Trivia

What subject are you applying to teach?:
Mathematics

What is your motivation for becoming a teacher?: Honestly, I have wanted to become a teacher for quite some time now when I started playing SRP, but I just wasn't sure just yet that I would do a good job at it, and have been putting off my application for some time. OOCly I have done several mini teaching roles, most notably teaching computer science bite-sized topics to a computer club, and teaching a non-native friend of mine English, and helping another friend with Math. In real life, I have also thought about that teachers are a very cool profession, whereby they give out knowledge that they have to teach others, and I believe that teachers are a great honest profession. I took a while to think and when planning to this out so I hope that you can see it in my application.

Do you understand that you are applying for the teacher role of UT & If your application is accepted, you may have to undergo teacher training?: Yes

What are the teacher class logs and why are they important?: From what I've read, teacher class logs are logs that have to be logged on Discord, to prove that you have done teaching for a certain period, and from what time to what time. This can help people track how many classes you have conducted in the month, and can be used to monitor your activity on the server as a teacher. Your teacher class logs may be used to judge how much you get paid in the month as well, if you have sufficient class logs to claim for the extra bonus.

As a teacher, what are the strict rules when being in a class?:

1. Raise your hand when you want to speak
You do not want students to disrupt the class by being too noisy or rowdy that other students can't make what you are saying or doing.
2. Respect each other
No shouting or yelling at others, no insulting, no foul language. None of these should be done and displayed in a proper class.
3. No usage of phones
This is to prevent students from playing music in class or from being distracted by a phone call or text message while the teacher is teaching something.
4. Speak in Japanese only (or JSL)
This is so that we can all understand each other, between teachers and students alike, that we can all learn in a proper manner effectively.

What experience, in general, do you have in roleplay?: In general, I have seen roleplay videos on YouTube before, and I understand how basic roleplaying should be conducted, whereby you act out as a certain character. On SRP, I have a relatively diverse experience just from being a student role, being part of a family, a group, and have roleplayed with all the factions on the server, e.g. Teachers, Officers, Maidens, Governors, Doctors, and even player-run animals. I have also experience with how CombatRP and rolling system works, and how players should act realistically when facing a figure of authority e.g. misbehaving in front of faculty. I also have come across and participated in increasingly more roleplay with impromptu staff-run mini events in event zones. In the school, my character currently roleplays actively with many of the school faculty such as tutors and sometimes librarians.

In detail, describe the ranking system of teachers:
- HD
↳ Meaning:
Head of Department
↳ Description: The head of department one that is considered one of the senior experienced teaching staff, being the highest position within the teacher roster. A head of department would typically have the most experience out of all the other teachers in the school, and is one who helps to ensure good teaching practices are shared throughout the school. Heads of department may also at times help other teachers who have doubts in certain areas, and can help to guide teachers on how to do certain things correctly, as they the heads are the most experienced out of the bunch.

- QT
↳ Meaning:
Qualified Teacher
↳ Description: A qualified teacher is someone who is experienced and has been teaching for some time, it is someone who fellow teachers such as unqualified teachers and newly qualified teachers may look up to being someday, and thus is expected to behave like a proper teacher. A qualified teacher is the second highest ranking in the ranking system, and is recognised as having good skills to effectively host a class on their own without much hiccups.

- NQT
↳ Meaning:
Newly Qualified Teacher
↳ Description: A newly qualified teacher is someone who just passed the teacher training not long ago, and is able to host their own classes independently. These teachers are still relatively new but they should have sufficient experience by going through the teacher training already and passing it to be able to run a class properly. They are not considered qualified teachers yet, and only after a while with running classes and giving their best will they get promoted to one.

- UT
↳ Meaning:
Unqualified Teacher
↳ Description: An unqualified teacher is someone who just got accepted not long ago, and doesn't have the necessary training to fully roleplay and manage a class, typically these are teachers who are still undergoing teacher training. An unqualified teacher is not able to host classes on their own yet, and can only do things such as monitor classes run by other teachers. When teachers are in this role, this is their chance to prove to the faculty that they are able to create engaging and interesting classes, and are able to behave how they are expected when running the classes.

