Trivia
What subject are you applying to teach?: English.
What is your motivation for becoming a teacher?:
I’ve been involved in numerous classes and I love the way that teaching is approached on the server, and how the school is completely player run. I would love to be involved in the education of students, and to help mould the way that individual student’s experiences evolve as they progress! I am currently taking my A-levels and am taking both English literature and language as two of my subjects – it is a real passion of mine. I love to read and to learn – and so I would love to be involved in helping students to learn, and I believe that with my level of knowledge, I could do so effectively.
Do you understand that you are applying for the teacher role of UT & If your application is accepted, you may have to undergo teacher training?: Yes I do, and I would look forward to the experience.
What are the teacher class logs and why are they important?:
Class logs are one of the ways in which teachers can track which classes they have held – and can also be used as evidence to prove that the teacher is actively holding classes and being active on the server. They can also be used as proof for the teacher’s payment, so that the faction leaders know that the individual is frequently holding classes and living up to the expectations of the role.
As a teacher, what are the strict rules when being in a class?:
-Be respectful to both faculty and your classmates.
-Do not shout out, raise your hand to answer a question.
-Do not disrupt the class in any way.
-No food is to be consumed in the classroom.
-Devices are expected to be turned off during class.
-Do not cheat.
What experience, in general, do you have in roleplay?:
From 2016 to 2018, I was an active member on the server, as I never found another roleplay server quite like it, with so many active members. After 2018, I got busy with my studies and took a break from Minecraft in general; but I returned to the server this year. I have been having so much fun since my return, I wish I never left. I have also played on other servers, such as HavocMC, where, although it is not a roleplay server, a few players and myself engaged in regular roleplay, which I enjoyed. I have experience with romanceRP, detailRP, etc.
In detail, describe the ranking system of teachers:
- HD
↳ Meaning: Head of Department
↳ Description: The head of whichever subject they teach. Oversee all teachers of lower status within this subject, helping the UT teachers with their training and give permissions to NQT teachers to host lessons. HD’s do not need permissions to hold classes, as they are high up enough to have the authority to host classes whenever they like.
- QT
↳ Meaning: Qualified Teacher
↳ Description: QT’s also have permissions to host classes whenever they like. They don’t need guidance from their HD, as they are experienced in their job and know what to do with minimal help from teachers with higher positions.
- NQT
↳ Meaning: Newly Qualified teacher
↳ Description: NQT’s are new to karakura’s faculty, and therefore need guidance from teachers with higher positions than themselves, particularly HD’s. They need permission from HD’s in order to host classes, due to their lack of teaching experience.
-UT
↳ Meaning: Unqualified Teacher
↳ Description: The first stage a teacher enters upon acceptance, where have not yet undergone training, observe QT's classes to gain an idea of how to teach effectively, and teach under the supervision of QT's.
Teacher Knowledge
Present to us your knowledge about Teachers in-game and out-of-game, what purpose do teachers serve. What salary do they get? Include a paragraph about the way teachers teach, what they do in their spare time in general.
In the server, teachers are there to entertain students and promote story progression for the student roleplayers. In real life, teachers educate children, so that the student will have the knowledge and experience to do whatever they choose when they are older. In SRP, teachers earn ¥450,000, if they complete 15 classes a month, logging all of them. This salary can then increase to ¥500,000 if the teacher completes 10 additional classes. In real life, teachers in Japan earn ¥214,000 to ¥629,000.
Teachers can teach using a variety of different teaching styles, including hands-on learning, visual learning, and even game-based learning. It is up to the teacher which style they prefer and use, and many different styles are most effective with all different types of students, which is why it is important to use a range of different styles, to make sure that your teaching is accessible to all students.
In their spare time, there are several things a teacher could do: plan lessons, shop, roleplay with friends, do any extra work necessary, etc.
Why are teachers important to a SchoolRP server?: Teachers completely keep the server running during RP school hours – keeping students busy and involved and having fun. Without this servers’ teachers, the server just wouldn’t work properly, with them holding such a vital role. In my experience, teachers are great roleplay guides, helping all players learn how the server and the RP system works here.
What lesson planning system does the school work on?:
MoSCo system: (Must have, Should have, Could have).
