Describe your activity on the server:
When creating this application, I have decided to rank myself on a scale from zero to ten; ten being the most active in terms of numbers and zero being borderline quitting. Placing myself along this scale, I’d like to consider myself somewhere between seven and eight.

Having the roles I currently do, such as Event Team as well as being a Higher-Up in the Hospital faction, I’d like to believe that being active isn’t something that is up for debate. Activity, in my opinion, is something that is a very high demanding topic that every faction on SchoolRP requires but is easily done-so. Not only do the roles I have on the server require the activity, but I am also a tailor for multiple servers such as Misfits as well as Euphoria, co-owning the latter, that require activity to stay in. Ignoring the roles on Discord, I also help multiple shops such as Kirei Hana, La Casa Nostra, as well as Okinasa - earning the title of ‘manager’ at majority of them.

Outside of SRP, I am also a part-time college student; my major helping in terms of creative writing. However, due to it all being online, I can make my schedule depending on the situation at hand, and can alter and mesh my schedule to how I see fit. This is a key aspect to how I am able to do more things, and manage everything accordingly. It sounds like a lot when written out, but I have learned over the four years of playing SRP that balance is key, and I have somewhat mastered that ability.

In a detailed formality, there is a table chart below that shows when I will most likely be online. I’ll most likely be active on Discord if pinged/DM’ed directly - I’m always available to help and be reached!

What position are you applying for (Maiden or Priest)?
For this wave of applications, I will be applying for Maiden.

What is your motivation for applying?
Much like the activity aspect of applications, motivation tends to follow the conversation like the moon pulling the tides along the rocky shore.

The account I am applying on was once locked away to the Sports faction, a key that was never to be used, as I adored the space. However, I had been a part of the faction for over two years consistently, and have recently decided that I needed a change of scenery. Whilst JockRP will always be engraved into my brain, the same with the hospitality aspect of the server, I have never taken the time to consider myself anywhere outside those boxes. Being a part of the server for as long as I have, I tend to stick to what I know and what you are good at - and hardly ever branch out towards those around the server.

In a detailed formality and written for the sake of this application, my motivation is to further branch myself outside of the box I’ve created for myself. I have held conversations with a few of my close friends and have tried to figure out how to push myself further in my journey along the server, as I had been burnt out not too long ago. Shrine, and overall this community in general, has always been something that I’ve wanted to be a part of for a year or so now, but never had the account to play on or the motivation to push towards the unknown. Being a part of the monastery ICLY has always been in the back of my mind - and I have decided that this wave of applicants was the time to express that.

Another reason for me applying this wave of applicants is to further push my creative writing and continue to converse with the community. Roleplaying and writing with a digital pen have been a part of my life for four years, and even before joining Roleplay Hub, my actual pen has found itself on actual pages, scribbling out stories and timelines of characters. Applying to a faction that is heavily involved in writing actions as well as social interaction with those around the character sounds like a dream to me, as corny and cliché as that may sound. Writing to people back and forth, appending galore, has been something that I’ve wanted for ages now; Shrine seems like the hub for such a desire.

What do you currently know about Shintoism? Are you willing to learn more about it?
In terms of Shintoism, I’ve barely got anything to note that can be considered me an expert. I have never truly dabbled in the faction outside of the omikuji, tarot readings, as well as a cleansing. With that being said, I am more than willing to learn about the way of Shintoism and become more knowledgeable on such a topic. Below are the topics I am familiar with:

Kami
When referring to those around the shrine, the ‘Kami’ is what most would title a spiritual beings or force that inhabit the world. They are not a sort of God, or have the ability as such - but can be worshiped much like one. When conversing on the topic, they can be considered a sort of natural phenomenon, such as the wind blowing through your hair or the loud clap of thunder and lightning during a thunderstorm. Not only can it be a natural aspect of life, but it can also be when a loved one has passed on to the afterlife. Overall, it can mean a divine presence that does not take up an overall body; a feeling to be something to note.

Torii Gate
Used as a ‘marker’ of sorts, this item is used as a sort of portal between the shrine areas as seen along the space. The gate itself can be seen as something that separates what the normal world is from those that are sacred. There are three types of these gates, one of them being Shinmei Torii. These sorts of gates are used at older temples and shrines and are more of a straight line. The next style of gate is titled Myojin Torii. Myojin is more curved and has an upper crossbar, and is the most common style of a Torii gate. The final sort of gate to note is Ryobu. The creation is thicker in terms of width, and has more decorations.

