CHAPTER 1 | "Shirakawa"

Yamamoto Junichi later re-named Arthur Joseph Herrington was born in a small village called Shirakawa. Shirakawa is a village located in Ōno District, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. Yamamoto was raised there during his childhood by his Grandfather. His Grandfather was the Kannushi (Gods Employee, Shinto Shrine Carer) so Yamamoto was brought up very strict following the Shinto beliefs. Yamamoto had a childhood friend named Hiraoka. Hiraoka was brought up in buddism so the families thought they could not see eye to eye, but the respect both families had for either religions allowed them to closely bond with
each other. Yamamoto noticed that many of the family members of Hiraoka called him Yamamoto Shihi, his grandfather explained that it is his side of the familys last name and that Yamamoto took on the last name of his father. Yamamoto never knew his father and only knew his mother for a short time before she passed away.

(This is a photo of the rail track that goes through Shirakawa. Taken from a photographers page online)

Everyday Yamamoto rode to school on his bike, the village was quite small but the school was all the way at the top of the mountain. Him and Hiraoka would race up there every Wednesday and the loser would ride back down after school and buy the winner a refreshing drink. Yamamoto's school life was very normal, he had outstanding grades from the rest of the children, but Hiraoka was close 2nd to Yamamotos grades they were both seen as gifted children with the ability to learn fast, and be fast on their feet. Yamamoto and Hiraoka took on jobs in the summer, although at this time they would only be 11 - 13 they took on strong jobs like dog walking, cleaning up outside shops and helping put posters up, they were taught that they have to work hard in life and things won't always be free like most things are as children. They always took everything as a competition and they would both see who could make the most amount of money during the summer. Although in the village there was a railroad track, Yamamoto and Hiraoka both have never seen a train pass by, Hiraoka claimed she had seen a train pass by but never caught it to see it ride by, both children were strictly brought up in just the village and the closet city was
Komatsu. One day while Yamamoto and Hiraoka were riding home they came home to their families waiting outside, it seemed that the family decided to go out on a trip to Komatsu to see the new technology of the new world. Yamamoto and Hiraoka were very excited.

(This photo was taken on a phone of the city)

Yamamoto and Hiraoka were both stocked by the infrastructure of the city. The new tracks were shiny and clean, the cars were way more technologically advanced compared to the few people in the village who owned vehicles. The family went around the entire city, looking in the shops, the posters and the multiple restaurants. This is when the family explained that they will be coming to this city to advertise their services in the village, the village will be seen as accepting Shinto and Buddhism believers and the family requested that on the weekends that Yamamoto and Hiraoka were to help out, they quickly accepted.

The family began to advertise their village by praying to pedestrians on the streets and by bringing their village traditional foods made by residents of the village, Yamamoto and Hiraoka were mostly there to help out give flyers and to look cute. Hiraoka had always brought her backpack with her as she knew Yamamoto falls over all the time so she packs bandaids with her. Along with those she had her favourite plush fish with her. One day when the city was very busy Hiraoka dropped her flyers, Yamamoto quickly came to help collect the flyers while the rest of the members were talking to pedestrians, but there was no hope, the flyers flew across the streets and Yamamoto went to comfort Hiraoka, but through this time Hiraoka placed her bag down to pick up the flyers and it the bag was no where in sight. Without permission from the parents they both decided to scan the entire area looking through the streets, without noticing they did not know where they were...