Teacher Knowledge

Present to us your knowledge about Teachers in-game and out-of-game, what purpose do teachers serve. What salary do they get? Include a paragraph about the way teachers teach, what they do in their spare time in general.

Teachers are people who help other people learn new things, and gain new knowledge on a particular subject or topic. For example, there are teachers at school to teach students of a class, these teachers typically have their own specialisation whereby they teach only and focus only on a particular subject. To teach someone effectively, you have to really understand a certain topic, to be able to teach others, and you have to know what you are teaching. Teachers in-game the way they teach by typically following a lesson flow, for example, whereby they introduce the class to a new topic, and they may talk about and get the class to share about the topic, then they might also have a mini quiz at the end to check the classes understanding, this is the standard that some teachers may do to teach their classes. Some may even choose to incorporate things such as getting students to come up one by one to answer questions, or even walk around the school to observe plants for a science lesson. The base salary they get is 350,000 yen for completing a minimum of 10 classes in the month, and you are able to claim a bonus of 50,000 yen when you complete 5 more classes to make a total of 15.

Teachers serve a very important purpose at a school as they are essentially what students face most of the time, they are people who students come to keep themselves on track on a particular topic, and they help students learn and grow more as a person through their teachings and experiences. What teachers do in their spare time may vary from teacher to teacher, but in general, they would be preparing new topics and new lessons and thinking of how to formulate the next lesson plan, some might be preparing students for an upcoming exam or marking work that was given during a particular class that was handed in by the students. Teachers are quite busy in their lives and I respect them for teaching and doing what they love.

Why are teachers important to a SchoolRP server?: To a SchoolRP server, I feel that teachers are very important as they are most probably the ones representing the server to new players who join, and having good interactive teachers will help in retaining players to keep coming on. To me, when I first joined, I really liked the teacher concept and that was what initially made me stay on the server, which I am glad as I met a lot of great friends here. Side note aside, I feel that teachers are what help form a part of the SchoolRP community, as they give students who want to learn someone to roleplay and have lessons with, students who want to mess around someone to roleplay and get the thrill of misbehaving in front of a teacher, and as well teachers add that small touch to an effective school system.

What lesson planning system does the school work on?: MoSCoW, an acronym for must-have, should-have, could-have, and won't-have, which helps people to prioritise what is to be included in a lesson. To be honest, I have not heard of MoSCoW before, so I had to search online to find out what it means and to find examples to fully understand it, but it seems like a good tool to be used in general when planning, specifically in teaching it can help effectively ensure that lessons are carried out the way you plan them to, for example, it can help to determine what certain topics are crucial to be gone through in the lesson (must-have), and you even have a column for (could-have) for things that could happen, but are not necessary.

Character Knowledge

Tell us everything you know about the character you will be playing in a few paragraphs. How does they look like? What makes them unique and different? What is their outlook on Students? What about the other teachers? What is their personality like? What are their plan for the future?

Alo Martin has an slim look to his body, he walks with a straight and upright posture, and has a short haircut on his head. He currently is at the height of 5ft 9, and typically can be seen wearing one of his few outfits walking around the school. The teacher might be seen walking around school with a drink in his hand, and smiling to students as he walks along the halls. He likes to talk and hang out with people outside of conducting classes. He doesn't swear or curse himself, but it doesn't bother him much when others do, except when it comes from students, as he doesn't want them to grow up used to cursing or swearing. He is not easily affected by others such as bullies, and tries to brush people off when they try to talk bad about him. He believes that every student is nice on the inside, and even if they are really not, they can change and become nice.

Alo is friendly towards the other teachers and the other school faculty, he can be seen often chatting with the tutors, nurses or caretakers, and might even offer a drink or two. He likes working alongside them and enjoys their company. He has a kind and warm personality and wishes to make people happy. He always likes to look on the bright side of people, and trusts that people are kind and good. He has settled down and currently has currently no other plans for the future other than being a teacher, he believes that as long as he works hard and be there everyday with people, they will be there for them too, and plans to work there until he retires.

