Describe your activity:
I’m on pretty regularly with a schedule of being online from 5pm-11pm weekdays and being online from around 8pm-5am on the weekends! This is just a round about schedule, as sometimes it’s more or less.
Link any significant applications (e.g., Roles/Teams, exclude languages):
Professor Application [Accepted!]
What is your motivation to apply for reporter?:
Even though I was accepted as a professor, it wasn’t exactly my favorite. It was kind of overwhelming if I’m being honest. I believe that by becoming a reporter, I will have more roleplay opportunities, as well as have that faction experience without the overwhelming nature that the education faction had. It was actually recommended to me by a friend that I join, as they said that they believed it would be something I would enjoy and so far after reading the job description of it, I believe they’re right!
Do you have any experience with writing? What is your relationship with writing?:
Writing is one of the things that I have always loved to do. I even went to University to acquire my bachelors in English Literature. In Uni, we had a LOT of writing assignments and I loved every single one of them. Even now, I am actually trying to write a book! I’ve written so much in my life, it comes as natural as breathing.
Are you aware of - and will follow - the set of rules provided to you?:
Yes, I am aware and will abide by all rules!
Why should we accept you over others?:
I feel as though with my background that I stated above, I will be able to provide interesting and factual information in my reports. I, of course, can’t guarantee that information that I acquire in game will always be factual, but as far as reports on things that I find interesting, they will always be fact checked before I submit them.
Do you understand you have to stay completely neutral with all reports? (Your report can't have any OOC or IC bias towards a specific group.)
Yes! Even if that wasn’t a requirement, I would have done so anyway. Being unbiased is what makes a reporter, in my opinion.
Do you trust that you will be able to stay active and complete the monthly quota?:
Summarise what you imagine work as a reporter is:
Yes, I believe I can! I could honestly knock out all the reports in one night if I really sat down and got to work. Researching stuff is another thing I love to do, so researching AND writing? Yeah, I’ll be able to keep up with the monthly quota no problem!
I believe that working as a reporter will consist of generating stories that the Karakura public finds interesting, both icly and oocly. For the icly portion, I feel as though interviews and interactions with the general public would help in finding out what they want to hear about most. That way, it doesn’t get boring for them to read stuff they don’t care about. For the oocly portion, I would probably ask around and see if there’s anything in particular that seems to be coming up so that I can make a report about that! I of course don’t want to make it sound as if I think being a reporter is going to be the easiest thing I’ve ever done, I know it will have its’ challenges, I’m just excited to hopefully be apart of it!

IC (In-Character) Information:
Treat this section like it is your own character answering it
A tall, brawny, tattoo’d man walks into the station, his shoulders back, posture straight as a board, with a heavy, lengthy stride. Running down his shoulders was long, chocolate colored hair that seemed well kept, matching the rest of his appearance. He offers a bright smile, radiant as the sun itself and a handshake to whomever stood before him, revealing a burned, scarred palm and forearm.
Full Name:
Sat before the interviewer, crossing his legs at the ankles. “I’m Domenico D’Amore-Stark, it’s a pleasure to meet you!” His thick Italian accent caught in his words, carrying them like a gentle, flowing stream. A gaze that seemed so composed it was as if he were a maestro, conducting himself with nothing but confidence.
Preferred Name/Nickname and Title (e.g., Ms, Mr)
His eyes stayed locked onto the person before him, offering a smile that gleamed like the sun had dropped into his lips. A warmness that didn’t match his scarred, tattoo’d appearance at all. “You can just call me Nico, I’m not one that cares too much for formalities.. Though, Mr. D’Amore or Mr. Stark would be fine too. Anything is fine, really. Whatever is most comfortable.”
Current Age (25+):
He laughs, shining that smile still! “I’m 25!”