Festivals
As the Shrine coexists with the server, there are many festivals that exist within the faction. In terms of such, there are quite a few to note, one of them being the New Year Festival. This seems to happen around January 1 - 3, and is essentially here to help welcome the new opportunities and situations that life may bring. Some things that can exist during this festival are cleaning homes, decorating with pines and bamboo, and offering items such as foods to the Kami for good fortune in the year. Another festival that can happen is the Bon, which happens in the month of August. The event itself is to help welcome the return of ancestral spirits to visit their families, and celebrate the time spent with them. Some of the aspects of such an event include lighting lanterns to guide those passed spirits as well as a dance, titled Bon Odori.

Rituals & Tasks
One of the many things the Shrine faction has to offer is rituals and the concept of different tasks to perform. The first to note is one of the purification rituals. The purpose of such a ritual is to make sure the space - whether it is a home or work - is pure of all evil beings by cleansing. One of the many ways you can perform such a ritual is by washing your hands and mouth at the shrine entrance, as well as being washed in the ponds and rivers. Next is the conversation of prayer and offerings. Most of the shrine workers can do such a task when referring to prayers. Most of the time, those around will speak in a certain language that not many can understand in order to communicate to the Kami directly. When referring to the offering aspect of the monastery, this is done to showcase the gratitude of the lifestyle each person has. Some of the common offerings tend to be rice and sake. Continuing with the tasks, the monastery can also offer ema. These are more of a visual representation of wishes and desires to the Kami for the future, and are most likely written along the space of a wooden plaque. These emas are then hung along the wall of the shrine and reset every month. Some of the wishes can be about good fortune, healthy years ahead, or just overall well wishes to their future selves. The final information I can recall is about omikujis. When conversing about omikuji’s, these are fortune slips that are created to showcase that the Kami exists in small and certain ways. They were also made to receive guidance in certain ways. Members of the town are able to come and ask for one of the items, and if the fortune they received is ‘bad’ in a way, they are able to tie the item to a tree or a sort of rack by the shrine in order to leave the item behind. I do not know much about the tarot card aspect, but I am quite excited to learn about them!

Ranks
Much like every faction, there are certain ranks and levels when it comes to roles in the Monastery. In the beginning, we have a Maiden - which is most likely the female presenting members. They perform dances tiled Kagura, and can aid in terms of helping priests. Continuing, we’ve got Priests! They are the male counterparts of the female roles. I don’t know much about this role, but they are one of the lower-ranking aspects of roles. Next is the conversation of Naishoten and Guji. The former title is the higher-ranked version of a Maiden, and is seen as the head of them all. When speaking of Guji, they are the higher-ranked version of a Priest. The final ranking, which is the head of them all, is Mitsue. They oversee everything in the faction - and are the main person in such a space.

Character Full Name:
A single signature that seemed to be in perfect penmanship would find itself written along the page, emerald irises finding themself staring back at the interviewer. Not entirely needing a name to define her as well as the worth she saw herself as, the strawberry blonde merely looked over at the being and spoke out.
“Katya Kirishiki.”

Character Title:
The question that seemed to be skipped over entirely without ignorance. This was not applicable for such a person as she was, no golden band along her ring finger. Her stature changed to have one of her legs crossed at the ankles, wooden sandals covering the majority of her lower calf. Woven in sunshine and poise, the same calming voice that answered previously spoke again.
“Miss Katya Kirishiki, that is.”

Character Age:
Cut to the same woman that sat against the seating with perfect posture had fairly no wrinkles, a tell-tale sign that age has yet to catch up with such a being. Slender and easy on the eyes, a single closed-lip grin found itself. Aging with wine, Kirishiki added two words of an answer, one number, without missing a beat.
“I am freshly out of college. Twenty-one.”

Character Marital Status:
Irises that fell down towards her lap, fingers were intertwined and resting comfortably along the figure. Katya was not one to converse about her relationship and the details of such, a closed lifestyle the blonde lived: not a soul besides close friends and blood relatives knew of her partner. However, the faintest grin on her lips as she answered the question.
“I am in a relationship with my college sweetheart.”

Character Nationality:
Drawing a shape along the skin of her leg, the question of nationality came to be. A woman with slender cat-eye shapes could answer without words, but the slight accent of certain consonants and syllables could allude to something that was not of Karakura native. Thus, the woman whispered out her lifestyle, what she was made of, and who she will forever be.
“My mother is Japanese, my father is Russian. I am nothing short of a mix of both.”

