Do you have Discord (If so, what is your discord username?):
I do! My tag is beeloved. -- period included!

How old are you? (Optional):
18 !

What is your time zone?:
EST!

Describe your activity on the server:
As of right now, I have the opportunity to be on whenever I wish; ah, the blessing of summer vacation! I don't have a set schedule that I have for myself, I am, quite literally, on anytime I feel the want to get on. I suppose I tend to be on more during the mornings or evenings. . That's when I tend to be the most free!

However, I will be continuing my schooling this autumn. . Meaning, I won't have the flexibility I currently have. My SRP hours may turn to just evenings or just afternoons, it really just depends on my schedule! I'll still be on, though, and perfectly able to complete quota.

As of current, I'm only in one other faction: Student Council. I'm the current College President, and therefore spent quite a lot of time on and off the server doin' stuff for that. Despite this, I'm perfectly capable at shelling time away for a new faction! Role-wise, the tag is on my main account.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you will be demoted?:
Of course! Active shopkeepers are needed, I understand.

What shop are you applying for?:
I'm applying for an open restaurant spot -- either Ryuketsu or Shizukesa, preferably, as my shop idea would work best in those spots! I'm not overly picky, however; anywhere should be work within reason.

Whatever the case, I plan to rename my shop to 'Daini no ie.'

Why do you want to become a Shopkeeper?:
Simply put, I quite love the roles of shopkeepers within the server! It’s always been a role I’ve been interested in; the duties and needs and just jobs within this role are entirely unique.

But we don’t want a simple answer, do we?

Outside of the school factions, because those are known and shared between everybody, the shopkeeper faction was the first faction I properly interacted with. Shops were always opening when I first joined – and still are! – and I got the chance to visit tons of different shops, whether they be restaurant type shops, or accessory shops, or something entirely different than both, and just observe. And then not too long after, I applied to a shop, and to my luck, got accepted as one of their waiter/esses! My original intent was just to work for money, like a lot of people within the server. Money is needed for, like, everything, and at the time, I needed it! And while I did meet that goal, I got far more than just money. I got the experience of a lifetime. It sounds cheesy, but I genuinely did; I was lucky enough to be met with a shop team and shopkeeper who were all crazy patient and understanding, and I even managed to work my way up to the manager title. This is where my experience truly flourished: as a manager, at least for the shop I was in, was to help the shopkeeper with whatever was needed. From things like opening, to helping with inventory, to even training new employees! I did a lot, and learned a lot. I’d even go so far as to call the title ‘mini shopkeeper,’ with all of the tasks we worked with.

Now, I have other shop experiences too. I’ve worked in retail shops that sold accessories, gifts, and player decor, and I’ve also worked in other restaurant shops. But I will say that the first shop I described impacted me the most, because I got as close to the actual shopkeeper role as you could. And that shop, along with all of the others, truthfully sparked my interest within the faction.

But that’s not all! There’s more to it, obviously. Aside from my huge interest in the role itself, I’m quite interested in the responsibilities that come along with it, too. From the actual shop aspect, where you cater towards players, and serve, and provide customer service, to the more ‘behind-the-scenes’ parts. Like restocking, working the website, making a discord and hiring employees, and even the taxes. Yes, taxes. I’ve NEVER interacted with the tax commands/plugins first hand, so I’m honestly kind of excited about it.

I'm well aware that being a shopkeeper isn't an easy task, given some of the responsibilities I've listed above. You have to be able to manage your time well, and you have to be able to manage this shop full of people, both employees and customers alike. You've got to appeal to the players by offering them an interesting environment that they can explore (both figuratively and literally!), but you also have to make sure the chaos within your shop isn't overly, well, chaotic. And, alongside allll of that, you have to find it in you to have fun! I suppose I want the difficulties that come with being a shopkeeper -- the challenge. Who doesn't want to be challenged in a role?

And then there’s the roleplay aspect. I’ve already ShopRP’d a bunch, and I’m very excited for the opportunity to get back into it. But this time from the actual shopkeeper perspective. There’s so much that goes into it, and I’m just excited.

What do you plan to do with your shop, and what makes it unique?:
Karakura is lacking. As it’s known, Karakura is placed off the coast of Japan, and is a part of Japan itself. And despite all of the restaurants we have – which are all unique and individual in their own way, please don’t take this negatively – we don’t have anything that’s traditional. We have the Shrine, but the Shrine isn’t a restaurant. We have the architecture and hotspots, but those also aren’t restaurants.

So, how do I plan to remedy this, one may ask? Easy: I want to create a traditional Japanese tea shop. Something that helps tie Karakura back into traditional Japanese culture. A shop that, unlike some others, basks in that server-wide RP aspect. Money's nice, sure, but I almost prefer the RP aspect of my shop concept.

