What shop are you applying for?:
Soleil Kumo [Restaurant]

Why do you want to become a Shopkeeper?:
I want to become a shopkeeper because I'm genuinely interested in contributing to the server in a way that feels more active, meaningful, and connected to the community. Taking on this type of role allows me to explore a different side of roleplay that involves guiding and building a strong team, shaping a fun and immersive environment, and creating a space that players feel drawn to. I've always enjoyed the idea of building a place where people can gather, spots that encourage conversation, spark new interactions, and give players different memories that they can hold on to. Running a shop gives me the chance to do exactly that. It's an opportunity to design an atmosphere that feels distinct, to craft experiences that support character development, and to offer a setting where roleplay expands to new friends or even old ones. Stepping into this position also allows me to learn more about the server's systems, understand how businesses operate behind the scenes, and take on the responsibility of managing a team. I'm excited by the idea of organizing staff, coordinating openings, and ensuring that every shift feels engaging. There's something rewarding about being able to support others, to help them grow into their roles and create a fun and free workplace that feels enjoyable. Beyond the mechanical stuff, I'm dfawn to the creative freedom that comes with running a shop, being able to shape it's identity and plan events/ideas that add something new to Karakura's daily life. Ultimately, I want to create a space players lok forward to visiting, not just because of food or items, but because it gives them an experience. A place that feels distinct from the city yet still fits right in. Becoming a shopkeeper gives me the chance to build something lasting, a location that contributes alongside the servers atmosphere, supports roleplay, and becomes a role that allows me to dive deep into creativity with dedication and enthusiasm.

What do you plan to do with your shop, and what makes it unique?:
1774771826843.png

I plan to transform the shop into a symbolic Red Lantern-style restaurant named Akai Sora (Red Sky). This restaurant will be inspired by traditional Japanese street-side food places that have that warm lantern light glow during the night. The design will focus on creating a cozy, welcoming environment that feels culturally set and visually appealing. What makes Akai Sora unique is the blend of tradition and modernity. The red lanterns will give the restaurant a nostalgic, comforting atmosphere with slight pink undertones and spring-themed accents to add toward the modern charm. The goal is to create a space that feels alive and where players can feel immersed in a fun roleplay building. The restaurant will also stand out through its roleplay detail. Staff will be trained to provide professional, immersive service, and the environment will be designed to encourage meaningful interactions. Whether players come for a simple meal, a date, a group gathering, or just to stop by, the shop will offer what is planned to be a memorable experience.

What will you sell in your shop?:
1774913898718.png
A simple mock-up menu, each category having a red lantern inspired name to keep with the theme of the restaurant. Other items will be added to the menu, but these are just a few things that could be sold within the restaurant.

How many employees do you plan to have?:
-Sora Manager: 2/20
-Lantern Servers/Mascot/Cleaner/etc: 15/20
-Omotenashi Hosts: 3/20

This will be subject to change over time and is just a basis.

How will you train/guide your staff?:
Training will begin with a structured orientation session. New employees will learn:
-Customer service expectations
-Menu knowledge
-Specific role responsibilities
-Maintaining professionalism during roleplay
-How to handle busy periods/events
These orientations will most likely be held ICLY depending on the time/circumstances. After some time, new staff will begin to shadow experienced employees during their first shift. This will help them understand the flow of the restaurant, how to interact with customers, and how to work as part of the team.

A Discord server will also be maintained for staff communication/applications. This will include:
-Schedules
-Announcements
-Event planning
-Menu updates
-Staff guidelines
-And more!
My goal is to create a supportive, organized environment where employees can all feel confident and prepared.

What qualities will you look for in employees?:
-Reliability and consistent activity
-Good/strong communication skills
-Respectful and friendly behavior
-Ability to detail roleplay/professional roleplay
-Willingness to learn and adapt
-Team-oriented mindset
-Positive attitude and enthusiasm for roleplay

Do you plan on having an employee uniform?:
Yes, the uniform will consist of the restaurant’s red lantern theme
1775015424161.png
While there will be a traditional uniform, staff will also be encouraged/allowed to alter the uniform to fit in comfortable ways and even add their own small designs to make it feel more personal.

What is the theme of your shop?:
The theme is a traditional Japanese Red Lantern restaurant. It blends the warmth of lantern-lit night streets with a modern, gentle aesthetic inspired by the spring season. The atmosphere will be cozy, inviting, and culturally grounded to recreate the beautiful scene of a culturally authentic Red lantern. This will create the space to feel nostalgic and refreshing.

