Dissociative identity disorder:
Aya is diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder. This means Aya can ‘switch’ between two or more alternate identities at random. Each identity can have a different name, mannerisms, physical qualities, etc. Some Identities have more major changes compared to others.
Aya’s known identities currently are as follows:
Aya:
This is Aya’s most neutral Identity and nothing specific stands out over the others with this one. This is when Aya is most like ‘herself’.
Fuyu/Winter:
Fuyu is Aya’s middle name and also happens to be the meaning of her alias of ‘Winter’ as Fuyu is the word for winter in Japanese. The Fuyu/Winter is seen as ‘overly energetic and happy’. In this Identity Aya will be seen not being able to sit still and constantly wanting to be doing stuff. She would also be overly excited over the smallest things. When 'Winter' is present she would also have trouble feeling any negative or sad emotions as she would be ‘taken over’ by too intense emotions of happiness. You might find Winter acting inappropriate during serious matters from her lack of feeling negative emotions.
Akuma:
Akuma is one of two ‘mean’ identities Emiko is known to have. Akuma functions in a way that can be harmful to others around her or even herself. Akuma can act out and hurt others without the realization that what she is doing is hurting others. Hurting people can include physically or verbally in whatever way she seems fit. Akuma is seen as the ‘mean’ identity.
Don’t get Akuma confused, she will not randomly act out and hurt anyone for no reason. But rather someone who thinks nothing for anyone else's feelings and only her own. Akuma is considered dangerous because when she gets physical in any way, she often resorts to extreme measures of handling things. Akuma is the identity least seen and is also the name of a malevolent fire spirit in Japanese, and translates to the devil in English.
Miruku / Milk
Miruku is the one known identity Emiko has where it seems she is an entirely different person. It is also the second and last identity that can be considered ‘dangerous’ right next to 'Akuma'. Miruku believes she is a successful EMS worker who is there to help anyone in need. If anyone is sick or in need of medical help she believes she can fix it. The reason this identity can be considered ‘dangerous’ is because of Miruku giving out false information. Some things she says can be completely wrong and can harm other people if they actually did what she said. If someone needed medical help Miruku might take it upon herself to perform whatever is needed to help the person in need of help. This can include attempting to perform types of ‘surgery’ without correct equipment or knowledge on what to actually do. This can of course lead to dangerous situations for others as she might not bring them to an actual EMS worker and can just make things worse. No matter what, Miruku always thinks she is doing things correctly. While Miruku can lead to dangerous situations, it's unlikely anyone would actually believe the things she says and let her attempt to do anything.
Dissociative amnesia:
Due to Aya’s personality disorder she also has dissociative amnesia. These are episodes that can last minutes to years where she forget about certain events in her life or forgetfulness of herself.
