Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
Teachers and professors alike are essential to the SRP network. There are a multitude of reasons why this is the case. The key factor is their impact on Greenies; when a newer generation player joins the server, they often look to Icons through YouTube videos and, most importantly, teachers. When I joined Schoolroleplay, I myself was inspired by an art teacher, Alistarstruck. As a person on this server, I'm a semi-ideal specimen for what inspiring a greenie creates. As a greenie I was always passionate about teaching and other school faction-related activities; this was boosted by inspiring teachers of my early SRP experience, such as Florida Vibes and Alistarstruck. These figures inspired me and many others to apply for the teacher faction and other school-related factions. Another reason for teachers' importance in the network of SRP is simply their core in the server itself; they are ingrained into the server's way of life and how the server should operate! To add onto this, this server was built upon the idea of a school, and that creates a real importance around them as they create a base layer for the future generations of the server; without them, in a way, the Victoria sponge of the cake would completely collapse. This multi-layered server is heavily reliant on these teachers, and they are key to the server's future development. Without teachers on the server, the chances of the survival of the server would be minimal, and that's why teachers are required for the server overall. Another importance to teachers is that they fund the servers' entertainment. A massive part of what you are instructed to do as a teacher AND professor is to entertain your students; your job is not to teach but to provide a performance. Without the teacher and professor role, a majority of the school day would be extremely boring. Within the in-character section of the server, the teachers provide a vast educational experience and give the students inspiration on what to do in college and further in life.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?: Yes
Do you agree to undergo teacher training if your application is successful?: Yes

In-Character Section

What's your character's full name?: Tomas Conán
What is your character's nationality?: Scottish
What is your preferred subject to teach?: Design Technology (Culinary)

Describe your character:
Tomas is an intriguing soul. Born with a fiery temper, the man would be sometimes described as a sea of flames, sometimes cold, but mostly energetic and passionate about his craft. Tomas walks with a stride of pride as his face is as serious as a parent's. His personality could be described as intriguing but flat in colour and personality. The man typically is seen in his white chef apron with a wool-knitted jumper, its brown mushy aurora of shades shining upon his colleagues. He always seemed to be agitated as he moved around his kitchen with a passion of fury, as he never gave up on his passion. Standing firm at the grand height of 6'2", the man's wrinkles would show as he had a stout and firm expression plastered on him. His skin was as pale as ice as his abyss onyx hair glimmered in the daylight in front of you. He'd stare at you with dead, macabre-like eyes as you stared upon his features. His build was a lean but brittle figure as his silhouette stared upon you.

What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
Tomas' look on the students is a simple relationship; there are no favourites. It is skill or be disqualified from his kitchen of learning. He'd commonly hold no favourites or bias against the students as a whole. He views them fully as young chefs and cooks; they come to learn, and he provides nothing more. He strongly believes that all students are capable of doing great things, and if they are unable, then they must be taught in a calmer demeanour. He believes strongly in logic and an accurate amount of honesty. If a student has messed up a dish, he appreciates honesty. His expression can only be described as mediocre when in front of a new student. Treating teaching as a step to provide for his later chef career, the man had pursued Karakura for its talented cooking student base. He ensures that all students are capable of a task and able to comprehend the assignment, whether it's lecture-based or cookery.

What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
Tomas' motivation for teaching is as simple as his mind. He wants to expand on his own experience in the kitchen. He had tried to become a chef at a high-end restaurant in the early 2000s in Glasgow but to no success; struck by grief, the man would take on teaching training in the United Kingdom. From there he'd sharpen his techniques of teaching and culinary arts. Having sharpened his skills already by the countless hours of training endured, the man would be passionate about teaching. Along with that, Tomas was born to a mother who was a teacher herself, inspired by the countless conversations endured with his mother. His mother died when he was 19 years old. The man would be inspired throughout his secondary years to aspire to become a teacher and become an excellent one in memory of her dead mother; this heavily boosted his motivation to teach and fuelled him to gain the experience required to take on the lengthy task of cookery. This longing for teaching had fuelled him for the past 24 years to become a teacher and educate the youth of Karakura. Tomas would overall be inspired by past memories of his mother, which still slightly haunt and taunt him to this day, and his inspirational journey to go professional and one day go back to Glasgow and become a restaurant owner.

Roleplay Scenarios

A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
After a lengthy lecture, Tomas would ready himself for the flurry of applauses that never came; he'd elegantly take a seat in his seat as he grabbed up a pen to start grading homework. His silhouette would ingrain itself upon the room as he quickly saw a student struggling. The man would huff as he walked over to the student, asking calmly with a pinch of irritance. ''What's going on… What do you need help with?'' Depending on the lecture and task, the male, if it was a practical, would demonstrate the proper technique for the thing the student was missing and instruct them on how to proceed. If it's a task, the man would go over the lecture again, paraphrasing and compacting it simply, then proceeding to quiz them on if the student remembers the answer. From there he'd nod at the student, hoping they'd gain the correct experience from the situation. If they do not understand at all, the man would walk them through the task and be by their side as they do it, offering support to them to ensure they execute the task correctly and safely to maximise learning outcome in the situation. Depending on how well they do, Tomas may reward them with a sticker or a little prize.