Scenarios
You find a gang of delinquents in the hallway cursing and swearing, what do you do?:
I would first ask go up to them and ask them to stop cursing and swearing. I would explain to them nicely and remind them that they should not be saying these words to each other, and try to stop all of them from saying things like that. If they were to continue, my character would warn them in a more sterner voice to stop and that this is getting out of hand, and to stop the matter from growing into something bigger, as something like this cannot be considered the norm for our school.

No one in your class is listening to a word you say, what do you do?: First, he would see what is happening first. If the students are being distracted by another singular situation such as students fighting in class, I would have to unfortunately pause the class for a little and deal with the situation first. If all the students are talking amongst themselves, I would tell them, and raise my voice louder if I have to to get their attention back to the class. I would tell them that they should behave while in class and to state that one of the rules in my class is to respect each other, and that by not listening to what I have to say, they are not doing the right thing.

When in the teacher's lounge, how does your character act?: My character would talk and mingle with the other employees talking about how their day was, and be concerned about whether they had a good night's sleep or food yet. If he is busy with something, he may be busy with things such as marking students' papers. In the teacher's lounge, my character might also choose to gossip with the other employees about their personal lives, and try to build a good working relationship with all of them. Before leaving the lounge, he would typically also cheer the other employees on for the rest of the day, and wave as he walked out.

Provide at least 4 detailed /me's of your character inside a classroom:

/me
would carry a tall stack of books as he exited the closet room, and walked slowly, face tilted up looking towards the tall mountain of books, trying not to drop any of them as he moved towards the teacher's desk. He plopped the heavy stack of books on the desk with a small THUD on the table, and reached his hand to the first one on the top to review what was to be handed out to the class today.
/me would walk step by step slowly throughout the classroom, his head would turn left and right as he walked, as his eye looked down on the assignments that the students were writing on, taking note of students who were attentively doing their work, and smiling brightly as he walked along the aisle.
/me faced the board and started to begin wiping the whiteboard with the duster, before taking a white chalk from the table and drew 9 oranges and 4 apples on the board, he would seem excited and pumped for the topic to be taught as he turned back to towards the class, "Can someone tell me what are these?" he asked.
/me walked towards the group of two in class that were talking amongst themselves, his heavy black shoes could be heard audibly each step he took, when he stopped in front of them, he would stand in a tall firm manner and crossed both of his arms. His face would carry a fierce and fearful look, as he looked down towards both of the students, waiting for an explanation.

Backstory
Alo was born and was raised in Japan, where he lived a peaceful life while in the city. He liked to play and hang around as with his siblings when growing up. He was shy at first and didn't have much of a social circle when in school. He liked it most when he was in his small friend group and didn't like being with strangers much. He was sent to preschool and then later into primary school. He was shy and introverted and didn't like the idea of leaving and being apart from his family at home, so he didn't really enjoy time at the primary school.

Fast forward a few years later, he scored okay in the examinations and got into Karakura High School. He still didn't like the idea of school, but here he had his siblings with them this time, he would play and hang out with them, and they even introduced their friends to him. This really helped him grow outside of his comfort zone and be more comfortable around other people. He still liked being around the people he knew. He liked the teachers there as well, as he found them kind and understanding, although some of the teachers left while he was studying, he still remembers them dearly.

In the new school, he would like to play all sorts of activities such as sports with his friends, especially his favourite sport was volleyball. He liked playing with them. Sometimes Alo would miss his friends. Alo had a good relationship with the school faculty and attended a lot of classes during his time in high school. He was inspired by the teachers who were full of energy when teaching and at the time it felt like they knew everything, and that felt cool to him.

When he ventured into college, he found out and took a double major in business & computing so that he would be able to better support his future family when he grew up. He studied hard and became very exhausted at times. He wanted to do well so that he could find a good job in the future. He met a lot of other people there too, such as amazing tutors from the tutor room who always liked to help him and kept him away from bullies, which made him really touched.

He graduated college in 2018 and went moved overseas to work his first job in the IT industry. Although it was paying well for him, he missed the high school and all the memories there. He remembered how the teachers would be so supportive towards him during lessons, and he missed the employees too. He saw that the school was hiring and he sent a resume to the school via snail mail. When he got accepted, he was in tears of joy. He sold all of his belongings and booked the next flight back to Karakura to meet his family. He was going to become a teacher!