As stated in the first question, I plan to name this shop ‘Daini no Ie’, which translates to ‘second home.’ My goal for this shop is to give it a homey, welcoming sort of vibe. Something that encourages customers to stop in and stay a while – something that encourages people to take the time to truly soak in the atmosphere and experience of the shop.

But, what does that look like, exactly?

✿. EXTERIOR!
1723171228078.png2024-08-08_22.37.37.png
Like I’ve stated before, I plan for my shop to be a traditional tea shop. So, obviously, I plan for the appearance of it to match. Within the first spoiler are a few general references I found for my shop. I plan for the exterior to have that traditional feel to it -- working with traditional architecture, pallets, etc.. I also plan to add a bit of greenery because, well .. I personally like plants, and feel they help to both fill space, and add some pizzazz.

Within the second spoiler, I've added a few storefront concepts I've created on my creative plot. For the 1st, I've attempted to create a more modern-y storefront, as that's what you tend to see within SRP. The second is also a bit modern-y, but with more traditional aspects to it.

✿. INTERIOR!
2024-08-08_22.41.22.png2024-08-08_22.41.27.png
Just like the interior, I plan for my interior to match my shop theme. Earlier, I’d described my shop vision as follows: homey, welcoming, and cozy. Within the first spoiler, I've added a few references.

When customers walk in, I want to have a cozy entrance room where they will remove their outdoor shoes, and borrow a pair of inside slippers. To keep the outside germs outside, of course. The second spoiler includes a general concept for this entrance room, as well as a reception/host table. A server will be waiting at the reception/host table to serve those who have arrived. Customers will be split into two categories: those who are solo, and those within a group.

  • Grouped customers will be taken to personal rooms where they can enjoy their time, bond as a group, and interact with the staff serving them. Depending on the amount of space within my shop, I may also be able to plop a few group tables outside of the rooms.
  • Solo customers will be taken to either a bar-like seating area, or individual booths/tables to enjoy their time. I haven’t decided which of the two I will do yet, but I will say I’m leaning towards the bar-like seating … I feel the RP interactions will work best that way!
-----

✿. UNIFORMS!

Outside of both of the previous discussions, I plan to enforce an employee-only uniform. While it’s certainly not unique to just my shop, I still think it’s crucial to add.

Above are two examples of the uniform I plan to use. Employees will be provided two kimono files -- both a feminine file, and a masculine file. The feminine kimono features a green kimono, with a tan obi and lime-colored obijime. The masculine file is similiar, with a green kimono, tan obi, and dark brown haori.

I do plan to reshade both files, as the current examples are my older shading.

-----

✿. MUSIC!
During each of my openings, I plan to add an extra layer of ambience to my shop: music! While I'm not prepared to share it with the public just yet, I have slowly been compiling an instrumental playlist to use during these each and every opening. It's a variety of songs, and I plan to randomize what plays each time we have customers.

To share the music with the public, I plan to use a Watch2Gether.

-----

✿. EVENTS!
You need more than just an appearance and uniform to make a shop unique though, right? Well, I certainly think so! That’s why, with the help of those working within my shop, I plan to do special little events! Nothing crazy, but something to sort of switch things up a bit every now and then. I understand that a lot of people tend to say this, but then don't actually fulfill the idea. . That is not me, I will absolutely be implementing these days!

  • Traditional Attire Day: I feel like this idea sort of speaks for itself, but I will happily explain my idea. On this day, customers will be invited to wear some form of traditional attire – whether that be kimono, or something within their own culture. We don’t discriminate! While it won’t be mandatory or forced, those who do show up within some attire will be given a certain percent discount! As of right now, I don’t have a specific number in mind, but I also have time to further develop it!
  • Holidays: Outside of just attire, I’d love to be able to do certain things for certain holidays! Whether they be big, grand holidays that are well known around the globe, or just something niche that’s only celebrated here, I plan to do something special. Perhaps a discount or special event for the coming of autumn, or a certain discount for whoever brings in and/or shows their love for plants on Greenery Day (midori no hi)!

What kind of adverts will you use?
A shop certainly isn't complete without an advert! These are simple messages that, well. . Draw in your customers. Listed below are a couple advert examples I may use for my shop; both regular adverts, and special event adverts.