A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
Tomas would be mid-lecture talking about the amount of time it takes to cook a chicken breast when he saw an atrocious crime, a disruptive student. Tomas would stare at the student for a second as he stopped mid-sentence before he quickly said to them with a brisk amount of energy, "This is your first warning; cut it out." He'd sigh, looking down in disappointment, debating why he chose to teach. If the student is to proceed to act like this for two more instances, the man would give them a detention slip or kick them out of the class and radio for faculty to give the person detention if they act up again in the school day. This situation would be handled calmly by the individual with a pinch of annoyance as well. If any severe incidents occur, Tomas would radio for assistance via SLT or other faculty, if needed. If said student proceeds to act up throughout the day, Tomas would be severely disappointed and file a sudden SLT report on the individual to avoid any more annoyances from the individual and to prevent any further disturbances throughout the school day to ensure that his fellow faculty members don't go insane from the irritant.

Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
#1 A democratic twist on food safety

Tomas would plan out a lesson that ran out as follows: At the start of class, students would resume their seats as per usual as Tomas would introduce the following idea: "I will be doing a short lecture on food safety, and you all after will be doing a FUN game which will take on if YOU have comprehended my short lecture." From there the man would instruct the class on the basics of food safety and food preparation safety, his thorough nature leaving a lack of things undone. At the end of the lecture he'd instruct all students to stand behind their work stations. The first question of the game would be simply 'Should you have separate boards for meats and vegetables? Step to my right if you agree and to my left if you do not. Does everyone understand?'' The man would then proceed to count up how many people are on each side and would intuitively ask the class. He'd then ask the agreed side WHY they are right, taunting a reward sticker to the best answer from the masses. From there he'd move onto the next four questions and proceed accordingly. This class idea would teach the students how to identify food safety and develop their skills with food safety. This would heavily assist them in the culinary world and their daily lives.

#2 A vibrant demonstration of a dish

Tomas would start his class… Huffing with determination, he'd preach to the students to come around and look upon his creation. Displayed would be the ingredients for a basic sweet and sour stir-fry. The man would instruct the students to observe carefully, as if they look behind them, they'll see boxes in their desks with the same ingredients within them. The man would state that the three best recreations of the dish would get a reward sticker. Any students who completed it on time and presented on time would be given a sweet as a reward and influential feedback. So Tomas would prepare the dish expertly, and with all the ingredients provided, this dish he created would be perfection and what all students should strive to achieve. The man would instruct them to work together in groups if they wish and to ask about the dish. In a more out-of-character setting, this situation would be carried out through a severe case of detail. This detailer would gift the students the chance to express their characters' lore potential with cookery. This would build upon the students' capabilities as cooks to learn how to cook more effectively and to work in a professional environment.

#3 A group-based cookie contest!

Tomas would start up his class grinning from ear to ear. How strange indeed… 'What a rare sight,' thought the students. The students would be greeted with 6 tables with ingredients on them. He said clearly that all students must get into groups of five and prepare a lovely amount of cookies as a group to present to school faculty and the teacher himself. The teacher would demonstrate the correct recipe and technique as he told them that they may add a twist. When the students start working on their cookies, the man would add a TWIST… ''The best group will get to have 3 reward stickers depending on who did the most work and TWO small candy bags.'' The man's grin would intensify as he intensely observed the groups individually and planned out where to place each… When the cookies were done, the man would instruct them to go outside and form a line with their group. From there Tomas would summon any available faculty for 'cookie tasting', as from there each faculty would cast votes on whose group's cookies tasted and looked the best. This would give them experience working in team environments and boost their chances of learning more from the situation. This would be essential in the chef journey of a student and could massively influence how they operate in the kitchen.

#4 A judged contest

Tomas would glare at the wall as he got out his phone, checking the time. Students flooded the halls as he braced for the impact of hell. He'd welcome the class into the room as he had presented two other faculty… The students would be confused as the man gave them TWO options for a task. Option number one was to present him some cupcakes directly; this was meant to give the students a chance to impress him. OR those who are more talented are to cook a PAN-ASIAN dish for him and the other faculty members; the man would bow towards the crowd, gesturing to the corner of ingredients, saying that everything they needed was located there. He'd then wait for the calm flurry of students to start cooking; he'd try the cupcakes and end up giving feedback to all and giving reward stickers out galore. When trying the higher dishes, he'd encourage a cheer or clap of encouragement by the class to build up suspense. This encouragement was essential to his technique, as he rewarded all who participated with a sticker or small packet of Haribo. From there he'd go over general feedback before ending the class. Giving his students the chance to interact and enjoy the subject could possibly project them into a professional career.
