Meaning

Name:

Well! One reason for the name of the shop is the definition of Fauna. It includes insects, and mammals. Any animal! The definition is as follows: “All the animal life found in a specific place or time period.” Thus, the name blatantly focuses on the animal aspect of my shop, displaying its purpose directly to customers with elegant wording. In a more figurative perspective, the name is meant to represent the inclusivity of the shop. Not just animals! The place is welcome to all, and the name expresses the shop’s versatility. It doesn’t just focus on pet animal types, but even other overlooked wildlife! Raccoons… bears.. We cater to all!

Although we are in Japan, and I acknowledge this, a Japanese title does not befit the character and concept I’d like to convey! However, if needed, Dōbutsushō would be the closest translation to Fauna (I believe).

Logo:

The paw print signifies the function of the shop, making it visually obvious that the store relates to animal themes. The name emphasizes the concept. The font is rigid but also carries a lot of whimsy, bold and pronounced. We are firm in our mission to help all animals, owners and just customers in general. The sparkles and hearts are merely a warm aesthetic touch, while green is aimed to be the shop’s signature primary colour.

Why do you want to become a Shopkeeper?:

There are several reasons for wanting to be a Shopkeeper, and the majority stems from my passion, and my interest in being able to do something I love while maintaining that further independence.

My first point references how I’ve been on the server for years, and never has my desire for shopkeeper wavered. As I’ve learned more about it from those who own shops, it’s made me realize how much inspiration and creativity I’d like to offer the faction. Interactions, roleplay. Lore! I believe I’d have incredible fun, and it’d also bring more spice to my character’s life besides the interesting scenarios she gets into… anywho!

Community. I can remember entering town chat when I was a lawyer, and just conversing with all the lovely members there. It was genuinely one of my favourite things to do, as I always felt welcomed. I don’t mean to be sappy, of course! However, I’d like to return to the Town community but in a refreshing new variant. I acknowledge Shopkeepers may or may not be a bit more distant due to the independence of the job, yet I’d still enjoy being part of the faction. To me, the smallest interactions still make a difference.

Creativity! Owning a shop allows me to release a bunch of creativity stored up in my mind. Haha, get it..? I’m sorry, I’ll go. Anyway, having that creative freedom within reason (approved by lead) is relaxing for me, and would make SRP that much enjoyable. I personally have a passion for any animal, and even insects, so I felt this would be a suitable and creative shop to open. Hence the theme

Apart from what was displayed in the above sections, there is a lot of responsibility I’ve shouldered on SRP that can help convince you of my reliability. I have been in positions that allow me to oversee others (like training for example), and even ones where I am entrusted with leading. In these situations, I always try my best to improve the quality of life, without sacrificing things in return. I’ve shown my dedication and commitment by staying after shifts to write manual formal inventory reports, going through every single item and checking it on the panel. It was fun, and this heightened my drive for the shopkeeper position.

What do you plan to do with your shop, and what makes it unique?:

Reasoning for Theme

A store related to animals, why would I like to open one? Well, there are many furniture items that are terrariums and whatnot for animals. Some less seen than others. I’d like a way to incorporate this aspect into a roleplayable environment. As well as bring attention to this less used side of SRP. I know many enjoy animals, and even build things in their own homes to have unique pets in SRP. Like snake enclosures, etc.

Another aspect of SRP I’d like to focus on is the animal whitelists. I’d like to give them more to do, especially with their potential owners. I want to provide quality roleplay and lore for these players in an area that I feel tends to be overlooked.

However, with the broader aspect of animal related, Fauna can cater to any animal loving guest!

Unique Mechanics:

Adoption RP:

Adoption, something the government does for humans but not animals! Rather than pressure the already hard working individuals, I’d like to propose that we allow adoptions to occur at Fauna. This could be for furniture customs of animals, etc. It offers another optional pathway for roleplay to the community, while perhaps a certificate could be issued for the occasion.

Note that this can be done for individual customs as well, to give IC lore to your personal customs.

How would it work?

Customers can enter Fauna and make their way to the counter. Most likely, adoptions will be scheduled beforehand, however we could have a separate booth for this. The Shopkeeper would ask what they’d like to purchase, and they would note what animal they seek. If we have something akin in stock, the owner would inquire of the information needed to either RP the adoption into a Google Sheet or provide a specific certificate of adoption via discord DMs. Potentially both could be done, but the certificate optional.

Guide Dog Training & Adoption

Yippie! Guide dogs are seen sometimes on SRP, but I do realize a small rise in disability representation. Thus, I’d like to offer an IC way to train up to be a guide dog! Of course, you would still have to do the official srp forum application, but this could be used as lore for it.

As for the adoption of guide dogs, I’d refer the person to EMS. If they get word of needing a guide dog, then I would issue them a licensed one by the Karakurian government (aka when they get approved).

Grooming / Haircuts

Ever want your whitelist to get a fresh new Mohawk cut? Yes? No? Maybe so? You’re in luck, because Fauna offers this service! This is a roleplay function meant to focus on interaction with players but inclusive to whitelists.

How would it work?

Fauna would have a small office to tend to pets. Note that this will have NOTHING to do with the medical aspect of animals. EMS would be the one to handle this, as they are trained to. However, I’d train workers in the roleplay of utilizing tools to create shape to the animals! This would strictly involve no harm to the animal as an ooc rule, but generally only trusted individuals would be allowed to do this.