Yamamoto and Hiraoka were now wandering the streets, it has gotten quite dark and they could see multiple people in suits stumbling through the doors of bars so Yamamoto and Hiraoka decide to go and take a detour. They quickly noticed a group of suited men coming from the backdoor of one of the establishments along with them was a man who was beaten, blood dripping from his face, one of the men noticed the two children and yelled at them, they both quickly ran back but were stopped by two other suited men. Yamamoto attempted to fight back while Hiraoka was too scared to move, she was crying for her plush fish, the two children were taken into the building, walking past the beaten man. They found themselves in a room with all the men, the room smelt of cigarettes and booze, the entire room was dimly lit. One of the men decided to come over and provoke Hiraoka, mocking her for crying, it was clear this man was drunk, but he decided to poke Hiraoka which hurt her, a shock went though Yamamoto and he went to attack the man, clinging onto his shirt. While the man was trying to get young Yamamoto off of his shirt the rest of his co-workers decided to sit around and laugh, through them laughing Hiraoka was screaming at Yamamoto to stop, the man threw Yamamoto to the table while Yamamoto was on the table he kicked the man in the face while crawling across the table tipping over glass bottles and plates. He would fall off the side of the table and while the man decided to crawl over the table, Yamamoto picked up a shard of glass and stood, looking the man in the eyes then quickly stabbing him in the eye. Blood poured all over the table and Yamamoto, the laughter in the room quickly died down in an instant, while the man was screaming in pain the rest of the group seemed concerned and worried. Yamamoto quickly felt a hand on his shoulder, it was a tall man but Yamamoto could not make out his facial features because of his tears, but could easily spot the Chinese writing on his neck, before Yamamoto could say anything he fainted.

Yamamoto woke up in a bedroom, it was very clean and the bed was very comfy, for a few moments Yamamoto forgot all that had happened. While scanning the room he spotted a man in a chair, cigar in hand and was reading something on his desk, Yamamoto quickly moved, this alerted the man. A chuckle came from the man while he was still reading, the man explain that his name was 'The Devil' and that Yamamoto had sinned awfully, 'The Devil' asked Yamamoto what his name was. Yamamoto stayed silent. 'The Devil' said that he would need to know his name to begin the process of redeeming his sins, but Yamamoto cut him off asking where Hiraoka was. 'The Devil' quickly told young Yamamoto that she was taken to another district in Japan to be trained. 'The Devil' explained that he wanted to train Yamamoto and allow him to redeem his sins, but again 'The Devil' asked what his name was. Yamamoto replied softly "Yamamoto. . Yamamoto Shihi. .". 'The Devil' chuckled, explaining that Yamamoto is a name for someone who is strong and cannot be moved even by the push of 1000 men, he asked Yamamoto if he feels that he could be like that one day. Yamamoto was stunned by the mans talking, he felt like he had known this man for so long and without Yamamoto noticing he got comfortable in the bed listening to what this 'Devil' had to say..

CHAPTER 2 | 'The Red Devil'

Ringing. . that is all that could be heard. . Yamamoto looked down at his hand. . taking another puff of his cigar. .He looked around the deserted street with broken glass to his right, taking a deep breath then dropping his cigar, pulling down a mask over his face. He quickly pulled over his back, taking out a sharp, detailed katana. . the door to his left then busted open with a single, unarmed security guard running out, the man screamed "Wait N-" but Yamamoto took a swing to the mans head, the katana sticking into his skull as blood dripped from his head. .

Yamamoto was apart of 'The Red Devil' offensive force for the Kokuryu-kai (黒龍会) family. He was one of the most skilled members of the force but had the worst temper. While the life of the man began to drift away his body dropped to the floor, Yamamoto, putting his foot on the mans shoulder, yanked out his sword, cleaning it with his sleeve, quickly after his fellow team-members came running out with money. "The fuck did you do?" one of the masked men screamed. Yamamoto stood there looking at his sword, a deep monotone voice came from the mask- "Did you get it all?" Yamamoto said. "Yeah but the fucking alarms went off the second we broke through the door!" Yamamoto was clam and collected, He quickly swang his sword around, placing it back into the holster on his back, the sound of sirens could be heard coming closer to their location, he then took out a old walkietalkie commanding the entire team to now head out of the operation. Yamamoto and 3 other masked men began to run, hoping over obstacles and cars, while 2 of the boys were laughing and high-fiving each other, the other masked man nicknamed 'Crow' asked Yamamoto where they were headed. Yamamoto explained that there was a drop off location to place the money just encase they are caught before bringing it back to the estate. 'Crow' whos name was actually Seto Kinzo. Seto Kinzo was also one of the few hand picked members of the Kokuryu-kai family to be brought onto the force of 'The Red Devil' offensive force. They all climbed up on-top of an apartment complex overseeing the entire city, hearing the sirens build, all of them took their masks off revealing young males, all possibly between 15 - 17. They all looked way too young to pull off a heist like this and they used that to their advantage, they all began to undress, taking off the hoodies and placed on a local schools uniform. .