Character Knowledge
Tell us everything you know about the character you will be playing in a few paragraphs. How does they look like? What makes them unique and different? What is their outlook on Students? What about the other teachers? What is their personality like? What are their plan for the future?
Miss Madeleine Rousseau
Appearance: Long wavy red hair, which she wears down most of the time. Her eyes are bright green and often framed by black eyeliner and mascara. She is 28 years old, and had a soft, feminine body, like the women in renaissance paintings. She is 5”10 tall.
Personality: She is kind and bubbly when in social situations but is quite introverted. She loves reading over almost anything, and enjoys spending time with her Fiancée, Sunhee. She has a passion for romance and art; poetry and literature specifically, and has written both poetry collections and novels in the past, some of which have been best-sellers. Growing up, she had to raise her younger sister Elise after their parent’s rocky divorce, and since has been set on becoming a teacher. She wants to be able to instil passion onto the younger generation, helping them to find their voices.
Plans for the future: In the future, Madeleine hopes to marry her fiancée and to start a family with them. She wants to be involved in helping a new generation of individuals to grow, people who fight for what they care about, and for what is right. It is her dream to grow old in a beautiful cottage in the countryside, owning a huge garden, with a few animals; satisfied with her life.
Scenarios
You find a gang of delinquents in the hallway cursing and swearing, what do you do?:
I approach the group and make them aware of the fact the language they are using is against the school rules, I would give them a warning, and detention if I catch them continuing this behaviour after they have received a warning.
No one in your class is listening to a word you say, what do you do?:
I would attract the class with a loud sound, such as dropping a book forcefully onto my desk; and would remind the students that they are here by their own choice, and ask them to be respectful of me trying to do my job. If this continues, I would ask for help from another teacher, or identify the students who are chatting the most, give them a warning, and then if they continue; give them detention after school.
When in the teacher's lounge, how does your character act?:
Madeleine is quite introverted, and most of her time in the teacher’s lounge would be spent reading or preparing teaching material. She is always happy to interact with the faculty, and whenever approached would be bubbly and funny - but would be far happier to relax with a book.
Provide at least 4 detailed /me's of your character inside a classroom:
/me Smiles at her students happily, while placing her books and coffee on her desk. “I hope that you all had a good weekend.” She sits down carefully on her chair, brushing off her skirt. “Shall we begin?”
/me Realising that some students aren’t paying attention, she crosses her arms and narrows her eyes. She rolls her sleeves up, sighing to catch their attention.
/me Walks around the classroom, passing the notebooks out to each student and smiling. “Today I would like you to write a poem.” She says happily. “It can be about anything you like - if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me.”
/me She listens intently to the student reading, feeling a sense of pride as they deliver the line of poetry flawlessly. “Excellent.” She'd sniffle when the student finishes reading.
Backstory
Childhood
Madeleine Luna Rousseau was born in Montemarte in Paris, France; where her parents Emmeline and Damien owned a small but successful bakery. She attended secondary school in the city, her younger sister being born when she was 6. She had a very good childhood, receiving a good education in a public school. She knew of her passion for writing from an extremely young age, where her primary school teachers would constantly give her stories to write. Her imagination was always overactive, and pouring it out into her stories helped her cope with her childhood nightmares, she was one of the most creative children in her class, constantly reading or writing.
Moving to Japan
When she was 14, her father got a job offer in Karakura, japan, due to his business experience before managing the family bakery. He, accepted, as this new job offered far more money than bakery life. Madeleine is now estranged from him, due to the pain he inflicted on her family – she can’t forgive him. She frequently sees her mother, having maintained a very close relationship with her.
Writing
Shortly after the move to Japan, Madeleine began writing stories on a larger scale, creating short stories and novels. She published her first short story at 16, and her first novel at 18. Due to the success of her writing, she was able to make enough money to move out of her father’s home and move into an apartment near the beach with Elise, giving them both a much happier life. Madeline continues feverishly writing, and has published 9 novels, soon to be 10.
University and teaching
Madeleine thoroughly enjoyed university, as she thrived in an environment where she was surrounded by others so actually wanted to learn, rather than people who were forced to. She achieved incredible grades, going on to complete a PHD, and was extremely happy with her progress.