Degree/Certifications (If applicable):
Being the first in her family to have ever achieved such a title of graduation, the floral arrangements given to her the day she graduated, slowly wilting, she had something to answer. Many may not have something to note in these spaces, but the Kirishiki woman had a word to comment on such a topic. A sense of pride may have painted over the person, but no sight of it was there as the waves pulled away.
“I have a master's degree to my name.”

Backstory
Born from the cosmos, stardust, and divine choosing, a child who was in the middle of her siblings had begun to exist. Katya Kirishiki, a name fit for a princess (as per her mother’s choosing) had done nothing to deserve such a title at the age it was given.

Being in the middle of the rough pathing that her siblings had created versus the golden light her mother bathed her to be, she had one foot planted in between them both. Hushed comments of the native language of Russia and the foreign language of Japanese were all she had grown to be; saddened eyes were cast in Katya’s direction as she moved throughout her home life. One sibling was on her way to a boarding life, whilst her brother had soon grown to be a delinquent of sorts - detention was his after-school activity.

Katya was nothing close to what her siblings were, a quiet child that never cried for nothing like most had; a confidence that was not obnoxious or had a sense of pride that dripped and overflowed. Perhaps this is why her mother had chosen her as the golden child, the one bathed in the spotlight and never to be taken out of such. The Kirishiki offspring was a rule-follower, never stepping out of turn when her parents conversed with the family or speaking unless spoken to. Never telling a lie, Kirishiki was forever made to be a truthful child. Middle school teachers only held praise for the woman woven in floral - being a prodigy was nothing out of the ordinary for a child. Being the sun in the rather dull home, her mother had taken pride as Katya the only one who prayed towards the stars and had taken a liking to a tarot card deck. Being taught how to pray towards those who could offer good fortune, the blonde had always been perched by the window by their family shrine. Katya Kirishiki could never be sent away or choose to leave the life destined for her, could she?

However, golden things can only stay golden if there is nothing to compare them to - a trophy can only be shiny for so long. Staring up at the cosmos was all that Kirishiki had grown to do, finding extreme burnout as she reached the end of her middle school years, keeping up a title of golden. She was no longer the star of the school, falling behind and being titled two instead of one, and then climbing down the ladder until she was smack-dab in the middle once more. A destiny she was born into, and was forever trying to claw out of. Praying to those out there in the universe - later learned to be the Kami - had only made her feel as if there was less hope for such a woman. Scribbling emas along the local shrine’s plaques for an escape, offering her family’s sake to the tables - there must be a way out of the Russian snow. The hope for a better future never dimmed despite the dark days. The Kami must be listening, right?

The same irises that once painted her in gold now threw midnight streaks towards the teenager; her mother was the main artist. Consistent conversations that were once covered in adoration now held anger; why couldn't the golden girl manage to stick to the rules set for her? A family home that was once painted red with love now felt tainted, Russian air crushing Kirishiki’s lungs. She needed an escape route from hearing about her daily life and how she had grown to be dull. Wishing to the stars that once was an escape had been her only reason to keep going. As if there was a direct pathing towards to a better life, a plane ticket was bought without hesitation.

Karakura, Japan, was nowhere near her home - and that was better than whatever hellspawn she lived in now. Her siblings were creating distance within the bond, her sister lost in Seoul's streets, and her brothers fighting somewhere in the alleyway: the family had begun to scatter around the Earth like fragmented pieces of a puzzle. Leaving home at age sixteen was no easy task for such a being, packing bags and traveling alone to an unknown city absolutely frightened the teenager. However, her faith was placed into the omikuji that read how life was made to work out in ways they least expect. Thus, a plane ticket for a year later to go live with her cousins was read in her future. Guilt and sorrow began to fill Katya’s eyes and soul - meeting the fate she tried desperately to stray from as she navigated her last years of high school. Despite being faced with the burden of being golden, those two family members had met her with a kindness that not many can say they’ve experienced.

Practically being raised and housed by Tohko and Natasha, the blonde had successfully finished her time in the school and had even decided to stay in the city of Karakura for her college career, graduating in the middle of the class and not finding a reason to be golden anymore. Finding a lover who had supported her during that discovery was a gift from the Kami, Katya was sure of such. Days spent studying the universe and the acts of such a celestial being, a month in a club dedicated to navigating the stars, and pondering her world were how she had managed to graduate with flying colors. Perhaps the omikuji she had pulled in her younger years were correct: life was made to work out in ways we least expect.