Flash Back 2 Weeks Ago. .

Yamamoto would be sitting in a room with other young men around his age, the TV would be playing the news, Yamamoto would gaze his eyes upon the TV to hear. .

The news anchor explained that 4 young boys who attend a local high-school have been reported missing by their families. They explained that CCTV caught the boys being lured into an alleyway by the side of an apartment complex, while 3 of the boys listened and came in the alleyway, one of the remaining boys began to walk away, on the CCTV a masked man could be seen coming up behind the boy, dragging him into the dark alleyway.
The boys in the room with Yamamoto began to laugh, saying things such as "Hey look we made the news!" and "They were hard boys, glad we got them in the end". Yamamoto seemed to be the only one who actually remember that all 4 boys had to be terminated, but yet the boys are currently being held in one of the family safe houses.

CHAPTER 3 | "Curse of Junichi"

Yamamoto is out having a meal with other senior members of the Family. Although everyone is being talkative Yamamoto is silent, his eyes are directed towards the neatly placed and decorated lobster, he contemplates why death can be everywhere, how it can even be right in front of you in a family dinner. . *Snap* Yamamoto's eyes are now directed to Seto 'Crow' Kinzo who, just like Yamamoto are now both 19. Seto noticed that Yamamoto was doing that "thing" with his eyes again, Seto has always said Yamamoto has a look in his eyes when he is thinking deep and looks like he wants to kill everyone in the room, some of the group noticed Yamamoto finally looked up. Yamamoto from a young age suffered from NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) meaning he could rarely feel empathy for most things and found that his work is the best it can be, he could never leave anything undone and it had to be the exact way he planned it to be. With this Yamamoto found the ability to pretend to be social just so he fits in with the drunken seniors because Yamamoto can not get drunk.
Yamamoto was invited to a table with some very old offensive team members, While Seto loved listening to their stories Yamamoto could not bare to listen to their old ways of doing things. Yamamoto yawned, cutting off one of the seniors, he apologised and explained that he has to get up early in the morning, before he left he put his cut of the payment on the table, putting a piece of paper on-top of it writing; "Yamamoto Junichi" Seto looked at Yamamoto confused, questioning why he wrote Junichi instead of Shihi. Yamamoto looked down at the paper also confused. "Guess its an old habit. ." Yamamoto looked up at the seniors, they all looked at him with rage, one of the men asked "Your last name is Junichi?. ." Yamamoto explained that it is his last name by birth from his fathers side of the family.

Seto left the party out the back door, looking to his left he could see a beaten down Yamamoto with multiple stab wound to his arm, Seto ran to Yamamoto screaming for help from the other family members. Not so long word got around that Yamamoto Shihi was actually Yamamoto Junichi, and the Junichi last name was a cursed name in multiple Yakuza families, luckily for Yamamoto the Kokuryu-kai family did not care about the rumours of the Junichi name. It seems that the family Yamamoto was apart of owned a lot of money to many Yakuza families and was very well gifted in the skill of scamming top business men in Yakuza families.

Fast Forward 6 Months. .

CHAPTER 4 | "Yakuza"

Yamamoto yawned as he looked down the rest of the train that was taking him to their families HQ. Yamamoto and Seto were both going to be assigned to leading their own separate branches of offensive forces in multiple small villages ran by the Kokuryu-kai family. "The situation we're in is boring you, Yamamoto?" said Seto. "No, just knowing how easy it will be to get these dumb-ass kids to listen to us is what is boring me" Yamamoto replied. The train passed under a bridge, the entire room was filled with the sound of the locomotives' wheels clanking against the rusty old tracks, the windows showing darkness and all that could be seen was the reflection of a man. . a man th- suddenly the train came out of the tunnel, a bright light shone through the entire train, you could now again hear the other people in the room talking, laughing, drinking and playing stupid games. Seto looked at Yamamoto and asked "Did you know about the whole Junichi thing?" Yamamoto just looked at the floor, clearly giving an answer of "no" to Seto without even saying a word. "Do you think we'll get paid well for this?" Seto asked. "Look, as long as we do our job we'll probably get paid double than what we get now" Seto's eyes widened as he nearly choke on his drink- "Double?!"

