Previous warns/kicks/bans:
One warn for OOC in a cell phone call, self admitted, one time only. This was prior to my ability to MSG players and it was during the troll raid that lasted like five hours when I was only a Mod. My friend on the server could only reach me via phone, she was concerned because I was exhausted and stressed and so I did what I did and owned up to it. Dumbrarere was present about halfway through, I confessed to him and was warned accordingly even though he would have had no way of knowing (I was clearing my conscience and being honest). I cannot stress enough the OOC comment only happened once, one time, just because she was worried for my well being, mentally and physically since it lasted hours.
Shop wanted:
Cellular Phone Shop
(Name under construction, was thinking "Perfect Cell" as a nerdy joke some might catch onto however having just kinda talking with friends it sounds like "Five by Five" might be the better choice which is military jargin for five bars out of five bars, i.e. perfectly clear reception like on a phone).
Why do you want to own a shop?:
I've noticed quite a lot recently with the school year starting up that players are having a harder time finding a place to buy cell phones. Often times they buy them from street vendors who charge extreme prices (sometimes 20k per phone). I understand school and real life takes top priority among all else. This still also impacts shop workers who cannot open places like BlockyMart, 11/7, or Happy Pills as frequently as most would like. As a result of this, most players have expressed concern that getting a cell phone during the week is nearly impossible and even on weekends it's a luck of the draw. I wish to alleviate both of these issues by specifically selling cell phones in a small hole in the wall shop (similar to the shoe store at the base of an apartment building). This product I wish to sell, coupled with my almost constant activity (sometimes I am on all day) means cell phones will be far more readily available for all players at all times. It is in consideration of all these factors and my dedication to the community as a whole that I feel I would be aptly fit to run such a shop. I am confident I can maintain the responsibility of providing a very valuable product that all players need at some point in time, usually the first thing they get. So believe it or not, this is more about the community than simply making money ICly.
What do you plan to do with the shop?:
I plan to run the shop in an attempt to make street vendors not pedal their products for such a drastic amount and exploit new and even veteran players. I want to take this shop into a direction where at least once a day for several IRL hours the store will be open and players can freely come in, pick out a cell phone in a color that they desire, and go about their day without a care in the world. All while paying a fair price. My goal would, as stated above, to be a smaller shop given my limited product line and likely be placed on the base floor of an apartment building or some other such structure to conserve space. Maybe even right beside the shoe store. I'd like to add that since many people in real life plug headphones into their actual phones for music, it may also make sense to offer headphones of some sort down the line and maybe even custom model headphones. Perhaps at some point it could expand into a more urban style store with other edgy products of sorts. However as it stands, Cell Phones would be the business model without a doubt. While not necessary, we could set up a few chairs and tables to hold maybe four to six people or so and have the store be a bit of a hang out spot while it's open. Or a hang out lobby area for the fellow punk rockers that's always open and the store itself which would be locked, just ideas.
How will your shop be unique?:
The unique aspect of the shop will be the mentality of the employee and owner as it would be a smaller shop and likely make it for more of a cozy environment for players to interact with us on a regular basis. Since I'm on so often and could have the shop open multiple times a week easily, this means lines would be relatively short and create that more comfortable close atmosphere. The other aspect that would make this shop unique is unlike other shops which offer cell phones we would offer them based on color as well without the player having to explicitly ask. They will know immediately they can pick a color and find out if we're in stock or not. To make this even easier and more unique item frames could be placed on the walls to display what items we are actually selling in regards to cell phones and potentially future new cell phones or electronics should that become a factor. As a hole in the wall shop, run by a Punk Rocker, it would also create a very urban vibe (much like the shoe store) which would create an entirely unique dynamic. Finally, the last thing I can say about the shop is the possibility of new phones (new phone models) which would give us not only more product to sell, but perhaps even being the only shop that offers certain new phone models that could get added in the future. Thus creating far more demand for such a store to be implemented and take off into the future. Lastly, as a self proclaimed Punk Rocker, I would intend to add a little spice to the shop by giving a sort of an urban feel to the interior, nothing drastic of course. Plus there is always that chance we may be able to sell headphones, custom ones of course, and maybe even hats that sort of represent the brand names of the phones or headphones, a sort of punk suave rock shop of electronics and goodies. However if other options were available, I'd be more than happy to make the models myself. However, as it stands cell phones alone are presently my top most priority with the shop, along with the rocker interior that's slightly edgy (just a bit, but a very different aesthetic to all other shops, think of a very toned down version of Hot Topic, Spencer's and an Electronic's Store. That is to say a place to buy phones, but with those unique punk twists no one has used before. Very important). The most important aspect honestly is that this store will look very different on the interior than any store before it, again, think of a Best Buy mixed with a Hot Topic to a certain extent. One thing I would love to do is decorate the store with custom punk rock style paintings and imagery and really just give this sorta pseudo urban vibe without going too far as to scare away the more posh / upscale customers. As mentioned above the idea of having a little lounge area could provide another hang out spot for people instead of just loitering around 11/7 but that's not the top on my list, more along the lines of sky is the limit possibilities and dreaming big.
How many employees are you planning to have?:
At the moment I think having one to two other employees would be ample. Having bounced the idea around with other people it sounds like many of them would be more than willing to hop on board and help sell some phones. I suspect three would be the maximum number we'd need, while the shop could easily be run efficiently just myself given the relatively small size and specific product type (much like how the shoe store is just for shoes for instance). Should the store size expand in the future for any reason (which is not my current goal as this is first, foremost and entirely a Cell Phone Shop) a third person could also be hired. However given how often it would be open I don't foresee the need for excessive staff presence.
Uniform Addendum: As a more urban youth style store, a full uniform is not something we are expecting to force on those who work with us. However we are considering one of two options that will identify us as workers, these are methods that have worked in similar IRL urban style locations such as "Hot Topic"to further help us stand out from the rest of Karakura's shop and be 100% unique and authentic to the city, which we feel is very important.
(1) A pin / button with store logo, colors or other identifiable mark on it. Very much like a name tag but more stylized and placed over the left breast of a shirt or jacket.
(2) A lanyard with an ID style card on it. This would contain the same information as the name tag, where it would either be a name, the store logo, or other identifiable marks. These lanyards will be worn around the neck and are seen often in many shops IRL that do not require full blown uniforms. (Lore wise, if the lanyard + attached card is what we go for, that would be required to clock in and clock out, but would not permit entry or exit if it was stolen, it would merely indicate when an employee starts and stops getting paid)
Additional Information:
- I have already spoken with Ryanark in regards to this being a new and not pre-existing shop.
- For what it is worth, since I am on so very often I see the community struggles with phones. When I sorta jokingly said IC "I should open up a cell phone store" every player and even people on Discord thought it would be a fantastic idea. This is not my attempt to sway a vote more of an echo chamber on what other people have said in regards to everything.
- Given my nearly daily time online to some capacity (often for many hours) I know for sure I could handle such a position of needing to be present to have a shop open as often as possible.
- The final addendum I'd like to add is to once again reiterate that I think the possibility for having new custom phones in the future sold solely at such a store would be a great idea. Or at least, some models only sold at that store while others are sold at the other stores. This is again, of course, if new cell phone models and designs are chosen to be added to the game which from all the models I've seen of amazing phones people have made I can only imagine it being a worthwhile set of items to add in and further customize your character(s).