Interior inspo:
1774912830708.png

While this isn't exactly how it will look, this is the general feel the restaurant is going to be aimed toward looking!

How will your shop fit the overall atmosphere of the server?:
The shop will contribute to the cultural landscape and visual charm of the server. It's ambient, lantern-lit design and traditional influences create an atmosphere that stands apart from a few of the modern structures around it, giving players a place that feels distinct and thoughtfully crafted. The gentle lighting, detailed decor, and consistency make it a location people can naturally drift toward when looking for a change of pace or a setting that encourages slower, more detailed and intentional roleplay. Akai Sora blends perfectly into Karakura's environment while still offering more of what the city has all around, a space rooted in heritage, storytelling, and community connection. By introducing another cultural point of interest, the restaurant opens up the variety of roleplay experiences available to platers, giving them a new backdrop for conversations, character development, and social interaction. It also provides a steady, dependable, safe place for groups of all kinds to gather, plan, and immersive.

How will your shop interact with the community?:
Akai Sora is designed to be more than a restaurant, it's goal is to become a gentle, steady presence within Karakura. A place where people can naturally gather and grow. The belief is that food is one of the simplest ways to bring people together, so it is meant to create a bridge between individuals, groups, and the city itself. The restaurant is planned to open its doors as often as possible for community focused events, such as seasonal celebrations, lantern-lighting evening, and cultural tasting nights that invite players to dive deeper into Japanese traditions in a relaxed, welcoming environment. These events aren't simple entertainment, but rather meant to create shared memories and give players a reason to return, reconnect, and build ongoing RP. Beyond events, Akai Sora interacts with the community through small, everyday gestures. Regular customers being remembered by name, favorite dishes noted by staff, suggestions completely open to ensure a sense of familiarity is set up to make the shop feel like a second home to many. Employees are encouraged to engage with customers in meaningful ways, not just taking orders, but asking about ones day, offering tea samples, or sharing small stories that make each visit more personal and attentive. The shop also aims to collaborate with other businesses and school clubs, offering catering for events, partnering for festivals, or hosting joint activities to strengthen the presence around the city. Whether it's providing a place for school clubs to gather, or simply being a quiet building for players who want a peaceful place to roleplay, Akai Sora aims to become a daily rhythm to Karakura. It's golden lit lanterns serve as a symbol of connection, guiding people in not just for a meal, but for a tie.

What is the backstory/lore tied to your shop?:
Akai Sora began long before it ever even existed in Karakura. Its origins trace back to a mountain village in Japan, a place where lanterns were more than just a simple decoration. They were symbols of protection, guidance, and the connection between the living and the spirits that watched over them.
Juéri’s family owned a modest restaurant tucked beneath a towering cedar tree that locals came ot believe was many years old. Every evening, red lanterns were hung from its branches, glowing softly against the bark. The lanterns were said to carry wishes of the villagers upward, their warm light guiding travelers safely throughout the night. Juéri grew up under those very glows, learning how the food her parents served had a strong way of bringing people together, and how a simple warm meal could change the course of someone’s day. Her grandmother, the original owner, taught her that a restaurant was never just a business, it was a sanctuary. A place where strangers could become friends, where stories were exchanged, and where the warmth of the lanterns could soothe even the heaviest heart. She would always tell her, “A red lantern is a promise. When someone sees its light, they know they are welcome and protected.”
When the cedar tree that once protected the lanterns was struck by lightning during a storm years later, the locals mourned the loss of connection. Juéri kept a small piece of its wood from when she was a child, believing that with it, the spirit of the place she loved would never leave. That cedarwood scent became a part of her identity, a reminder of home.
After moving to Karakura, Juéri struggled to find a place that felt like the lantern-lit streets of her childhood. The city was lively, bright, and communal, but it lacked the specific thing she longed for. So after she graduated from high school, she decided to recreate it herself. Using the last piece of cedar wood from her family’s tree, she carved a small charm and hung it inside the new restaurant she bought as a blessing.
Akai Sora was built around that memory. The red lanterns representing her family’s teachings, while the undertones of spring accent the cedar wood charm hung inside. Every detail, from the menu to the lighting, was designed to recreate the feeling of stepping into a glowing night street where time felt like it would slow down.
The restaurant’s name, ‘Red Sky,’ comes from the lantern colors themselves, along with the saying her mother used to preach. “When the sky glows red, the spirits walk with us.” It was meant to remind people they were never alone, even in their darkest moments.
Now, Akai Sora stands in Karakura as a quiet tribute to her family’s traditions. It is a place where warmth is intentional, where lanterns burn not just for decoration but as a promise. A promise that anyone who enters is welcome, listened to, and treated with care. Juéri hopes that the same comfort she once found beneath the cedar tree can now be shared with the people of Karakura.