Yamamoto and Seto, with the rest of the group came up to the estates gates, two men with holsters requested for all members to take off their shirts and suit jackets. After the men were searched they walked into the temple, and there stood the Leader of the family, 'The Devil'.
After Yamamoto began his training at the young age he was captured 'The Devil' quickly left his side, and never contacted Yamamoto ever again. As they all began to walk in more 'The Devil' looked at Yamamoto yelling "Yamamoto! My young friend!" Yamamoto was shocked that the man would remember him but clearly showed disgust towards the man. "You think kidnapping me, then leaving me for years is really a good way to make us 'Friends'" Yamamoto exclaimed while puffing at the end of his sentence, Seto who was standing next to him nudged his arm quickly excusing Yamamotos words by saying; "Sorry Sir! Long rides make Yamamoto cranky!" Seto and the rest of the group quickly bowed, but Yamamoto stood there, looking 'The Devil' in the eyes.

After Yamamoto and Seto got settled into the barracks they were quickly escorted by a team of men to one of the rooms off to the side of the estate, this is where their bodies would finally get marked. .

Yamamotos' body was now marked, He had his hair cut and he was cleaned from all the blood. He was now seen as a respected member of the family that will lead its forces for years to come. .

CHAPTER 5 | "The Red Devil Clan"

Yamamoto and Seto were now the commanders of the strongest offensive force for not only the Kokuryu-kai family but multiple other families all over Japans districts. They were named "The Red Devil Clan" They are known for their brute force, clean operation success and no mercy for any of their enemies. Seto was the brains behind most of the operation while Yamamoto was in charge the training and brute force of the entire Clan. Many family members respected the two for their efforts in the clan but many never spoke to Yamamoto as he would only ever show himself during important business meetings or out on the field. Yamamoto was known for spear-heading one of the greatest attacks on a rival gang, the entire estate was left in a bloody mess and only 3 members of the 'Red Devil Clan' was arrested. No investigation was put onto the mass genocide that was named "The Power of The Red Devil". More operations would come from the clan but it was becoming more clear that the clans power was no longer needed and the entire program was kept silent. The horrible acts the clan committed were to never be spoken of in the official side of the family business, Yamamoto and Seto were both relieved of their duty and were given full granted permission to take 3 years off of working for the family. Yamamoto and Seto both agreed to see eachother when they are next called to the family.

CHAPTER 6 | "Home. . ."

Yamamoto decided to attempt to find where he was really from, it had been so long he had forgotten all about his origins, he remembers the village name of where he was born so be decided to start there.

Yamamoto found the temple in the village that was said to have been ran by an old Shinto Priest, but he passed long ago. Yamamoto walked around the temple, no memories were regained while being there. He decided to walk through the main part of the village. While walking past a table gathered around by elder women one of them spotted Yamamoto, he stopped dead in his tracks as he saw the woman begin to cry, she slowly walked over to Yamamoto screaming "Where did you take her?! Why did you take my dear Hiraoka" That name stabbed Yamamoto through the heart, the name pierced his head like glass hitting the floor, a long stretching high pitched ring would go through his head, before he could collect his thoughts he could see the woman being dragged from him, the other women bowing to Yamamoto apologising for her behaviour. .

Yamamoto left the village the day later, he learnt that his family attempted to look for him and Hiraoka but they were never found. Yamamoto, with nothing to turn too requested to the family branch he was apart of that if he could be given another chance at life, another beginning with all this behind him. Yamamoto was granted permission, Yamamoto Junichi was now declared dead, Yamamoto was assigned in a nearby island and placed in the city of Karakura. Yamamoto decided to live his new life in this city, he quickly befriended the current family that controlled the district called 'The Herrington Family'.

Yamamoto was now an educator he was placed as the Academic Administrator for Karakura College. Yamamoto still remembers everything that had happened but he does not let anyone know of his past. .