Past job/work experience:
He pauses for a moment, looking up at the ceiling as he ponders. “I’ve worked a lot of places. A few odd jobs in Italy and Korea to try and provide for myself and my family. Most of them were construction.. House cleanings.. Physical labor, for the most part.” He shifts his position in his chair before continuing on. “I worked an internship at a news station forrr… a little over a year when I was in Korea. My university set me up with it, so I all but jumped at that opportunity.” He lets out a hearty, deep laugh! “In Karakura though, I’ve been working at that store.. Pinkumo. I enjoy it a lot and my boss, Royki, he’s a pleasure to be around. Quiet, but still a joy to work for.”
Degree/qualifications:
“Degree? Ah, as I mentioned, I attended University in Korea. That internship was set up because of my majors. I doubled in communications and journalism!” He presents that smile once more, beaming to the interviewer!
Nationality and born location:
Nico seemed to light up even more at that question. He must be proud of where he’s from, judging by the way he responds. “I was born in Volterra, Italy. My nationality matches that. Italian!”
Phone Number:
“030-357-9564” He spews the number out in a methodical way, seeming like he had it memorized to a T.
How would you describe yourself in under 150 words?:
He shifts his posture, leaning back again to stare at the ceiling as he thinks on the question for a moment before finally looking back at the interviewer, answering with nothing but confidence. “I like to think that I’m very personable.. always finding something to talk about with someone no matter what. I’m the type that likes to keep things interesting, I can’t stand just sitting around doing nothing, especially with other people. Sitting in silence with someone is a nightmare for me.”
What are you interested in writing about? How will you achieve this, and would you consider going out of your comfort zone?:
He again ponders on those questions. Not for as long though, he already knew exactly what he was interested most in. “The main thing I’m interested in writing about is probably.. Mental health. It’s something often overlooked here, or well, everywhere.. But especially here. So many people struggle with it but not many people do anything about it. I’d like to bring awareness to it and explain the options on what to do if you experience this or that.” He pauses, nodding along as he continues his response. “I absolutely would go out of my comfort zone. It keeps it interesting that way!”
What are your expectations for the job?:
“My expectations for this job are that I write at least one report every month. I also know we do the broadcasts, but on that one I’m not entirely sure how many of those we need to do? Though, I’m hoping I’ll learn that sooner rather than later!”
Do you have a criminal record? If so, list the crimes below:
A shake of his head follows his words. “Nope, none at all.” Short, sweet, and to the point!
Fluent Languages (Underline your native):
“I speak fluent Italian and Korean. I’m getting better at it, but Japanese can still be a bit tricky for me.. So please correct me if I make a mistake.”
PROMPTS:
You will have to write two reports about a topic of your choice. Here we can see how pronounced your writing is and how creative you are. Use your own formatting and your own report idea. (If you're found plagiarizing an actual report or another applicant, you will be denied.)
D’Amore nods, shifting himself once more in his seat. “Do you have a pencil and paper?” He asks, getting straight to work once they were handed to him!
#1 - General report. Report about a topic, informing players about an event or significant issues to Karakura.
Pencil to paper.. Pencil to paper.. He scratches down his thoughts..
Mental health challenges such as stress, anxiety, depression, and emotional burnout are increasingly common in modern society, Karakura especially, judging by the consensus I gathered from my interactions with the public here. Conditions like Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder affect millions of people worldwide and while these conditions can significantly impact daily life; effective coping strategies and professional support from psychiatrists and other mental health professionals can help individuals manage symptoms and improve overall well-being.
Healthy lifestyle habits play a major role in maintaining emotional stability. While they might not be a ‘solve-all-your-problems’ solution, they can certainly aid in getting you to a better state of mind. Physical activity releases endorphins that improve mood and exercises such as walking, running, yoga, or strength training can reduce stress and anxiety. Following that, poor sleep is strongly linked with depression and anxiety symptoms. Getting in a routine of going to bed and waking up at a reasonable time can provide a bit of relief. This seems to be a big problem here in Karakura.. Too many times have I overheard someone discussing how they never sleep..
Social support from friends and family members is another step to overall better mental health. While it might seem difficult, reaching out to the ones you love and hold dear can mean a world of difference. Never fear seeking out support from the people around you.