How do you plan on making your shop welcoming?:
To make the shop welcoming, I plan to create a comfortable atmosphere that feels pleasant and soothing from the moment someone steps inside. The gentle glow of lanterns will guide players into a space that feels distinct from the rest of the city, while the red and spring-inspired interor adds a sense of softness that encourages people to slow down and enjoy their surroundings. Every detail, from lighting to the arrangement of tables, will be chosen to help customers feel settled, and ensure they are not forced into a rush. Staff will be trained to greet customers with genuine friendliness, offering attentive service that connects to customers, and help draw players deep into the roleplay experience. My intention is for the restaurant to feel like a safe place where anyone, no matter alone or with friends, can sit down and feel at ease without pressure or expectation. I want Akai Sora to become a spot where conversations can flow naturally, people can linger longer than originally planned, and where small interactions turn into meaningful moments. Over time, I hope the shop grows into a familiar location people return to not just for fod, but for the atmosphere, the interactions, and the sense of belonging it offers

Juéri stands at 5’2, a confident Japanese woman with a warm, earthy presence that makes her easy to approach. Her long brown hair flows naturally past her hips, moving softly with each step and giving her a grounded look. Despite her calm demeanor, there is a determined sharpness in her eyes. One that suggests she observes more than she speaks. Her expression is thoughtful, and she carries herself with a composed, almost serene confidence. In a crowd, she blends in easily, but still manages to draw attention to herself. A subtle softness, a sense of reliability, and a welcoming energy that makes people feel comfortable around her. She gives the impression of someone who would listen without judgment and speak only when her words matter.

Character’s Nationality:
Japanese

Character’s Marital Status:
Single

How does your character act in a professional vs. casual environment?:
{Professional}
In a professional setting, Juéri carries herself with confidence and a calm, collected demeanor. She speaks gently but with purpose, choosing her words carefully to maintain a respectful and professional atmosphere. Her posture is straight, her movements deliberate, and she keeps a stern, attentive expression that shows she is fully present. She listens more than she speaks, observing customers closely to anticipate their needs before they even ask. Even when the restaurant becomes busy, she remains composed, moving with a steady rhythm that keeps the environment peaceful rather than chaotic. She avoids raising her voice, instead using a calm tone and subtle gestures to guide staff or address issues. To her, it isn't about being loud and strict, but rather creating a space for the workers and customers to be comfortable, respected, and taken care of.

{Casual}
Outside of work, her demeanor is noticeably relaxed. She becomes more expressive, more open, and easier to read. Her smiles come quicker, her laughter lighter, and she allows herself to show a more playful, gentle side that she keeps tucked away during business hours. She speaks more freely, letting her thoughts wander into small stories or observations she normally keeps to herself. Around friends or familiar faces, she is collected, offering advice, listening intently, or simply enjoying quiet company. She still carries a similar presence, but without the structured restraint she utilizes while working.

Reason for wanting to open this shop? (Answer IC):
"
Well, for me, opening Akai Sora was less about business and more about creating a place where people could breathe. After moving to Karakura, I noticed how fast the city moved, theres a lot of people who rush around. I mean, I often found myself wishing for a quiet corner to just sit, enjoy a warm meal, and feel connected to something I knew. I had a lot more trouble than I thought finding it though, so ultimately after a while, I decided to build it myself. To me, food has always been a language of comfort. Shared meals can brighten even the darkest days, and providing that warm, welcoming environment can bring people together in ways words sometimes can't. Akai Sora is my way of offering that comfort to others, a place where anyone, no matter who they are or what they're carrying with them, can step inside and just relax. I want to create a restaurant that doesn't just serve food, but serves as a getaway refuge in this city. This is my way to give Karakura the warmth I once needed myself, and I hope that every person who walks through the door leaves feeling a little lighter than when they arrived."