  • [ADVERT] Greetings, Karakura! Daini no ie is holding its GRAND OPENING! Stop on in for a delicious cup of tea, or a sweet treat off our menu. [X, Z]
  • [ADVERT] Daini no ie is now OPEN! Hungry for an after school snack? We’ve got a variety of treats on our menu, and plenty of coffee and tea to go around. [X, Z]
  • [ADVERT] Guess what? Daini no ie is now OPEN, and offering a 10% discount to those who come dressed in something traditional! Whether it be a kimono or hanbok, come showcase your love for your culture. [X, Z]
  • [ADVERT] In honor of the autumn equinox, Daini no ie is offering a 10% discount to everybody who stops in today. Grab a delicious cup of tea or a scrumptious treat, and savor the start of autumn. [X, Z]
  • [ADVERT] Happy Greenery Day, Karakura! In honor of Daini no ie’s love of plants, we’re offering a 10% discount to those who come to show their own love of all things green. Dress up, bring in a plant, or find some other way to celebrate Greenery Day! [X, Z]

What will you sell in your shop?:
Ideally, I’d like a menu that reflects the shop idea stated above -- though a few items aren't necessarily 'traditional' to a tea shop, I believe they'd fit the general theme; it adds a variety for now, too. That being said, below are all of the items I wish to have within my shop, complete with a list of potential customs.

✿ DRINKS ✿
To my knowledge, these are public items for shops -- if I am incorrect, I am open to adjusting this, should I be accepted.
Prices are subject to change.

Sakura Tea Cup - ¥3,500
Pink Boba - ¥5,000
‘Cub’uccino - ¥4,000
Totoro’s Latte - ¥4,000
Americano - ¥3,000
Hot Chocolate - ¥3,000
Water Bottle - ¥1,000
Milk Carton - ¥1,000

✿ ALCOHOL ✿
Sake - ¥10,000
Shochu - ¥10,000

✿ FOODS ✿
Mochi Icecream - ¥3,000
Checkerboard Cookie - ¥1,000
Dango Stick - ¥3,000
Bento Box - ¥6,000
Sushi box - ¥6,000
Onigiri - ¥2,000

✿ POTENTIAL CUSTOMS ✿
I would love to explore the idea of shop-specific customs later down the line.
I don't have any set prices yet!

Kombucha
Either fresh in a cup, or bottled to-go.
Cha-Sen (Bamboo Whisk)
An item available for purchase.
Hojicha Cup
A cup of fresh, Hojicha!
White Tea Cup
A floral cup of white tea!
Flavored Tea Cup
A cup of flavored tea; I'm thinking maybe an orange or mint?

I do plan to look at the list of public items shopkeepers are permitted, should I be accepted. And so, the menu may be adjusted depending on my findings.

How many employees do you plan to have?:
I plan for my roster to look as follows:

Owner: Zoey159 [1/1]
Assuming this application gets accepted, I would be filling this role. Quite frankly, this is the most crucial role of any sort of shop. The owner’s job is to handle all of the shop’s affairs: taxes, shop inventory, application review, monitoring of the shop itself, employee training, and much, much more .. I won’t bore the readers will every single task. All in all, the owner ensures that the shop runs smoothly and efficiently, and is there to smooth out any rough bumps that may occur before, during, and after an opening.

Managers: [0/2]
A position that is likely less important than the shop owner, but still needed. Managers are the individuals that pick up the slack when needed -- they're there to provide a helping hand to the Owner when needed, and do any task assigned to them. In this shop, Managers will assist in the employee training process, manage customers when needed, and be there to support employees. They will also have access to some behind-the-scenes things, like an employee roster spreadsheet, applications, and possibly stock .. We'll have to see what rules there are regarding that!

At the time of this application, these two slots will remain empty. I have a general idea of who I may want filling these positions, of course, but I want to keep my mind open for now.

Employees: [0/10]
An essential role of any shop; this is the role that has the most direct interaction with customers. It's important that each employee is well trained, and is able to work well within customer service ... To keep business booming and customers returning, obvi.

These individuals, best described as waiters/waitresses, will make up the body of my shop. They will help to seat customers as they enter, serve those they've sat, and collect any necessary payments. I also expect my employees to roleplay with customers -- the biggest concept of my shop is roleplay, of course! This will not be a shop where they just walk up, hand a customer their food, and walk away. No, I expect them to roleplay out serving the food, and interact with customers.

Upon starting, I plan to start with a simple 10 employees, adding if/when necessary. Within an opening, I’d like to have anywhere from 3-5 employees working. Enough to keep things running efficiently, but as minimal as possible to keep the RP interesting.

Consider it a sub-type if you will, but I'll also have a tab on my discord that shows which employees are new, simply so that they can be monitored and easily helped when needed. It also makes the training process much easier!

How do you plan to hire your employees?:
Having my roster planned out is only half of the employee process -- the other half deals with the actual hiring process. Throughout my time on SRP, and throughout my time working at shops, I've noticed that every shop seems to do hiring a little bit differently! So, how do I plan to do this?