However, soon came the year of not having anything to do. Being lost in the world and not entirely knowing her place, there were no stars in the sky to guide her nowadays - a forever storm with no sign of escape. Faith was beginning to fall flat, her world slowly turning on itself, and there was no way to claw out of this one. Stumbling to the shrine on pure coincidence (or perhaps there is no coincidence at all), the woman had found herself speaking to one of the fellow maidens. Practically begging for a tarot reading, the shrine worker allowed and laid the cards down before her, the moon being given towards the Russian-Japanese. With the card meaning intuition - hidden truths and often signifying a period of uncertainty or confusion - it felt as if the cards had truly spoken to her as a being. Finding a space that had offered her clarity, it was as if her third eye was opened at the end of the reading, stepping away from the cards and the words spoken.

The space of the shrine was her destiny in the long run, a golden ray of sunlight shining through the eternal cherry blossom. Being at the monastery did not mean that she was made to be the most perfect version of herself at all time, but it could easily assure her that her prayers were not left unheard. The written emas along plaques were not written in vain; rather, forged into time and allowed to process. Perhaps her destiny was not bathed in golden bricks; rather, a sacred space that she had grown to appreciate far more. Katya Kirishiki decided to pave her way up those infamous steps of the shrine and forge a home in the walls. The rest of her history was up towards those same stars she admired from afar.

How does your character act around shrine grounds? How do they interact with guests and other staff?
Within the shrine or anywhere within Karakura, her demeanor is very shifted towards her work, at least that isn't seen to her as a job, but rather a calling; a passion. The blonde wishes to carry herself for someone who may not entirely understand the significance of the space, wanting those around her to understand why the space of the monastery is such an important factor.

Her movements are slow yet deliberate as if carefully curated from marble - one chance to move and make sure it was right. Her voice was always monotone and low, not when speaking to anyone, but rather to everyone; ranging from the young and elderly, visitors, and fellow employees, which would give a handful of some of the vast majority of people she would usually speak to. Around guests, she acts as a proper, formal guide. The woman, within the grounds of the Shrine, would be someone you can truly rely on and not expect change, one who will stick with you throughout the entire situation at hand. Far from intrusive, rather, attentive to those who waltz around the monastery. She greets everyone that she would catch with a respectful bow of her body, offers assistance when confusion may occur, or even when they enter the shrine; the kettle for the tea is already beginning to boil. Her role in her own eyes is to ensure that every visitor feels welcome while maintaining order, not just in her workplace, but also in her home.

Kirishiki treats the shrine grounds not as a workplace or a space she is legally bound to, but rather as something sacred. To her, this is not just a workplace that can offer her a check at the end of the month. Rather, this is an environment; something that needs to be held dear to oneself, as thousands of lifetimes were lived up along the mountain top. Katya Kirishiki upholds an intentional sense of proper etiquette, seemingly a perfect employee. Enforcing herself not to overdo, she avoids anything unnecessary, something that could fault her experiences, and continues each day as such.

Regardless of this, Katya tries to the best of her own ability and morality to attend any and all offerings, or perhaps even something simpler, assisting in guidance for others. She wants to remain as mindful as one can be about their presence within the area of the shrine, which, to others and definitely herself, it is such.

With the other staff members, along with Katya, who work in the shrine, she values hierarchy and harmony, which simply put means to listen to those above themselves, and follow instructions precisely given to her. Not wanting to rudely interrupt an ongoing discussion or join conversations when unwarranted, Kirishiki ends up communicating as calmly as she can be, and with a bit of professionalism. Whether interacting with her seniors or other maidens, the woman approaches collaboration with humility, recognizing that the shrine work that she does herself is a collective. To the woman woven from starlight: Everyone and everything matters for their own personal reasons.

You see a guest jumping around the roofs of the building and overall disrespecting shrine grounds. How would your character handle it?
In the beginning of the situation, Katya would take note and watch for a moment of the movements being done; a wallflower at heart. Once given the chance to halt or alter the movements, the woman would begin to stroll upon such a being and begin by offering an explanation of why it is disrespectful to jump from the roofs of the buildings. These roofs were built before you could even walk, and disrespecting the space will only result in further warnings and punishment. The blonde would try her best to keep her polite and tranquil nature, but this would be the first warning given to the perpetrator.