One way that has helped millions of people around the world though, and that nine times out of ten provides positive results, is seeking therapy. A scary word for most, yes, but therapy is always better than struggling through something alone. A the****** and psychiatrists can give you unbiased support, providing a perspective on things that you might have never thought of. They can also help in finding a coping strategy that works best for YOU. No one person is the same, so tailored coping strategies will be way more effective than ones used for generalized feelings. Just because one person feels this way or that, doesn’t mean that you do.
My advice is to go to the Karakura Hospital and talk to one of the psychiatrists they provide. They are wonderful people and would be glad to have a discussion about what is right for you.
#2 - Interview. It's important to have well-rounded questions. Create your own interview with ten questions or more. And answer them yourself.
What does “good mental health” mean to you personally?
“Good mental health” is an umbrella term. There is no real definition of what can be “good” because everyone determines that differently. For me personally though, “good mental health” is when I am in a constant happy state. Free of most, if not all worrying thoughts. Where I can get out of bed in the morning and not feel like I'm dragging myself out, but jumping out because I want to get up and start my day..
What are some common signs that someone might be struggling with their mental health?
Common signs that someone is struggling is if they stop doing things that they love and either becoming more reckless or shut down completely. Becoming someone completely different than they used to be.
What activities or habits help you maintain your mental well-being?
Being active outside, playing games of basketball and volleyball often helps me relieve stress. As well as going to the gym on a daily basis. Talking with my friends and family every day is also extremely helpful.
Do you feel people today talk openly enough about mental health? Why or why not?
Absolutely not. I rarely hear people discuss their mental health and quite frankly, it’s worrying. So many people are struggling in silence because the social norm now is to bottle everything up. Which, of course, is not healthy in the slightest.
What are the biggest stressors people face in everyday life today?
The biggest stressors that I have noticed are relationships. Almost everyone I know is having a relationship issue, whether it be romantic, platonic, or familial. It seems to be a trend, especially here in Karakura, that relationships take a turn for the worse. That’s not saying that everyone is dealing with that, but just by the people around me that I’ve spoken to, that seems to be a big, if not THE biggest stressor.
How comfortable do you feel talking about your mental health with friends or family?
Personally, I am extremely comfortable with it. Personally, I feel that we all create such a safe space for one another that it makes it easy to come out and have a discussion without fear or worry of what someone might say.
What are some misconceptions or myths you’ve heard about mental health?
Some common misconceptions that I’ve heard about is that mental health doesn’t matter. It really, REALLY does. It’s not something that should be ignored or disregarded. It deserves just as much attention as physical health and wellbeing.
How does social media impact mental health in your opinion?
Social media certainly impacts mental health, and most of the time, it’s in a negative way. If you scroll through OnRain right now, you will see in the feed so many posts and almost all have someone criticizing or mocking someone. That takes a toll on people after a while.
What barriers might prevent someone from seeking mental health support?
This can go back to the social norms. I believe that social norms being as they are right now, is one of the biggest barriers that people have about seeking out mental health support. It’s hard to get past social norms like that when they are drilled into us and screamed in our faces from the time we wake up to the time we go to bed.
What role should schools or workplaces play in supporting mental health?
Both schools and workplaces should provide options to the people in their care or at least provide an environment where people feel comfortable.
What are healthy ways people can cope with stress or anxiety?
If I were to list all the ways I have in my head, I would be here all day. So, I will just provide the ones that I have personally used. The first being to interact with friends and family on a daily basis, just to get that needed social interaction. Another way is to seek out a psychiatrist. The one I am currently seeing is wonderful, and talking things out with her is a blessing. Overall though, just getting into a routine and choosing a healthier lifestyle is one way that I keep stress and anxiety to a minimum.
What changes would you like to see in society regarding mental health awareness and support?
The main change I would like to see in society is a change in the social norms and stigmas about it. I know I’ve mentioned that quite a few times, but it is something that I personally feel is draining the life from our society. I would like to see a world where we can openly talk about our mental health without having to feel ostracized from society.
With that, his pencil went down. Clattering against the table. He offers a final smile to the interviewer and hands his papers over. “I hope to see you again soon, thank you for this opportunity.” He says, turning to walk out the door!
