world.

Evidently, he was given a deal by Deno von Moltke to sell it to Botan Otsuka-Asogi at the time. Which he did. And he successfully paid off his debts, and had a clean start.

But, he missed it. The family he left behind… He didn’t regret what he did, but he felt bad for building something up from the ground, to only lose it all again. At this point, he could only laugh at himself for keeping the cycle going. So he disappeared, running back in the darkness again.

“This time.. I won’t lose it..”

Yasumasa was back on the drawing board, he couldn’t go back to practicing medicine. He didn’t have a lot of talents, nor skills to work at other places within Karakura, but he did want one thing that re-sparked a flame in him. And that is to teach people, much like how he taught his employees. The feeling of just supporting someone, and inviting them a space to be themselves was something he never thought he’d aspire to do, but that was what kept him going.

So, Taniguchi applied to be a professor, hoping that he could have a better re-start in his life.