As time passes, Kirishiki would then spot them once again disrespecting another area of the shrine, the given scenario example being the ema wall, scribbling, and ignoring the guidelines provided. Continuing with her polite nature and stature, she would again wait to see if the person had any care to alter or change their actions. Seeing not a thing change, a bit of sternness and weight would be added to the consonants and syllables spoken to the person as she moved towards. Once again, Katya would try her absolute best to explain why the situation is disrespectful towards those working and wandering the monastery - and inform the perpetrator once more of the warnings given.

At the end of the situation, if Katya sees the person acting out once more - jumping along the roofs and continuing to disrespect the space of the shrine - her tolerance would slowly begin to dwindle. The person will be warned one final time and instructed to leave the space of the shrine entirely. If the person cannot understand such a simple rule, they do not deserve to relish in the tranquility of the shrine’s atmosphere. As the person leaves, Katya would then note such a movement and potentially blacklist the person for future actions.

Why does your character want to become a shrine maiden/priest? What do they wish to achieve?
Growing up around the concept of offerings and divine reasoning, and later wishing to further develop herself, Katya Kirishiki wishes to be a shrine maiden for multiple reasons. Not just due to her lack of motivation elsewhere, but carving a home into the shrine walls and creating a space that exists for her and her alone. Her family has already begun to write their legacies along the pavement of Karakura; shopkeepers, paramedics, workers, as well as past psychiatrists, but none of them had been on the same path as Katya. Perhaps the motivation to go to the shrine and live out her days tending to the florals and offering tarot card readings is her own fate, and that alone is her driving factor.

Being outside of the college scene, she can no longer go back into schooling and does not envision herself anywhere outside of the monastery; the textbooks about science are being traded for sake at the altars provided. This may be another reason to be a part of the monastery and wish to live her life along the pavements. Her entire life, she had wanted to be included in something; a sense of family and unity that was not her direct bloodline, and being involved in the space of the shrine seemed like the best fit to be so.

Achievements is not something that Kirishiki desires for herself; a trophy to place on a shelf to collect dust is not something she envisions. If speaking on her long-term goals when working as a maiden, one of them is to slowly become a person of a higher rank, her place more solidified as the years pass. However, a goal of the woman that she has yet to vocalize is to ultimately make her mother see her as the golden child once more. Disappointment is not something that a blonde can say she carries like a burden, but is something she has faced before. To gain the respect of her mother once again is a goal - or, in this application, achievement of her own. A quiet and peaceful life for the woman woven in cosmos and red strings of fate is all Katya Kirishiki wishes to see in her lifetime at the monastery.

What are the core values of your character?
Honesty, Patience, Forgiveness.

Honesty
Being a soul that has never once told a lie in their life, honesty is the best medicine in Katya’s eyes. When dealing with situations at hand and deciding how to move forward in a situation, the middle child of the Kirishiki bloodline moves with honesty. Conversing on a topic with little lies sprinkled throughout the story - is it more of a nonfiction tale or one of fantasy? Katya Kirishiki values honesty above anything and refuses to back down or alter this core. Admitting a mistake instead of painting over the situation can create a beautiful outcome, even if there was room for error. Humans are not perfect and have flaws engraved into their figures, and being honest about said imperfections is an admirable trait to Kirishiki.

Patience
Everyone in their lives is constantly going through a situation that another soul may not entirely understand. Walking in her cousin's metaphoric shoes is not the same as strolling in her very own, and thus, patience is a value that the blonde woman holds. This core value has been the sole reason she is able to stay so tranquil under the pressure the universe has placed onto her shoulders. Being able to think about what has happened and make decisions on the information at hand is something that has helped Katya be such a woman. Not only is it a taken topic, but being able to show patience towards those around her has helped her reach her long-term goals in the previous years - a partner who shows her the core value daily.

Forgiveness
Continuing down the line of Katya's core values includes forgiveness. Whilst forgetting the pain and situations arising is not to be confused, forgiveness is a feeling that Katya values more than ever. This has helped the woman grow and care for healthier relationships - not just due to the nature of the movement - but has grounded the foundation on empathy as well as trust. Katya has let more things that do not serve her be forgiven; her personal growth never fails to provide the fruits of such effort. With the addition of personal healing, forgiveness allows Katya to continue her social butterfly travel. By acknowledging humans are once again imperfect, this allows everyone to be on an even playing field.
