Well of course you can fight with anything, I know that. But does that count as I’m armed if I equipped a Frying Pan? I don’t think equipping a Teddy Bear count as armed.

Any item can be a weapon as long as you don't use it in a 'Power-Gamey' type way. If you smack someone in the face with a plastic weapon and expect it to cut their head off. No.
