What's the title of your suggestion?:
Add /Warp Rivers to fish whitelist.
What's your suggestion?:
Exactly as the title says! I believe there should be a warp rivers command for fish whitelist. 2 of the animal types (not counting all of the axolotl variations.) listed in the fish whitelist are strictly freshwater irl! Meaning they do not live in the ocean and cannot live in the ocean irl.
I understand this may be seen as a sort of "useless" addition, but I really don't see it that way! Imagine being a fish here, near the stairs that lead up to the shrine.
Imagine koi chasing eachother and playing here! (which they do in nature!) or axolotls!
I believe the inclusion of this area for the freshwater animal types will add roleplay opportunities for people who have fish as a whitelist!
How will this benefit the server and community?:
This will add more use to the fish whitelist, being in the ocean is awesome for those who use saltwater types! but i think this would add more to the forest nature aspect of the game, imagine people with bear whitelists being able to roleplay with fish whitelists if granted KPS ! It'd add some freshness to animal interactions in the forest.
A lot of people base the animal whitelists worth on their ability to interact with human characters, I find this a bit strange! Especially considering that bears do not and should not naturally interact with humans irl, even though people in game break that realism! I want to add back this realism for specifically animal interactions. But, if we want to include human interactions as well, both of the animal types I'm mentioning are commonly kept as pets and DO have the ability to interact with people in an intelligent manner! Humans may also see the fish near the animal sanctuary and specifically the pond near the bamboo and entrance to the shrine stairs. I think it would add more livelihood to the forest if some people who rp'd as fish could be there.
I know the fish whitelist is acknowledged as "unused" and there aren't many players who roleplay as fish, however, this doesn't mean no one does! and this is ADDING to the possible uses!
SRP, as a server, is based in realism. At least for the most part, animal whitelists must be played accurately to the animals you're portraying in the real world. This means srp bears don't necessarily like or care about humans, and that cats and dogs aren't allowed on campus, or animals are kicked out of restaurants or stores. The point of animal whitelists is to be realistic and also play into being an animal!
To add onto my point, here are some things that these freshwater fish (specifically koifish, though axolotls do a lot of unique things as well!) do in the wild. Things that I believe can add to ones experience in roleplaying as a fish or interacting with humans as a fish!
Koifish can form connections with humans, they fully recognize and can differentiate the people who hang around them, in a positive light. These fish are extremely intelligent creatures, and can learn to associate different actions and sounds with feeding, like coming to the edge of a pond if they see someone start approaching. You can target train koifish in the real world, as well as teach them to jump out of the water. Koifish are very adapted to humans and socially understand humans = food. Recent research also suggests these animals to have cognitive thinking, fish in general are recognized this way! Koi fish ALSO have distinct personalities! This means they are much more dynamic to roleplay, and a lot of people don't acknowledge them as being able to do much. They really do hold more potential!
To put this into a roleplay perspective, imagine practicing training with a fish, it can both be a comical moment and a fun roleplaying moment! /roll-ing to outcome whether or not the koifish understands, because of their ability in language learning due to associating sounds and being able to recognize voices, you could even pretend you're training a fish to do something when you say a specific word. Imagine shrine maidens interacting with the koi near the entrance. In Shinto, Koi fish are deeply interwoven with beliefs about nature, spirituality, and culture. What other place would they be perfect to be besides near the shrine entrance? Koifish are associated with luck. People could pretend to toss food to the fish for goodluck. Koifish are also symbolic of friendship and love, making that pond the almost perfect place for them, it looks like an amazing dating spot! I just think theres a lot more you can do with these animals, and adding more realism to their location would help with that.
But fish being pets is not their only use in the wild! Fish bond by swimming and interacting with eachother, and are generally peaceful creatures. They actually often play "tag" together in ponds, chasing after one another, they're extremely playful creatures. And with birds + bears, they have a predator - prey relationship in the wild! Bears could pretend to be fishing in a more dynamic way, inrp they could "fight" in animal language. yelling at eachother and all that.
Of course I can understand the argument of "This can be done in the ocean" however, it does feel unrealistic considering these animals are much more likely to interact in these environments!
I know there are people who don't care about adding a sense of realism to these animals, especially because not many people research these animals for fun since they aren't big mammals, but I believe it'd be a fun way to interact in game! It gives people more of an excuse to play as fish, as well. They can interact with other players much easier this way. Not many people hang out at the ocean very often, but there are almost always people coming in and out of the forest. Even other animals. I fully believe this would add some depth to the animal whitelists.
I believe people don't use these whitelists to their fullest extent, researching the animals they are portraying and finding fun ways to incorporate or create roleplay scenarios with them. Not everyone wants to research, of course, and no one is required to, but i think this whitelist deserves more love and credibility! This is a great way to have people get back into these whitelists, and hopefully to see them more in game again. Animal whitelists are meant to add to the world and nature around them, I think that allowing them this location may help with both the visibility of the whitelist, and interactions.
I don't see many ways this could be misused, other than people trying to bug people at the fishing pond, but i believe a simple fix is that fish whitelist should not be allowed there. I don't personally see many fish going in a location where they acknowledge other fish die, so its more realistic for them to not be there anyway.
Also, sorry for the huge ramble! I know a lot of people don't care about the realism of animal whitelists as much as I do. ^^''