Fundraising

Wildlife is important! This includes the well being of those in Ochiba Forest, and around Karakura. This can be an occasional thing where Fauna utilizes the money to help in building funds that relate to animal projects on SRP! Examples Fauna could have helped in the past was the zoo event, ocean work, etc. I’d like to give back, and I believe this would be beneficial for the server, especially if it goes towards things that increase the abilities of whitelist members.

Night/Day Security Shifts

Back at it again! Quota can beeee difficult. A lot of the time, security just stands there and gets fixed pay.. with some little patrolling here and there. I’d like to encourage people in my shop to be more active! These are additional shifts that may open. At minimum, there will be 2 security guards given set tasks to complete in the store overnight, on the weekend, or day (for any adults). They have to make sure everything is alright. This can open up to having more planned interactions with the event team or staff for example. Allow the community to have a chance to roleplay, and create some interesting scenarios.

What events could be run at your shop and/or on SRP?:

Clean dat Beach

The beach update is still as fire as ever.. but why is there plastic on the sand?! Wait.. what’s that in the distance.. a big plastic pile?!

In this event, which is more server wide, Fauna is appalled by the state of our oceans. Thus, it’s time for the population to reap what they sow and clean up after themselves! This could be a Collab with the ocean themed shops such as Umisachi & Tsuki no Umi

Adoption Fair

This is an event to hopefully find animals their adoptive homes. This could be paired with something like the zoo event as a pastime for guests, while those at Fauna work on issuing adoptions of animals to those interested. A type of advertising if you will!

#AnimalStage

There are manyyy loving owners with animals, and thus, why not give them time to shine? In this event, players can sign up for a contest with one animal.

Yen Prizes​

There will be a temporary runway where Fauna will open for customers. During this, the event will start. The participants will showcase any outfits (and actions of outfits) to the audience. At the end, the population will vote on a Google form for the winners.

Animal Outbreak!

Why are there animals EVERYWHERE?! Well… it seems like these mischievous animals will be shopping with everyone! In this event, animal whitelists are welcome to infiltrate the store. Who knows? Maybe you’ll become the animal whisperer. Point is, this event focuses on providing those with animal whitelists an event to participate in. Their animals will get more opportunities to connect with the player base! Good or bad..

Therapy (Petting) Zoo

As a therapy cow once said.. animals give the best support! In this event, players will be given the opportunity to bond with some of the animals. You may pet them, feed them and maybe hug them if it doesn’t stress the animal.There will potentially be plushies sold to commemorate the event.. perhaps even limited edition!

Goat (?) Yoga

Deep within the forest lies a bunch of yoga mats. This event is mainly for the employees, though can be worked to the public in some capacity. However! There’s a fun little twist to this yoga session.. besides the goats. As you work with the goats to complete your lesson, it turns into a gossip game! Ya know, the one where you’re asked a question and gotta say the name out loud? The one where you roll to see if you tell the question? Yes. Let’s get #messy

Aesthetic & Build

The aesthetic of Fauna is a peaceful blend of foliage with Karakurian modern wooden architecture. The aim is to maintain a professional atmosphere while adding a nature aspect that encompasses the theme of the shop.

What would I like to see build wise? There isn’t much I’d like to ask, as I think creative freedom for the builders involved is the best course of action.

Decorative Signs

Similar to some shops. I’d like to incorporate signs around the shop with different written messages. Things like the regular; hiring, custom donation contacts, etc. This time, I’d like to do fun facts. Perhaps about animals or even the shop / shopkeeper. Perhaps playful notes on consenting workers! I believe this would be a fun addition.

What will you sell in your shop?:

All items in Fauna are aimed to be pet / animal related. From furniture items like the hamster cage custom or adorable plushies to sport in your home! Any customs can be donated to sell at the shop, so long as they fit the theme & are approved.

In order to not be too limited revenue wise, I’ve considered adding things such as animal related plushies and what not to the list. However, this can be discussed with the Shop Lead, especially depending on the slot spot taken.

In addition to being open to public available items and donated customs, I am willing to purchase my own for the shop! Below are concepts of things I’d like to buy for the shop.

How will being a Shopkeeper benefit the character in question?

Cinder Schneidewind is a loyal, hardworking individual. She grew up with the constant perception of having to produce quality above all. Often, those around her would write off her own expression as merely a psychiatrist. However, Cinder would like to challenge this idea and prove that perhaps she is something beyond the title. Being a Shopkeeper would help her learn her passions in depth and explore a side of herself she was hesitant to, all her life. She wants to work, and put in the hours to something that is truly hers. Her own fate, not one decided by her parents and their wishes. Something uniquely her.

She strives to make a community where everyone works together to run the shop. Regardless of if she will admit it or not, she does look up to the odd bond those have at her workplace; Seikatsu. There’s always something happening. She doesn’t want a boring day. She’s had too many of those unemployed! Either way, she adores connecting with the community and welcoming individuals.

Cinder’s health would improve from finally having control of life for herself. Bland days would turn into fond memories. If she can help herself, she can help others. She’d have more to do, and this independent avenue would make the most sense for her current mindset.
