As the other two have said previously that is a GREAT way to progressively develop your character. Although it might not be so much ICly, it still adds depth and could also set a path in which you wish to take your character. This could revolve around mindset, speaking differently, involvement...

This is something in which could be enforced by a player. If you wish to make a guide then do so.