  • Applications: For the first part of my hiring process, I plan to do some form of application. This'll either be done through a google form, or with the Tickets discord bot -- whichever ends up being easiest in the long-run. These applications will be split into two parts: an OOC portion and an IC portion. The OOC portion will require info like the following: IGN, discord, timezone, how many shops a player is currently in, and OOC motivations for applying. Nothing too personal, don't worry! The IC portion will require info like so: RPname, IC age, phone number, IC motivations, what a character can bring to the job, and IC expectations. Anything relevant to the character a person is applying as.
  • Interviews: Aside from an application, I'd absolutely love to do some sort of IC interview! While it may be a bit difficult to schedule, I think it offers players a great opportunity to RP, and show off a character's personality. Interviews will take place AFTER applications -- a number of accepted applications will be moved onto the interview round, and those who, for lack of better terms, 'pass' the interview will be hired. I don't have a specific list of questions that will be asked yet, but they will all be relevant to the job and shop itself.

What rules will employees follow?:
'kay! The roster and hiring process is down, all that's really left is what rules/expectations I plan to have my employees follow. Below are my top 5 rules/expectations -- I'll likely add more as my shop progresses, but I didn't want to bore you with a super huge list. Failure to follow any employee rules may end up in an employee getting a strike. Like most factions, I plan to follow a 3-strike rule... Once somebody's got three, they're subject to being fired.

RULE #1: RESPECT!
All employees are expected to treat guests, and eachother, with respect. Got a bone to pick with somebody? COOL! Keep it outside of my shop!

Respect does, however, go both ways! Service can be refused if disrespected.
RULE #2: STEALING!
Here at Daini no ie, we have a zero tolerance policy for stealing! Should an employee steal from the shop's stocks, or pay, they will be FIRED!

Do you suspect a coworker of stealing from us? Report it! Your report will remain secret.
RULE #3: REPUTATION!
While our higher-ups will be doing background checks on applicants, you are expected to maintain a good reputation whilst you work for us!

If an employee is arrested, or develops a bad record, they may be fired from the sho
p.
RULE #4: ACTIVITY!
Upon acceptance, employees are expected to remain active! While the higher-ups understand that life happens, failure to show up to a minimum of TWO shifts per month, without a valid inactivity notice, may get you FIRED!

Don't want to be striked, or face being fired? Put in an inactivity log!
RULE #5: BEHAVIOR!
Unfortunately, we have to cover this! Employees are expected to behave whilst working.

Don't be runnin' around the shop like a fool, and don't bring up sensitive topics! Our shop is a safe space for all.

Full Name + Title:
" My name is Nami Amenomori -- the title 'Miss' fits, I suppose! "

Appearance:

Backstory:

" My backstory-? Oh, let's see. . Well, I was born into a small-ish family! It was just me, my mother, my older sister, and my grandmother. A true matriarchy, I suppose. Oh, I was born and raised in Chōsei -- it's a beautiful city, I recommend visiting if you haven't. There wasn't really anything crazy that happened during my childhood. . I was just a kid, really. Nothing insanely impactful.

Oh. . Other than my dear grandmother's tea shop! I practically grew up in that place, you know? It was a whole family thing. . She opened it up with her husband in her twenties, my mother worked in it growing up, my sister did, I did. . There's a lot of memories I hold close that happened there. I used to spend so much time in there! Did. . I grew up, of course. Throughout my secondary school years, my visits there wavered a bit. I still helped out, but I had other things to do, too. I was a part of the school's cooking club and their journalism team, and then played volleyball on top of that. I just didn't have a lot of time for it. Graduation certainly didn't help either -- I went to university, and was working on my Master's in journalism! That's something that certainly stuck. There was a magazine company in Tokyo that I absolutely adored, it was my dream to work for them. A dream I didn't quite reach. .

See, my grandmother shut down her shop. She's older, and was just ready to retire. I get it! But I grew up there, it was a bit tough. Right around that time, I started to undergo a bout of burnout. I suppose I'm still undergoing it. . I dunno, what if I don't like working for a big magazine company? I don't really want to work for the rest of my life. Especially not for something that's going to have me starin' at a screen all day! So, I thought to myself, and came up with an idea: what if I reopened her tea shop? It won't be the exact same; it won't be in Chōsei, it won't be named the same, it probably won't look the same. . But it'll be similar enough. It's my take on it, anyways -- it's my shop!

I ranted a little there. . Didn't I? My apologies, I seem to be doing that more and more frequently! Anyways, that's sort of what's brought me here today. Why work in a job I may end up hating for the rest of my life, when I can open a shop up and do what I want for the rest of my life? Why not bring Daini no ie to life? "

Additional notes about your application:
